“Author Robert D. Kidera owes me big time. His debut novel in the promised McKenna Mystery series, ‘Red Gold,’ kept me up all night. Who can resist a good old-fashioned treasure hunt? ‘Red Gold’ is a thriller packed with deceit and danger but also compassion. McKenna is a damaged hero, but also one to root for.”—Vincent Zandri, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of “Everything … Burns,” “The Remains,” and “The Shroud Key”

“If you enjoy first-class suspense and an author with a unique voice and style, then you will love ‘Red Gold.’ This novel is a masterful blend of mystery, action, and love story, all wrapped up in a wonderful cast of characters and beautifully-described scenes of New Mexico. Robert Kidera’s first novel is a real treat that will have readers demanding more.”

Good thriller.
If you like mystery, treasure, and little romance this book is for you! It was a great read.
I’m not usually a fan of mysteries. However being a New Mexico expatriate i was drawn in by the setting and hooked by the plot. Stories of lost gold in the southwest are as old as days of the Spanish explorers. The fact that the stories are more myth than history takes nothing from the romance of the location and provides a never ending source of inspiration for writers and artists. The diverse culture of the state produces original characters whenever the need arises for writers. The author does an excellent job of mixing these elements together.
Great addition to my western paperbacks I’ve collected over the years.
Very entertaining. Emoyed the writing.
What I have read of this book, I have enjoyed.
It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book I couldn’t put down. This was one of them. Lots of action that kept you guessing and it didn’t drag on with boring detail. This author will be on my follow list.
Good book.
An action packed adventure of a History Professor who inherits a huge fortune. Includes a treasure hunt and lots of twists and turns. Lots of interesting facts included. Plenty of surprises included.
Red Gold is a fast paced, page turning, treasure hunt of a thriller set in New Mexico. The “hero” is a Widower, History Professor, Estate Heir and Target of Treasure Hunters. He’s also a whiskey reliant and idea fueled oaf who is warned off but still decides to find his family’s legacy, trusting some so obvious that I groaned. There are graphically violent scenes. The action carries this along though, and as such, maintains as a decent light read which resolves well and is a stand-alone novel.
