This is no fairytale… Wolves.
Cursed for generations, forced to protect my village from the dark forces.
But they demand a heavy price for their protection. Me.
Five against one…against me alone.
My only hope for survival is to tame the wolves…but submission is not in my nature.
Warning: In our Fairytales, there is danger in the shadows, the beasts bite and no Heroine is truly safe. If dark tales of danger, forced attraction and multiple partners offend you then please do not purchase.

Oh my stars and garters. This was an intense book that I couldn’t put down when I started reading it. It’s dark, it’s yummy, and it’s oh, so twisted. Alta Hensley and Zoe Blake have done it again, taking a fairy tale, turning it upside down, and giving us an adult bedtime story that calls for an adult beverage and a cigarette when you are done reading it. Or maybe that was just me?
Red is the outcast in her village. Her evil grandmother is an elder and though she raised Red, she’s made sure that Red knows how very worthless she is. Because her grandmother is an elder, the rest of the village has shunned her. And if that didn’t make her stand out enough, being the only redhead in her village certainly makes sure she will stand out. (Gingers are soulless, right?) When it comes time for the Blood Moon Sacrifice, when normally only men are candidates, her grandmother managed to arrange it so that the eldest unmarried child of any household may be chosen, and that includes Red.
Five hundred years ago, 5 men were changed using black magic so that they can fight the darkness. They are men in the guise of wolves. And when the blood moon rises, the villagers sacrifice one of their own to the wolves so that they will continue to protect the village. No one in the village knows what happens to those sacrifices. The assumption is that they are eaten. Whatever happened to all those other sacrifices, when Red is the one being sacrificed, Grimm, Canis, Beo, Rood, and Helm know that things are going to change.
I love the names of the guys here. They seem like they should mean things, and maybe they do. I get the Grimm reference and the Canis reference. I think Beo, Rood, and Helm may be archaic for something. Or maybe I’m completely wrong, and Alta and Zoe are keeping us guessing. Whatever it is, I love the names. I think they are pretty awesome. They give a flavor of a fairy tale without really pinning it down to anything at all.
The book is intense. There is so much sex. Just soooo much sex. Soooo much hawt sex. It’s just yummmmmm. Not to say that there isn’t cherishing going on, but yeah, this is very sex-filled. I love the book. I will reread the book. A lot. With an adult bevvy and a ciggy on hand, because I’m pretty sure I’m going to continue to need them when I’m done reading.
Red and the Wolves is definitely not your mother’s fairytales. Well maybe it is I don’t know your mother. Anyway, this was a steamy play on Little Red Riding Hood. Very steamy and twisted. Red and the Wolves is a Dark Fantasy so make sure you read the Warning.
Red (Raina Reithaube) of course is the main character. She was raised in a village and is the hated granddaughter of Elder Hildegarde Reithaube. Hildegarde finally found a way to be rid of Red. When the Blood Moon rises the villagers sacrifice one from the village. The sacrifice is given to “The 5 Wolves” that watch over the village to keep it safe from The Dark Force.
These are 5 alpha wolves and Red must learn to obey them. Let’s just say it takes her a while to settle down to not be punished. This is after all a Dark Fantasy.
Red and the Wolves is a short book to read and I HAD to read it in one go. I didn’t want to put this story down! I enjoyed reading this book by Zoe Blake and Alta Hensley. I give Red and the Wolves 4.5 stars and I look forward to reading the next book Queen and the Kingsmen coming out next month.
Well, HOT DAMN! Alta Hensley and Zoe Blake are remarkable at taking yet, another childhood story and making it cravingly dirty and sexy. Knowing that Red & The Wolves would be next in their series, I was intrigued in how the storyline would take off/shine… oh, how it shined! This is what you can expect from this duo team of authors, their writing is captivating from the beginning until the end.
Red has 5 wolves she encounters unlike 7 Huntsmen with Snow, which honestly I am happy. I liked Snow’s tale, but I am glad that Alta & Zoe kept the men numerage down on this one. Just like Snow’s Huntsmen; the Wolves are dominant, alpha and love to punish Red when she steps out of line, but this tale is not as dark as what I thought it would be… make no mistake, Red’s sexual escapades are wickedly exciting and she loves the pleasure/pain combination the hungry wolves dish out.
I really liked Red “Raina”, she is a fantastic heroine. I think I liked her more than Snow. She is feisty, head strong and has a mind of her own. She stood her ground no matter the circumstances. Especially, at the end where she takes things into her own… hands (read and you’ll understand!).
I can’t wait to see what happens with the Queen and her Kingsmen, the final book! That should be interesting!
