While this series started out pretty good, I feel with each book it gets more repetitive and lacking in story. I feel that the overall story was lacking in this book. It had some interesting ideas but just fell flat in the end. Nothing stood out in this book and it will quickly be forgotten.
I liked Player and Zyah, for the most part. They both had interesting abilities, especially Player with his illusions. But their relationship quickly became repetitive and slightly boring. I ended up skimming parts of it because of this.
Overall, this book was just ok. Nothing stands out and it will quickly be forgotten. Feehan’s books have felt very repetitive for a while now and it’s possible this will be the last book I read of hers.

Romantic, Sexy, Psychic Twinkle, and a Sci Fi Twist
Reckless Road is a beautiful, and touching love story. Player and Zhay’s connection was immediate. But, Player makes mistakes like his fellow Torpedo Ink brothers when they find women willing to accept them the way they are. I loved how Player went to work and immediately started making amends to Zhay. Part of Player’s issue along with PTSD, is he doesn’t believe he brings the same value to the team as his brothers, and sisters. Add in the secrets he keeps that his illusions can become reality, and kill. His nightmares of childhood abuse have taken on the appearance of the White Rabbit/Sorbacov. Even in death Sorbacov still haunts Player. Zhay’s a wonderful character, and assists, and brings Player a degree of peace during the nightmares by being psychically linked. She has an affinity to the earth, and can tell when someone is telling the truth or lying. She’s soft, without any hard edges, caring, loving, stubborn when she wronged, and won’t allow anyone to mistreat her. Their sexual chemistry is off the chart. Very sexy!
There’s a group of robbers that are targeting the elderly in Casper, and Sea Haven, and Zhay’s grandmother unfortunately is attacked, beaten, and robbed. Why do the robbers keep returning to Mama Anat’s house? What are they looking for? This is Player’s way in to make amends to Zhay by watching out for her grandmother, and Mama Anat helps Player view himself differently, and admonishes him to fight for Zhay’s love.
There’s an unexpected Sci Fi twist to the story that I really enjoyed. We see old friends, and meet new ones, and maybe a possible love interest for Preacher.
This series just blows my mind it’s so freaking GOOD…
Player… Yep tough as nails till he meets Zyah.
All of the members of Torpedo Ink are scarred and wounded but so far Player is the worst of them all. He tore my heart out that is for sure.
No one really knew of his abilities until now… Can Zyah save him from himself? Wow, hold on to your seat for this twisted, mentally mind-numbing, suspense-filled story. Can’t wait to see who is next.
Amazing Book
I have followed the Torpedo Ink series since the very first book came out and each and every one of them have been 5+*** reads. Reckless Road was no different. This author has always brought the men and women of Torpedo Ink MC to life and breaks my heart with what they have been through every time.
This is Player’s story. As with all Torpedo Ink MC, Player has a special ability but along with that comes danger. Then one night when he was near breaking and his head ready to explode a beautiful woman was in his room so he had to decide after the best and most intense night of his life if Ayah was real or one of his illusions. Thinking she had to be an illusion he had said some things that broke her heart. Now it is his mission to have Ayah see how much he loves her and needs her in his life. She heals not only his head but his soul as well.
Their intense connection was epic and their story was mind boggling. I have always loved how these men and women were always there to protect the innocent each with their own special abilities. I always look forward to see what this author has in store next for Torpedo Ink MC.
A wild ride towards forever! With book five in her always entertaining Torpedo Ink series Christine Feehan brings us Player’s story in RECKLESS ROAD and it was quite the ride. I enjoyed Gedeon and Zyah together and there were aspects of the story that I loved, but there were also parts that were a bit out there. I hope as the series continues that we get back into the heart of the family of being the MC instead of playing up the supernatural aspect so much. Early books in the series were great … the last couple were meh-ish. I love the group as a whole though, so I’m going to keep trying and hoping it picks back up again.
Player is a core part of the heart of the MC and seeing how much he gives of himself in order to protect is family is really touching. I enjoyed watching him fall for Zyah and find his own version of happiness.
Zyah is strong-willed and tenacious and I loved her for Player.
I recommend this series to anyone who loves a close knit group of MC members who are like family and always there to support their brothers and sisters through the good times and the bad.
This book was so freaking good! I think this is the best one since the second book. It had a great romance as well as the bad guys that were close to home rather than ones that the club chose to go after. I loved Zyah as a character because not only was she strong (like all the women have to be) but she just knew how much Player needed her help in order to survive. I also enjoyed that while the story of his past wasn’t glossed over it wasn’t the focus of this book like it seemed to be in the last one. It affected what was happening but that wasn’t the reason for his mental breaks. Honestly, this book was a can’t put down read and I stayed up way too late reading it. Don’t miss out on this one!
*I received an ARC for an honest review*
I think this is the best of the series.
