In this installment of the Mosaic Chronicles, dangers intensify as Nicole and her friends prepare for the arrival of horrifying creatures from another dimension—beasts that seek to bring the demise of earth and all its inhabitants. To protect themselves, Nicole and Austin wear devices that prevent these monsters from detecting them. But in a weak moment, Austin’s is destroyed. Nicole seeks … seeks restitution by traveling to Romania to obtain an important metal needed to repair his device. While there, she finds that the Tarians have planned something bigger than killing all Aretes, something far more dangerous, with much greater consequences.
Will she have time to stop the corrupt Tarians before the evil beings arrive, or will she and those she loves be destroyed by their otherworldy visitors?

This is such a great book! I was on the edge of my seat while reading this. Nicole has to put herself to the test and save all the Aretes in the world. She will finally face off with her grandmother and the Great Ones. Will she be able to save the world and herself?
The battle lines are drawn and both good and evil sides are openly recruiting full- tilt. Austin and Nicole make a horrible mistake that could lose the war. Nicole and Lizzie bring peace to many while destroying the Tarian headquarters. The final showdown between the Tarian, Aretes and the Great Ones is full of magic, quick thinking, blood and death. This story ends with Professor Coolidge telling Nicole and Austin that he has a teenager (Jacob, Kilenya series) he would like them to meet. From the non-stop action to the end-of-the-world battle climax, this book has all the right moves. It’s an overall clean book with some light romance and some disturbing images. I loved the HEA and even though there is a teaser (From the Kilenya series) at the end leading into the second half of the series (The Mosaic Chronicles) I still felt completely happy with the whole book. This was the last book in the original Katon University series, but that series has since been renamed the Mosaic Chronicles and expanded into a new adventure with characters from both the Katon University and Kilenya series’. The Mosaic Chronicles really need to be read in order as they take up one by one where the previous one left off. None of the books are stand-alone by any stretch of the imagination. I recommend this book to all teens and adults who love intrigue, action, adventure, romance, magic and the supernatural.
I originally purchased this as a part of the 5 book Omnibus, so this review may not show as a verified purchase, but the set was a significant savings over purchasing each book individually. I also differ greatly from other reviewers on this book, which is why I wanted to write a review here.
If the series took you down the crazy road before, now it has completely dove off the deep end. I still maintain that this is a Young Adult age level read, and do recommend that you read books 1-4 before this one. There are several twists and turns, however not all of them are good. Pearson does build the suspense in this book to the epic conclusion which is what I was looking for. All the while, Nicole continues to build her Arete powers and Pearson artfully describes her trials and successes in ways I hadn’t thought of.
One such twist is at about 2/3 the way through the book, the story takes an unexpected and dangerous turn for Nicole which threatens to derail her plans if she’s not successful with her mission. Pearson sets her up against impossible odds, yet somehow her characters still prevail. The fact that the characters completely fly by the seat of their pants and remain unscathed is unfathomable to me. It’s almost as if things were going too easily, so the author threw in a curveball to make things more interesting, but still took the easy way out and lets everyone steamroll ahead unharmed. This predictability was disappointing to continue to experience throughout the series and by the final book (in this chapter of Nicole’s live), I had been expecting more. At least there was a conclusion, and the epic battle was addressed appropriately (although it was still outlandish and a complete overload of Science Fiction).
In the end I was mainly reading to satisfy my curiosity of what would happen in the final battle between Aretes and Tarians and I had already purchased the 5 book set. Although I know by now that there are many other books in this series, I will not be pursuing them at this time.
The story really heats up in Reclaim, the 5th book in the Mosaic Chronicles. Frustration mounts as Nicole and friends get ready for the Tarian/Arete war and the fight against the Great Ones. Will there be enough Arete manpower to hold back the Great Ones? Is it even possible? Will the sheer numbers of Tarians stop the friends? Nicole continues to work on her magic abilities, honing and perfecting her skills and discovers a greater plot behind the Tarian’s plans. Hang on for the ride of your life! *I received a free eBook copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*
A terrific series and so very well written. Charters are solid and relatable. Your taken on a journey that leaves you shaken
And sad when it’s over. Leaves you wanting more and and yet satisfied and happy you read it.
I am going to make this review short and sweet. If you’ve enjoyed the Mosaic Chronicles so far then you will want to, need to, buy this book – and will be happy you did so. While there is certainly room to continue this book does provide a cap, including a nicely handled final conflict between the Aretes and the Tarians. (Having said that, if you’ve not tried any of these books yet, go to the first: this is not the place to start off with.)
Well written, string characters and fun to read (just as it’s predecessors). Clearly deserving a strong recommendation.
PS: I almost never give 5 stars (Dune gets 5, but not any of it’s sequels, for example), but this one just deserved it.
This is a fantastic read. Nicole and her friends prepare for the a battle. This has tons of magic. Epic Battles. Its fast paced and action packed. This Author writes Epic Mystery and Magic tales. And she really hits her books out of the park. This read grabs you right from the start. Is heart pumping, edge of your seat excitement. From first page to the last. The characters are brought out so well and the surroundings that you can really get a picture of it in your mind. This is definitely a must read. For fantasy lovers you like action.

Wow, how exciting this book has been. Started off with a lot of mysterious events for the gang to figure out. Nicole especially had a lot to deal with due to her uncaring parents plus not being able to enjoy the comfort of Austin being near her. She had to learn a lot of new powers in anticipation of fighting the Tarians one day. Of course toward the end was the big battle with all the Tarians, creepy monsters and then the ‘Great Ones’. It was very exciting and very entertaining.
THIS SERIES IS THE GREATEST!!!
Way to twist this volume up and out! Talk about the wow factor, you get so caught up in the amazing imagination that you can feel every nuance of what’s going on around you. Andrea just keeps bringing it.
This fifth installment in the Mosaic Chronicles was bittersweet: awesome because of all the action, even up until the very end, and sad because it’s over! I have so far, thoroughly enjoyed this series and have no doubt that the next 5 books in this series will be just as cool and fun. Normally I write out a longer review, but I’m honestly just super content about the way this long adventure ended and have nothing else to mention. I applaud you, Andrea Pearson, and THANK YOU.
I have only one “negative” about the book: not long enough! But I only say that because I want more of this world!!!
