Collect the girl. Speak some vows. Inherit the fortune. Nowhere in the requirements did it say anything about falling in love.
Melinda thinks she’s just coming to grandma’s for dinner, but she’s wrong. She’s wrong about a lot of things. None of which is my business.
The only business I have is to settle the open accounts on my uncle’s books, so I can collect my inheritance and move on with my … uncle’s books, so I can collect my inheritance and move on with my life. Collecting Melinda in order to cross off her grandfather’s debt wasn’t hard, but she’s not exactly marching gracefully up to the auction block for me.
I’m not the monster here.
I’m not the one who sold her to my uncle, I’m just the collector. My hands are as bound as hers thanks to the whims of our families. But with her red hair, and fiery spirit, Melinda’s giving me more trouble than I anticipated.
Good thing, I don’t run from trouble.

Although this is part of a series, you can read it as a standalone.
Red is the story of Melinda and Erik. Erik is left to take care of some things after his Uncle passes. One involves settling some debts left to the family. He collects Melinda as payment for the debt of her Grandfather although at the same time he vows to not participate in the illegal aspects of these families.
The interaction of these old corrupt families is intriguing and you will want to know more about them. There are some unexpected twists regarding who is really the good guy and who is a bad guy in this story. I really enjoyed the flow of the story and the darker elements.

A well done story that is an enjoyable read. I don’t like redone fairy tales but this story did not read as one. This allowed me to enjoy the book. Other than a very limited touching on the Red Riding Hood Story it was a creative approach to the tale. The twist in the story kept it fresh and really caught your attention. Overall, a good read.
Not exactly like the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale I read as a child! This adult version certainly put the wolf in a whole new role, one where just maybe Red wants the wolf as much as she fears the wolf. This dark romance featured plenty of steamy scenes with a bit of intrigue and suspense. Another enjoyable romance by Measha Stone.
Who knew the big bad wolf was actually lovable!?
Melinda is thinking about her book writing and headed to her Grandma’s for dinner…but little does she know how her life is going to change!
Erik is a wolf that has to fulfill his evil Uncle’s will before he and his brother’s are free of his clutches.
These two go on one wild adult fairytale. She lights a fire under him every chance she gets…and he’s just dying to sink his teeth into her.
I couldn’t have enjoyed this book anymore than I did. I think it’s time to re-read all the Ever After’s!
I loved this modern day take on little red riding hood. Measha Stone is so good with words. Once i started reading this i couldn’t put the book down.
A take on Little Red Riding Hood. This book will keep you on your toes. Erik is the perfect bad guy you grow to love. And Melinda is not a sappy pushover. Measha Stone writes the best dark romances. (I actually think they are more gray area than dark, my opinion). But the stories are always entertaining and great. Another hit in a fabulous series!
Another great story from Measha Stone.
Melinda had no idea that she was the collateral for her grandfather’s gambling debt until she was abducted when she went to visit her grandmother at her home. Erik may not want to abduct Melinda but his plans for the future are contingent on him not only taking her but selling her as well. Will Erik be able to give Melinda up especially since he isn’t the one person who wants her?
This is a modern re-telling of Little Red Riding Hood with a twist. I enjoyed both these characters as Melinda wasn’t about to just sit back and accept her fate while Erik proved he was a wolf except when it came to her.
Red is the third book in the Ever After series. Melinda is on her way to her grandmother’s house for dinner, but as soon as she arrives, she’s taken by Erik. Her whole life is in a whirlwind, she’s not in control, and Erik has a plan. Soon he is looking for a loophole to keep Melinda for his own, but there’s danger all around. Can Erik keep Melinda safe and his heart secure, or will he lose it all?
Oh my goodness, this book is darkly sweet and I loved every single second I spent reading this book. Melinda and Erik are a perfect match, but there’s some darker intents, secrets, and desires that could get in their way. I loved the way that Melinda fought for her freedom and her innocence to the darker world, but she brought light and purpose and so much passion to Erik’s world. So much happens to her in such a short time and I think she took the changes better than I ever would have. Erik has a tightly caged beast inside of himself, and he had to do some shady things to follow his dreams – but that brought Melinda to himself. Some of the things he did was to protect his family and Melinda, which was the sweet part, but he didn’t always go about it in a sweet way. My absolute favorite part of this book was not only their passion, but how they became each other’s rocks during the storms they faced. There’s definitely some darker themes in this book, but Ms. Stone has such talent to make it almost decadent. I loved the Red Riding Hood undertones to this romance and I mean, really, I just loved reading this book!
This is a great take on an old favorite. Melinda and Erik/Red and Wolf give us a real run for our money, and it’s dark but not so deep that it takes over the story. Red may be the price of the debt, but she is no pushover. I love her feisty responses to Erik. This was such an entertaining read with some characters you can’t help but love. Their chemistry was off the charts hot!