The second book in the dirty fairy tale stories by Zoe Blake and Alta Hensley and i have to say i liked this one better than Snow. Instead of 7 there are 5 man so it is easier to keep them apart and to give each of them a personality.
I liked Red, she hasn’t had it easy, but that didn’t crush her spirit or her big heart. Being with the wolves makes her feel loved and protected fort the first time and she learns things about herself she didn’t know. And even though she know it will get her in big trouble it doesn’t stop her for doing what is right and help the Wolves.
It is also a dark, filthy story just what you can expect for these two writers.
This book, this damn book. This is such a fabulous short read with a spin on Little Red Riding Hood. The development of the character is superb, the plot is fabulous and the sex is panty melting. Huge 5 stars for the second installment from Alta and Zoe.
~WRITING – PLOT – PACE~
So I ended up enjoying this one much more than I did the previous book. It was a bit less “rapey” and the five heroes were less harsh in their behavior towards Red. In this one, it actually felt like they had feelings for her. Again as with the previous book, this was a super short read. It took me just over an hour to finish (at 85% on my Kindle App). Both these authors are quality writers so it was no surprise that this was a well-written story. The pace was perfect. The plot was original and engaging. Last, it was all wrapped up in a sweet ending.
~HEROES~
We have five heroes in this book (Grimm, Rood, Helm, Beo, and Canis). Even though we don’t get any POV from them, these guys were a lot more likable than the seven heroes of the previous book. Oh, they were still “rapey” in parts. I literally cringe every time they have anal without lube…shiver. But the authors did a better job of developing their characters and therefore their feelings for RED came through much better and all of them were very likable.
~HEROINE~
RED…I liked Red. She was a stronger character than Snow (of the previous) book. She also seemed to enjoy being treated harsh a little more (lol). She loved pain and punishment. She was feisty. She was an enjoyable heroine.
~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
None really. A few villagers, but this book is pretty much all about Red and the five wolves.
~FAVORITE QUOTE~
“What big eyes you have, Red. Are you afraid?”
~HEAT LEVEL~
HIGH. Not surprisingly this book was packed full of smutty goodness. Some scenes were a bit rapey, but they were offset with some softer scenes as well. We have anal sex. Oral Sex. Whipping. Punishment. And…YAY…we also get a scene with Red and all five of the guys together.
~ANGST LEVEL – SEXUAL HISTORIES~
LOW. This wasn’t an angsty read at all. Sure there are some acrimonious exchanges between Red and some of the heroes, but nothing over the top. Red was a virgin. All five of the heroes hadn’t had sex in a LONG time. There was no OW or OM drama.
~IN THE END~
I enjoyed this one a lot. It pretty much ticked every box for what I look for in a short and smutty read. Great writing. Engaging plot. Likable characters. And loads of hot kinky sex with multiple partners. Therefore yours truly is going to give this one two HUGE thumbs up. I can’t wait to see what these authors have in store for us in the third (and final?) book.
When the Blood Moon rises, the villagers know that the time for a sacrifice to be chosen is here. It’s always been one of the first born males but with the grandmother that has hated her since birth as one of the village elders, it’s Raina that is chosen as a sacrifice to the wolves who protect the village from the dark forces of the forest.
Cursed centuries ago in order to save the village, the five wolves that make up the pack are more than ready for their sacrifice. Something is different this time, however. The sacrifice is not only female, but can also see the wolves in their original form. And, now that they have her, they are not going to let her go.
Zoe Blake and Alta Hensley’s take on Little Red Riding Hood was deliciously dark and very delectable! I truly though they created a fantastic retelling of this fairy tale that seemed both familiar to readers but unique at the same time.
Raina, or Red as she is called because of the color of her hair, has never known love of any kind in her life. When she is forced to sacrifice to save the village, she expects to die at the hands of wild animals, but is instead, forced to submit to men who are now more beast than man. The more time she spends with them, the more Red learns about herself and her own needs and desires while catering to theirs. The wolves will have Red submit, but they’ll also keep her safe as they each form a bond with her that will tie them together for eternity.
While definitely an erotic tale, I though the authors did a great job of writing a plot that was more than just steamy scenes and created a story that was not only spectacularly hot but interesting to read. 4 stars!
Manipulating elders, naive villagers, one little Red and five BIG wolf men throw all those together and you get one sexy twisted dirty version of Little Red Riding Hood.
I loved the originality of the plot on the retailing of a childhood fairytale that’s made to cater to adults.
It’s a short book but it’s packed full of suspense, evil and a whole lot of sexiness.
I liked Raina (Red) she’s a sweet young lady with a great sense of justice.
She tries to right the wrongs that have been bestowed on others.
