Read b4 Silence of the Lambs! This is 1 SCARY read that you won’t put down
This is one of the few books that has raised the hair on the back of my neck! Yikes! It was scary but I loved it!
For me, the first in the Hannibal Lecter series is still the best – brilliant story, characters and a dark, nail-biting read. AND it’s the basis of Manhunter, easily my favourite film.
This will always be on my top three list of thrillers
This one was long overdue… One of those classics that slip through the cracks. Introducing Hannibal Lecter to the world for the very first time. Enough said. (And ignore the movie for this one!)
In depth understanding of what made a monster and serial killer.
Read it with somebody else in the room. Hannibal!!!!
I can’t get it off my mind for many days after I finished reading this book. Better than SOTL in my opinion.
I read this when it came out. I was terrified. I made changes to how I did things, this was back in the 80’s, so you’ll understand when you read it. I remember laying in bed reading it and heard a creak and swore I saw a head coming up the steps. Poor husband had to get up and search the house.
Scary as hell.
One of the best series i have ever read much better than the films
Started out slow but enjoyed it
I read this book a long time ago..but still remember how my heart was beating fast….so intense…soo good!!!!
At the time I bought this, I was a teenager and had no idea that this book was about the chase for a Serial Killer. I was in an airport and my flight was getting ready to board so I ran into a store in the airport and thought “I could deal with a story about Dragons and fantasy”, I was not prepared for what I was about to read. I was hooked after the first few chapters and can I say I was floored. The flight had a layover in Atlanta and I was running through the airport to get in line so I could continue reading. This book was responsible for my reading tastes changing to procedural and horror more than any other book. Also started the fire for Serial Killers.
Fantastic book a real m page turner. I recommend
Absolutely terrifying!
What a mesmerizing read! My first experience at a ‘horror’ book – although some consider this merely a ‘crime’ book. Perhaps horrifying crimes describes the book best. I was repulsed, compelled to continue reading, in spite of the Adrenalin coursing through me. When finished I needed to have a drink (tea) and get myself calmed down. Then I had incredibly vivid, tumultuous dreams, and my husband has forbidden me to indulge in such books after high noon – because now I’m entranced.
This one will scare the pants off of you.
This book is terrifying…but you can not stop reading it to the very end
This is the first book in the Hanniw Lector series. While not my favorite in the series it is still scary and twisted. Whilei it is the first book that Harrris wrote about Hannibal, it does not reveal his early history like the subsequent books do. I’d still give it an A.