“And in the end, they were both warmed with her light.”
A retelling of the fairy tale but it’s so much richer, darker, and sexier. I was late to the party at the Annex but am catching up. Erik has a job to do to fulfill his uncle’s last wishes. He’s a good man single-mindedly choosing to do bad things for the greater good of his family. Melinda is part of this, and the plot becomes a bit surreal in the modern world. Erik has some darker tastes that suited Melinda perfectly. I loved this story (it’s not super dark) and the action at the end really had me biting my nails! Superbly written, great plot, and well-developed characters.
The Queen of retelling fairytales with a twist is back with Erik and Melinda, and it’s a hairy read 😉
Little Red Riding Hood takes on an entirely new light as we’re introduced to Erik and Melinda within the Beast and Tower world. We have the same edginess and sexiness of B & T, with the possessive and protective nature of the male beast and the sultry yet fierce female character to keep him in check.
I hope this serial retelling continues from Ms. Stone as each one just gets better and so far she hasn’t written a book with characters I haven’t fallen in love with!
Intense shivering goodness… If you like your Happily Ever After tales with a large dose of stomach-clenching, heart-stopping intensity, stop reading reviews and pick this one up! Set in the scintillating world of the Annex, I found myself engulfed in the lifestyle of those who take what they want regardless of the consequences. Erik’s needs tend to be darker than most and Melinda may just be the perfect match if they can get past the circumstances than brought them together. I loved this modern retelling of Red and the Wolf and found this story to be one I will return to again and again.
Little Red Ridinghood has always been a favorite of mine. Even as a young child I was captivated by the dark tale (being eaten by a wolf is dark), and I spent a lot of time thinking of how else the story could have gone. The BBW in this one is the perfect anti-hero. He’s dark, brooding, angry, conflicted, and sexy as hell. Red is strong, determined, and brave. She isn’t one to take crap or back down. I love the interactions between them, and the chemistry is amazing. The story has elements of suspense, and a few surprises that I wasn’t expecting. I would love to see Eric’s brothers get stories of their own.
This was so exciting full of family drama and danger lurking around every corner. Melinda is in for a huge surprise visiting Grandma when she comes face to face with the big bad controlling wolf but everything is not what it seems Erik might have a plan and presents choices but Melinda gives back ten fold and oh boy that fiery woman can hold her own and push all the buttons. I loved the characters and the story was fantastic with all the twists and turns and surprises waiting.
This book takes place in the same world as Beast and Tower. You can read it as a standalone, but you might enjoy it more if you have read Beast and Tower. This is a bit of twist to the story of Red Riding Hood.
Instead of who is afraid of the Wolf, this is more who has the lust for the Wolf. He might be a bit scary though.
It is a book filled with family dynamics. The good and the bad. The story has twist and turns and not everything is as it seems. It will keep your guessing.
While I enjoyed the book, i do wish it had more interaction between Erik and Melinda outside the bedroom.
My, what a big……….
I just loved this book! Erik and Melinda were such an entertaining couple to follow in this darker romance. What starts out as collecting on a business deal becomes so much more! Erik big, bad, a little hairy and a dominant alpha male had his hands full with Melinda, sassy, spunky and a challenge. Lots of sparks, chemistry and heat, some twists and turns and the sex scenes…… OMG shivers! Enjoy!
I love these types of books and this one was hot! The more I read about Erik and Melinda aka Red, the more I feel in love with them. Red, is a beautiful, strong woman and Erik is a gorgeous Alpha male. The adult version of Little Red Riding hood.
(Ever After bk3)
Holy hotness! What a fantastic way to spend a Sunday. If you like heavy handed dominance correcting bad behavior this is for you. Sexy and warm despite the situation she is in. Throughly put in place by her captive (not overtly creepy way). The story twists and maintains a level of interest throughout. The sex scenes…well sign me up!
Melinda was having a bad day when she went to her grandmother’s house and discovered that instead of them having dinner, she was being picked up as payment for her Grandfather’s gambling debt…Erik and his brothers were collecting a debt that had to be fulfilled so they could get their inheritance from their evil uncle. There were a few other restrictions, like Erik marrying, but the biggey was getting Melinda so the brothers could get along with plans for a new casino in town. Erik planned on letting Melinda have a choice in how she payed the debt owed to his uncle’s estate, including going to work for Ash in the Annex…but things were not as they seemed as Granny left town, and another member of the old family structure, Mr. Bertucci offered to buy her for an astronomical amount and how were these things interconnected…but you will need to read this thrilling fairy tale takeoff to see where it lands…I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.