The five big bad wolfs are sexy dominant beasts with so much built up anger and resentment towards the villagers.
And Red is about to be thrown to the wolves, literally and figuratively!
Read Red and the Wolves to find out what these wolves have planned for innocent Red!
This was an enjoyable reverse harem with a twist on the classic fairy tale Red Riding Hood. It’s a fast paced read that brings us to learn about the five alpha male men that are cursed to live as wolves and why Red ends up with them. There were moments that I found to be funny like when Snow was mentioned and some of her characteristics, I’ve read Snow’s story before this book and although they’re standalone’s I liked how they’re mentioned. Red is young and a bit naive at times but at the same time I found her character to be strong and confident too.
Fantastic twist to fairy tales. Can’t wait to read the next one
Red and the Wolves
Dark And oh so Delicious Tale of betrayal, Sacrifice and forbidden romance.
As this is my first read of Alta and Zoey’s books, It most certainty won’t be my last! My heart still racing from this sultry, sinfully dark fantasy read, I am in awe of how this dark tale has stirred so many emotions, especially the emotions that have left me heated, wet and wanting more! The shock and surprise that such a tale of sexual encounters with m/f/m , f/m f/5m , sexual experiences that ive never found appealing to me; actually had me so hot and excited for what they had in store. The story of young Raina (Red) damned from the start. Her grandmother hates her because she lived through the birth but her mother did not. With her father also dead who will help Raina when her grandmother finally decides to make her pay for being born? Red lives in a village where a Ancient tale is told of powerful wolf protectors who protect the people from a very dark evil force. A protection that comes at a price. A sacrifice. Raina has heard the tale of the blood moon and as the time is coming upon them, Raina is not worried as the sacrifice has always been the youngest unmarried adult male of each family ,who would be chosen for the test to decide the ultimate sacrificial lamb, but as a member of the council, has Raina’s grandmother’s twisted view of her and her plot of revenge finally come to call on Raina? Raina a strong, sassy, fiery redhead and also a virgin and now the ultimate sacrifice. Scrubbed clean and in her shimmery white dress and bright red hooded robe with her basket of goodies, will these wolves devour her like their wild animal namesakes ? In the clearing What Red finds is not what she expected! Red can see the wolves as they truly are, which is so mind blowing to them and to Red. These enchanted wolves she sees as men! Men who are definitely beasts, but not what she expected. They have to take her and she calls to all of them. Is this a sign of change? What does this mean? Is she the one to release them from their curse? Can Raina be the sacrifice she is meant to be & do all that is required? Red and the wolves drew me in as if I were a part of their story. Fighting the evil force shows Red what these strong sexy wolf men truly sacrificed. The wolves feel Red just as deeply as she feels them. She wants to serve them and please them for all they have done and continue to do. Can she free them from this Ancient curse? The sex is off the charts HOT!, hot Hot! And I have cried, laughed and felt the need of a cold shower but could not stop until the end. I absolutely loved the ending! You lady’s have set the bar on this one! I would recommend this book as a must read. I can’t wait for what’s in store next!! I’m sure it will be just as dark and delicious
I really really like the idea of dark fairy tales like Grimm’s but grittier. This definitely hit that mark! The main characters sexual awakening was spectacular. The wolves are alpha male at their best. If you like some rough submission you’re in for a treat. So excited for the next installment.
A adult version of the fairy tale of Red Riding Hood and not one wolf, but five wolves, add in a curse, evil grandmother, and evil dark force in the forest and you get a really cute read. I enjoyed it, even though some items were just kind of skipped over with no explanation or resolve the overall read was entertaining.
Short, hot, dark, dirty adult version of fairytale Little Red Riding Hood. Oh and 5 wolves making it a reverse harem. Thoroughly enjoyed this book!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
WOW! Little Red Riding Hood will never be the same for me again. Love Alta and Zoe’s dark, sexy, twisted fairytale. Five big bad wolves and one Red give us a very steamy sexy 5-star read.
This adult fairy tales is brilliantly written. Red & The Wolves is an edge-of-your seat read and one I found I couldn’t put down once I started.
Alta Hensley and Zoe Blake did a gorgeous job writing this steamy adult fairy tale!!
Five men were changed into wolves to protect the town hundreds of years ago. When the blood moon rises, the village must send the wolves a sacrifice in order to have the wolves protection from the evil in the forest.
Red is given to the wolves as the sacrifice and, boy, how they claim her in every way possible. Red and her wolves is a smokin’ hot read! I can’t wait for the next book!
Dark Fantasy series, Book #2. Red Riding Hood, grandma, and the big bad wolf? Think again! This book is stunning!