Geoden “Player” Lazaroff has a unique talent that can wreak havoc if he uses it to long. Returning home from New Mexico, he had used his talent to much and was in a bad place. He makes it home and in his room he finds a woman who takes it all away for him. Unfortunately he manages to screw it all up the next morning. It’s up to him and Torpedo Ink to find her and try to win her over and in the mean time keep her safe. I really enjoyed getting to know Player. He hasn’t been a very prominent character in preceding books. Zyah is the perfect match for him and their relationship was sweet. Some of the story is a bit fantastical but that didn’t bother me as it has some of the other reviewers, books are supposed to be about escapism.
This one is my favorite of the series so far.
Player and Zyah compliment each other perfectly. They are in sync with one another even though they fight it every single day.
Zyah comes into Player’s life on a night where he is deprived of sleep and has a massive headache, she manages to heal him with her voice and dance. He is dismissive of her, and regrets it as soon as he realizes what he did the next morning and begins looking for her.
There is danger lurking in every shadow and corner. But Zyah and Player have to work together along with Jonas and Jackson in order to bring down the threat to the community. However, there is still one thing that came from her ancestor that remains a mystery.
There is many times when things could have gone wrong in this book, but Christine manages to bring them all together and keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more. The chemistry between Player and Zyah grows and connects them even farther. I have loved each book in this series and am always ready for more.
Received ARC in exchange for voluntary honest review from Edelweiss
I find this series a hard read sometimes, given the underlying subject matter but I love her writing. The characters are well structured and I look forward to the next book. Christine is one of my all time favourite authors.
Another fantastic read from the queen!
This was a perfect read I LOVED these two together and watching this unfold was the perfect drama. It was a palpable read that you were absolutely enthralled with watching. Sexy and on edge, this romance leaves you wanting for nothing.
This was just like the other book in the series int he fact that once you start you can’t put it down. The plot is ever evolving and you are on the ride with no seat belt.
If you have read the other books in this series I am here to inform you that you will enjoy this one as well. If not, go start with book one.
I thought this was one of Christine Feehan’s best books….just enough sex to make it interesting and the story line was excellent with a few twists!
“Right now, just looking at him, she could probably have a mini-orgasm if she let herself get close enough to smell him while she looked into his eyes.”
As with all of the Torpedo Ink members, they run cold until they meet the one and then all bets are off. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy seeing these broken badass bikers find their other half. If you’ve read the other books in the series you know the backstory, if not, buckle your seat belt. They are fierce and loyal as well as dangerous and deadly.
Each member has a special gift. I can’t tell you what Player’s is, but he’s met his match with Zyah. She’s not intimidated by his size, his tattoos, or his scars. She sees past his appearance to his pain and doesn’t run… until she does. Not because she’s afraid, but because he says hurtful things that can’t be unsaid. There’s a reason for that. Too bad she disappears before he has a chance to explain or ask for forgiveness. Or, ask for her number.
I can’t tell you how much I love this series. The author has such a mind-blowing talent and pulls me in from almost the first word. She creates such imaginative stories that are so intriguing and thought-provoking that I’m still thinking about them long after I turn the last page. Reckless Road was no different. My mind is still whirling with possibilities and I can’t wait to get my hands on more. The line forms here…
Reckless Road is the fifth novel to Christine Feehan’s Torpedo Ink series. If you’ve read the previous books, you know this book will take you for an emotional ride. Christine Feehan has become an auto-buy author now since I’ve read several of her books and fell for her storylines and characters.
Female Protagonist: Zyah is a beautiful Middle Eastern dancer (Belly Dancer). She works at the local grocery store after giving up her international job. She nows lives with her grandmother since she was attacked when her house was burglarized. Zyah is very compassionate toward others, not only her grandmother but Player, too, especially after she first meets him.
Male Protagonist: Gedeon “Player” Lazaroff is a member of the Torpedo Ink Motorcycle Club. He has illusion/psychic powers that can cause him to be sick with migraines if used often. He’s like his other Torpedo Ink members that have been abused in his past and trained to be an assassin or, in the case of Player, to build bombs. He’s unique in his own way, though, because he would rather stay away from Zyah instead of ruining her, but he can’t because he has fallen for her. I really liked his character and getting to know him in his book.
My Thoughts: I actually enjoyed Player and Zyah’s story more than the previous books. I think it’s due to the connection these two characters had with each other. Zyah and Player hit it off immediately, but not as instant love. Player screws up really badly with Zyah, but he is determined to make everything right with her. I love knowing he had to win her back, and she didn’t make it easy for him. Player does get her hurt in this book, which readers will find out that not only Torpedo Ink members have special powers over them. I loved getting to know some of the other characters in this book that actually received their book(s) from earlier series that Christine Feehan wrote. I really need to read the Drake Sisters series to find out how these characters met their true loves. I loved how some of the Torpedo Ink members are scared of these characters.
