With Book Two of the Experiment in Terror Series, Perry Palomino and Dex Foray trade in the stormy Oregon coast for the unforgiving deserts of New Mexico. In the forgotten town of Red Fox, a Navajo couple is tortured by things unseen and by motives unknown. Wild animals slink through their house in the dark, a barrage of stones pound their roof nightly, and mutilated sheep carcasses are … carcasses are turning up on their property. Armed with a camera and just enough to go on, Perry and Dex travel to the desolate locale, hoping to film the supernatural occurrences and add credibility to their flailing webcast. Only their show has a lot more working against them than just growing pains. Tested by dubious ranch hands, a ghost from Dex’s past, and shapeshifting deception, the amateur ghost hunters must learn to trust each other in order to fight the most ancient of myths…or die trying.

I’m enjoying this creepy paranormal series. Perry is such a relatable character. Rex is the mysterious older man. The story was creepy and had me on the edge of my seat! I cannot wait to read the next one.
This book messed with my head, just a little bit. Just kidding, this story really took me for a ride as Dex and Perry embark on a new adventure based in New Mexico. Fake marriage, skin walkers, vicious animals and so much more, but not the romance. Nope! We’re getting close and my anxious nerves are killing me. There’s so much chemistry between Dex and Perry. I’m loving the build up. These books give me Supernatural vibes mixed in with a little bit of Ghost Whisperer. Unpredictable, entertaining and thrilling!
Show MUST go on? No. This show is proving who exactly is the Champion here!!!!! THIS AUTHOR. THIS SERIES. THIS CHARACTERS!
Perry and Dex, with Mrs. Halle help sucked me me into their word by book no 1 , and Red Fox just made me feel sure – I don’t wanna leave. All the secrets, that are hidding around every signle corner made my head spinning around.
Red Fox is literally scary breathtaking plus… Dex and Perry are making this story delicious. They are weird, sooo weird what make them almost cute hihi. Everything what happened in Red Fox is giving me a lot of goosebumps, because of every possible reason – starting from feeling terrified to faling more in love with Dex, Perry and their adventure!!!!
Must READ!!!!!
„As long as you’re around, I’ll be alive.”
Karina Halle continues to shock and entertain, sending her unique characters on more hunting sprees and she raises the scare-level as well as sexual tension. And if Darkhouse somehow hasn’t bought you yet, you’ll be completely gone after Red Fox!
This part of Experiment in Terror is overflowing with jaw-dropping twists and turns, with more mysteries and goosebumps-inducing situations. There are also many explanations here that allow us to get to know and understand the main characters better and to feel their growing connection. It’s still a slow-burn, but I swear that their chemistry is so charged with electricity that it’s just waiting to be unleashed! The development of both Dex and Perry’s characters is brilliantly carried out, because the reader gets to know them just as much as they get to know each other. We still have a banter here between these two, but we also see a growing trust and a sense of belonging.
And let’s not forget about Halle’s writing skills! She’s able to make you so captivated, that reading EiT is an experience like no other. Most of the time I feel as if I was the one standing behind the camera and witnessing all the creepy situations that are taking place. The build-up is so ingeniously delivered that you feel every emotion with an incredible intensity. I’m completely hooked with Dex and Perry’s journey and like a junkie I still need more! Absolutely fantastic!
The Experiment in Terror is the perfect series to get you out of your book slump. This series has the right amount of action, paranormal activity, romance and character development. Both Perry and Dex are becoming favorite characters of mine because they are so intriguing and very unique. These two are a perfect duo and I love their teasing and collaboration. Nowadays, I find it very difficult to find series that focuses on one couple that keeps me interested throughout the whole series. But I think I found a winner with this series. I am a very picky reader and I look for books with original plots, and interesting characters. Karina Halle didn’t disappoint with this book, I liked Red Fox more than I did Darkhouse, because I always struggle with starting a new series where the story and characters need to be set up.
What I liked most about this book was the subject of the story. I am a huge fan of anything Native American related and I really enjoyed how Karina tackled the story. I predicted a couple of things pretty early on the story, I do wish it was a bit more unpredictable but that didn’t take away from how awesome this book was. I also loved seeing both Perry and Dex grow as individuals but also as partners. There is little bit of romance but it is more in the background, which I am happy about. The investigation of paranormal happenings is in my opinion more important than romance in this series. There are enough romance books I can dive into if I want straight up romance. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I’m so excited to have finally given this series a chance. It’s been a lot of fun already and I’m only through the first two! Karina Halle creates plot themes reminiscent of The X-Files and she has written two characters that have just about as much unresolved romantic tension (at least as of this point). This second installment: Red Fox has tons of suspense, mystery, humor, and moments of terror that had me glued. If this sounds interesting, make sure to check it out!
My favorite quote:
“Poltergeists, for the most part, seemed to be pretty unhappy spirits with a vendetta against humanity and an eye for trickery. I knew that if I died I’d definitely come back as one. It actually was quite appealing, throwing shit around and scaring hapless people out of their homes, just to be an ass. I started looking forward to “meeting” these asshole ghosts.”
Karina Halle’s Experiment in Terror series includes the following installments as of June 2017:
1-Darkhouse
2-Red Fox
2.5-The Benson
3-Dead Sky Morning
4-Lying Season
5-On Demon Wings
5.5-Old Blood
5.7-The Dex-Files
6-Into the Hollow
6.5-And With Madness Comes the Light
7-Come Alive
8-Ashes to Ashes
9-Dust to Dust
Fairly obvious I loved this! Dex is a crazy I can handle and keeps me guessing at every turn. Perry is equally as crazy as he is and has a spirit she doesn’t even recognize. This pair can keep your interest no matter what is happening because you can’t help but like them and hope for the best.
This time they have walked into something neither has any idea of how to handle. They are hooked up with a college friend of Dex who has a long standing grudge against Dex. He invites them to New Mexico to investigate what first appears to be simple poltergeist activity but turns out to be something much more sinister.
This is a great entry and I can’t wait to read the next.
