A great read.
I’m not at all squeamish when it comes to this kind of story, but this one struck me as pandering to the lowest common denominator of reader. (I read it, incidentally, prior to its actual release in an advanced reader copy when I worked for a bookstore.)
Fun read if you like any Hannibal Lector stories.
I could not put it down until I finished it. I will think twice before going off by myself.
Classic modern horror wrapped in delicious characters
Very frightening.
A classic. The original book on which characters in ‘Silence of the Lambs’ were introduced. Though it was written years ago, I still highly recommend it.
This book is hard to put down. It offers a rare opportunity to look at pure, twisted evil from the inside out while making you feel sorry for him at the same time.
Hannibal Lecter…terrific character
Read this one before Silence of the Lamb. It sets the stage for Hannibal Lecter.
His best book, by far!
Twists & turns of the human psyche. Couldn’t put it down!
Almost as scary as The Silence Of The Lambs!
Classic for a reason. Chilling, edge of your seat but not with the lights out!
As the book details the hunt for a psychosexual murderer, you get oblique details of his sickening crimes, but there is little first-hand violence described. There is a glimpse into the inner life of the killer and a dispassionate description of the abuse he suffered as a child. The book has a couple of scenes from his everyday life that might lead the reader to think, “Hey, this guy is sorta cool.” The immediate realization that this is a person who slaughters men, women, and children without apparent conscience makes that thought a bit uncomfortab!e. The introduction of Hannibal Lecter alone makes the book worth reading. The conflicting emotions the book arouses move the book beyond the average crime thriller.
I love anything Tom Harris! Or Hannibal Lector 🙂
The plot keeps you glued to the book! Would definitely recommend.
Couldn’t put it down