In Reckless Road, though, there is another storyline happening where aggressive burglars are targeting the elderly. Torpedo Ink gets involved after finding out Zyah’s grandmother got attacked. They are on a mission to protect her and protect the other elderly in the area. This part of the book had me wondering who was behind the elderly until a certain character showed up to Zyah, and I knew something was up with that person. I was able to figure out what was going on right away. It didn’t stop me from reading the book, though, because I needed to find out if Torpedo Ink would do their damage to those horrible people.
Overall, I gave this book 4-stars. I loved Zyah and Player in this book. I wouldn’t say I liked having to read Player’s past, though. I know it’s important to tell what he went through, but it made me want to go through the book and get revenge for him and the other Torpedo Ink members. Each time it gets worst and worst finding out what these members went through and how they survived. Player was very vulnerable in this book after telling everyone what happens to him after his illusions. Zyah was there for him along the way, which helped him. I loved her character.
I found the ending interesting in this book because it involved something magical and dangerous. I won’t give it away to readers who haven’t read this book.
Standalone or Part of Series: It’s part of the Torpedo Ink series. Readers could read them out of order, but you will miss out on the previous characters that received their HEA.
Steaminess: Steamy This book was much different with the steaminess than the other books in the series. Player was not like his other Torpedo Ink members.
Trope: Fated Mates; Motorcycle Club Romance; One Night Stand
Triggers: Flashbacks of what happened to Player when he was younger include child abuse (sexually and physically). There is also violence against the elderly in this book.
HEA: Yes
Would I recommend this book? Yes. I would recommend this book to Paranormal Romance readers and Romantic Suspense readers. I’ve tried every time to keep my reviews short, but it’s impossible. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series because I hope either Preacher or Maestro get their books. I also want Alena and Lana to get their books too. There are so many more members that deserve HEA after what they had gone through when they were younger.
Christine Feehan left me wanting more after this book. She’s starting to grow on me now, and I’m glad I found her books. Now, I need to read everything she’s written, which is a lot.
Player know he is beyond exhaustion, he knows that the probability of making mistakes is a reality in this state, he doesn’t know that worst mistake he’s ever made will result. Arriving home and find the beautifully seductive Zyah in his room, making the fatal error of assuming she is a gift from his brothers. Player knows it will be a long road back to her heart
Zyah, believed completely that her gift would lead her to the one man. Player destroys her trust in her gift, her judgment and her trust in him. Her grandmother’s health is now first priority.
Reckless Road is one of the best examples of Ms. Feehan’s ability to weave an emotional, funny, intensely sensual story. We see the fun of the I nterfence of his well meaning siblings to help him redeem himself with Zyah, the softer side of Savage and Destroyer is revealed, a sense of community with Sea Haven and Caspar evolves with the shear fun of Hannah Drake. Her antics and wisdom add another layer of family for all the Torpedo Ink members. You also have the ever present teaser hints of coming stories sprinkled in to make her fans mark their calendars for the next installment.
Another brilliantly written installment to the Torpedo Ink series.
I love how Christine Feehan brings a new twist to the paranormal genre. Great characters and a heartfelt read! I highly recommend!
RECKLESS ROAD, the fifth book of the Torpedo Ink by Christine Feehan, is a gritty, psychological thriller where Gedeon “Player” Lazaroff’s gift gets the better of him. He needs to lie down in a dark place—away form everyone, but that night, he meets a woman who soothes his fractured mind. Zyah, a striking, ethereal beauty, seduces him with every word and every move, making their night together a pure, exquisite bliss, but Player thinks it was all a dream and humiliates her. RECKLESS ROAD gives “going down the rabbit’s hole” a new meaning when Player seeks out Zyah, the only woman who can save him from himself. Christine Feehan turns this explosive romance into a deep-rooted psychic thriller when Player and Zyah stumble upon a malevolent threat that could destroy them both. Where there’s exotic heat, there’s danger. Whew! I could not put the book down.
And I did not think this series could get any better. This book is the best by far. So much information not only about the main characters, but about a many of Torpedo Ink family. There is so much going on in this book, so many mysteries to unravel, and secrets to figure out. Player is Torpedo ink, that is his family, his life, and his reason for being. He has gifts just as all of his family has, only his cause great headaches if he uses them too long. Not a good way to meet the love of your life, the one female that is meant for you. Zyah ended up being the designated driver at a party. She did not want to be there. She ended up escaping to one of the empty rooms until she could leave. She never imagined the most amazing man to enter the room. A night of magic and love, and healing for Player. Only come morning he’s pretty sure it was his imagination. Now she is gone, and he realizes he made the biggest mistake of his life. Zyah and Player have an amazing story. Definitely a page turner and very hard to put down, the book just holds your attention from page one until the very end. Honestly the best book of the series. So far. A side note, another interesting character is Mama Anat, she has found her own place with some of the Torpedo ink men as well. She adds her own awesome touch to the story as Zyah’s grandmother. A must read.
If Feehan writes it is worth reading!!!!