Raina’s biggest sin? Being born to a mother, who defied her mother, a village elder with an insatiable thirst for power. When Raina’s mother dies in childbirth, it’s her grandmother, Hildegarde who takes Raina in. Kindness? Oh, no. Hildegarde hates her granddaughter, making Raina’s life a living hell. Being the only redhead in the village isolates her even more, and she soon becomes Red. The machinations and deeply held secrets held by the village elders are cloaked in centuries of myth. As head of the elders, Hildegarde has her own agenda. No tradition is more steeped in mystery than the darkness that nearly destroyed the village centuries ago. Five volunteers saved the village from the evil threatening their existence. But at what cost? Those men may have been volunteers but had no clue what lay ahead. Cursed by magic, betrayed by the elders, the five men were banished for eternity. But even that wasn’t enough. Every century, when the blood moon arises, a sacrifice must be made to the cursed men, now enchanted wolves. Without the sacrifice, the protection disappears. The sacrifices have always been men, banished and never seen again. Why then is Red the first woman ever been chosen? But going against centuries of tradition is unthinkable. As she’s carefully prepared, then thrust into the darkness beyond the village walls, she comes face to face with the wolves. But…wait. These aren’t wolves. They’re brutish, hulking, and huge, but they’re definitely men. What? As first betrayal, then outright terror, overtake Red, she soon learns nothing’s as it should be. Oh, the curse is very real. But nothing else seems to be. As Red’s forced to submit to these rough men, she learns there’s so much more to them, and herself, than she could ever have imagined. But with her new life come rules…and consequences. As she bows to the inevitable, can there be any acceptance of this new life? Then the unthinkable happens. Her control is ripped even further from her, shattering her world again. Forced to return to the village, will they accept her? No one’s ever returned before. One thing is certain. Her duplicitous grandmother will NOT be happy! Has Red just gone from the frying pan into the fire? There are no answers, only question after question. And the biggest question of all is what will Red have to sacrifice? It’s not just her life in jeopardy. Is she really willing to pay the ultimate price?
Zoe Blake and Alta Hensley have again struck gold! This is no Disney fairytale. It’s not even the gruesome story created by the Brothers Grimm. It’s so much more, and I adored it. For me, the hook that pulled me into this story is the juxtaposition of this story versus the familiar Disney and Brothers Grimm fairy tales. Red’s a total innocent. Despite that, she’s incredibly defiant, resilient, sexy, and even wanton. Surprise doesn’t begin to describe my reaction to Red. She’s desperate to escape what seems her inevitable fate, but in the process learns unimaginable things about herself that she couldn’t have believed possible. Zoe Blake and Alta Hensley could have made Red a mere caricature of a classic fairy tale heroine. Instead, they’ve created an incredibly powerful woman with the ability to stand up to every challenge thrown at her and more. And the men? Grimm, Beo, Canis, Helm, and Rood turn this story upside down and inside out. Demanding, dominating, alone for centuries, they truly are brutes. Red is the first woman they’ve seen in centuries. Their animal natures may control them. But there are so many subtleties and variations in these men. Red isn’t the only one who learns exactly who and what she is. I absolutely loved this story! Is this dark? Yes! Hot and steamy? In every way! And, again, Ms. Blake and Ms. Hensley weave moments of humor that bring light and hope into the story. Zoe Blake and Alta Hensley have done it again! Congratulations Ms. Blake and Ms. Hensley! This book deserves nothing less than five stars! I loved it!
A final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language, dark themes, and dubious/nonconsensual sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON’T ENJOY THE BOOK. It’s not fair to the authors. They work hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you’ll object to a book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the authors an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
A very naughty, filthy twist on the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale. Red is literally thrown to the wolves by her village as the sacrifice in exchange for protection. She must learn to obey and submit to the 5 very big, bad wolves.
When the moon is eclipsed four times in two seasons, there is said to be blood on the moon.
Today, the selection is going to take place. Raina who has been called Red all her life has been raised by her unloving grandmother. A grandmother who has hated her long before taking her first breath.
Pushing Red to become the next sacrifice… Passing through the heavy metal doors, never to return. Just like all the previous sacrifices.
Beyond the doors, lives the Big Bad Wolf. Tales for many years have spread about the Big Bad Wolf. Only here, we have 5 of them and only One Little Red! Oh my….
When these 2 authors collaborate together in these fairytale remakes, I have come to mentally prepare myself for anything goes. Anything at any time. I’ve never really pictured Little Red Riding Hood wearing a homemade pearl necklace. But in Red and the Wolves, she walks around sporting a beautiful one. Never forgetting who she truly belongs to…all 5 of them!!!
