Annalise Sutter is a newly Turned shifter determined to get her life back on track. The problem? Her inner panther is a monster that attacks anything that breathes. She’s had to let go of her old life completely to protect the people she loves, and the one thing that has kept her steady through this transition is Jaxon Barns. They’ve been texting for months, but he’s anti-shifter and she can’t … tell him what she has become. When a spot on a notoriously private panther crew comes up, she jumps at the opportunity to pledge in desperation to get her animal under control. Too bad that means leaving Jaxon behind, because what human is going to put up with an out of control shifter who lives way out in the boonies?
Jaxon Barns is harboring two things—a massive grizzly in his middle and an equally big chip on his shoulder about being born a shifter. He grew up in the Gray Back Crew, but can’t seem to settle down long enough to stay in one place. The only thing that eases the ache of being a rogue are the text messages that come from Annalise. She feels like the only real thing in his life, and when she disappears mysteriously one day, he knows something has gone really wrong. Now he’ll have to track her to panther territory to save her from herself.
But maybe the panther inside of her isn’t the biggest danger to Annalise’s safety anymore. Perhaps now, the biggest threat to her future…is him.

This is a crazy good beginning to a new crew. Annalise story is tragic but I love how she meets Jaxon. Their texting story is amazing. I can see why she re read it when she wanted to be happy. When he brought her that phone I thought that was the sweetest. The connection between these two is almost palpable. I could feel their energy flowing off the pages. They are wild together. This crew is something else. They almost remind me of the Boarlanders fighting all the time.
I have not read the Gray Back series but I am thinking I need to. They are the most brought up group throughout all the other stories. Jax is the son of Wills the worm farmer and Matt. I love it when he told Anna he is a worm farmer. I can’t imagine what my reaction would be If someone said that to me. Beaston is another that shows up in many of the stories.
Another grade A book from this author.
*WARNING* contains adult situations
Annalise has a very angry panther inside of her. Anna did not choose her panther, she was forced to take it, and she the animal was born of violence, it is violent. Anna doesn’t want to live in a cage, but knows her She Devil can’t be trusted around others. When Anna’s brother found a back woods panther crew, she had to go to there to try to learn from them.
Jaxon has a secret that he doesn’t want to tell Anna. Jaxon’s texts from Anna are what get him through his many bad days. When Anna just disappears, he has to find her no matter the consequences.
Anna reminds me a lot of Willa from prior books. There is a lot that goes on in these stories and there is violence, but above all, these half human, half animals just want a place to call home, a place to fit in, a family even. I think that’s what I like most, even though these is near constant fighting, it’s still a family. No one’s family is perfect. Even the seemingly serious situations, there a lightness and humor from one of the characters. I enjoyed this story very much.
A girl with a secret falls for a guy with a secret online knowing it can never be or can it? With a wild she-devil inside, Annalise left with no other choice goes to join the Red Havoc Panthers- a group of damaged panthers hoping to gain control of her panther. Not knowing her destiny was on the way in the form of a nomad grizzly bear-the Titan who happens to be Jaxon her online guy. Can the nomad bear calm the she-devil? Can the she-devil keep the nomad from wanting to roam? Loved it!! Great start of a new series. Can’t wait for more.
This was the first book I read from this Author thanks too Bookhub, and I was hooked and still enamoured with her; her storytelling, storylines, characters, themes, messages of her books. I’ve gotten so involved with the characters that I’ve cried, and was happy with them. I just can’t get enough of them. Flawless writing, spell-error free, captivating characters. A MUST for those who appreciate great books that captures your imagination.
Annalise is a newly turned shifter and she’s looking for a crew, cause her panther is crazy and Jaxon is a Grizzly Shifter from the crew she wants to join. There are a lot of problems along the way as usual for shifters. This was another great read.
