Discover a world of power, filth and depravity in the steamy and thrilling New York Knights series. The saga continues with this revenge driven, forbidden romance. My life has been destroyed by two men. One, my hero. The other, my worst nightmare. I taste the bitterness of betrayal every day as my body bleeds, suffering the touch of my enemy. It’s a fate chosen for me by others and it’s not … others and it’s not something I can escape. At least, not yet.
I’m determined to survive, my need for vengeance feeding me. I’ll play this game until every piece is in place so I can break them all.
My plan includes Rylan Wolfe, the FBI agent eager to strike a deal. I give him the information he needs to take down a criminal threat, and he gives me the satisfaction of bringing my enemies to their knees.
But my hunger for justice won’t be sated until they’ve burned to ash. And for my plan to succeed I have no choice but to deceive Rylan–the one man who manages to thaw the ice in my veins.
In the end I’ll have to decide whether the revenge I’ve dreamt of for so long is worth losing the man who might be able to free my heart.
This is book one in the New York Knights series with interlinking storylines. Reckless Night shouldn’t be read as a standalone and is the start of a five book series about the alpha protectors of Hart Corporation. Previously published as Red in the Love in Color series

Reckless Night by S.M. West is a romantic suspense that I listened to on audio narrated by Lauren Sweet and Troy Duran. The book was previously published as Red in the Love in Color series.
This book does come with a Warning: “This book contains graphic language, explicit sexual scenes and violence.”
This is the second book of Suzanne’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. I loved the chemistry between Rylan and Tate. The book does end on a cliffhanger but that wasn’t a surprise since it’s the first book in the New York Knights series. I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the series Fallen Night.
Lauren and Troy did an amazing job on the narration. They both know how to bring a story to life.
I would recommend this book if you love romantic suspense or forbidden romances.
Tommie and Max’s story. is full of the chemistry between them. We hear/read how their friendship grows into more .
It had some parts that scared the wits out me. Such a great plot, dark , suspense , fast paced and action.
Brilliant.
Reckless Night
New York Knights, Book 1
By: S.M. West
Narrated by: Lauren Sweet, Troy Duran
Romantic suspense is my go to genre, and SM West has moved to the top of my go to listens! Reckless Night in her New York Knights series has it all! Tate is in an abusive, horrible marriage ad has no support from her family. Working with the FBI is the only way she sees out. Rylan is her handler, and now we not only have an alliance, but a slow burning romance full of twists and turns, danger and passion. I was pulled in from the prologue, and just could not get enough of the story. Tate is a strong woman. She may be broken, but she is tough, and willing to do what it takes to put herself back together. Rylan is smart, overly protective and there to do what needs to be done. Their chemistry is strong, their unreachable goal on the verge of attainable. But will they get there? It’s an intriguing listen you don’t want to miss.
Narration by Lauren Sweet and Troy Duran, I was in for a treat. Sweet has a fantastic voice. Her portrayal of Tate has a strength laced with vulnerability, the perfect combination for her. Duran comes through as Rylan with a smooth, protective tone, encompassing our hearts. I enjoyed these two together and loved their performance.

Reckless Night is a fantastic read that’s filled with thrilling suspense and intrigue. And as well as heartbreaking moments, sexy times, and great characters, the well written and exciting storyline had me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend it!
Red is book 1 of the Love In Color series by S.M. West and can be read as a standalone but some of the characters you’ll come to know will star in the other books of this amazing series.
‘Till the day I die, I’ll never forget the look in Griffin’s eyes. All his strength, compassion and most of all, his love, brimming in his baby blues.’ – Tate
Having met Tate and Rylan in Blue, book 2 of the series, I was keen to start from the beginning and read Red before then jumping into Green, book 3, which is due out this week. S. M. West has written another captivating story about strength, survival and love. She pulls you right into the battles faced by her characters and has you unable to stop reading. As with Blue, I was up until the early hours reading the book all in one go. I was desperate to see what would happen to Tate and Rylan who seemed to have everything stacked against them. Then, just when you think the end is near, S.M. West throws in a few surprises and you are unsure what the outcome will be for this couple. Part of you hopes for a HEA but I’ve learnt not to expect anything from this brilliant author!
‘A devastating blue steals my breath every time he glances my way. I once knew a man with similar eyes. Not quite the same intensity but close enough. The man I love.’ – Tate
After such an addictive and emotional journey whilst reading Blue, I prepared myself for another similar journey with Tate and Rylan but nothing could’ve prepared me for the prologue. I was sat with tears in my eyes and my hand clasped over my mouth as I read about the horror that Tate had to face. However, there was more yet to come and she was going to need to find all the strength she could if she was going to survive the hell chosen for her by her parents. Rylan had dealt with devastating losses in his life but rather than allowing it to destroy him, he used the anger and grief to focus on getting the answers he and his friends needed. He was prepared to do whatever it took but didn’t expect to find an ‘angel’ amongst the ‘demons’ or the feelings she would awaken in him. However, there was something he needed to tell Tate and this information could change everything.
Reading Red has left me wanting to re-read Blue and I’ll definitely be revisiting Carys and Evan before then saying hello to Anna and Davis/Cooper in Green. I want to end this review by saying that I love the idea of using a different colour for each book and having those colours represent different emotions connected to love. So far, we’ve had:
Red – the colour of extremes
Blue – the colour of devotion
Green – the colour of hope
I’m looking forward to seeing what’s planned for the rest of the series.
Solid 4.5 star read for me
This is a raw and gritty read. It’s not a pretty story but it is still a beautiful story. The beauty lies in the strength Tate shows to survive in the hell she calls her life. Betrayed and abused at every turn, it is surprising she has any light left.
Now Bobby…. Bobby may just be in my top 5 most hated characters ever. I don’t think hate is even strong enough for what I think of him.
My favourite character in the story was Ry – alpha FBI Agent with a heart of gold & a deliciously dirty mouth.
I loved the pace of the story, the development of the characters, the plot twists and the supporting characters were people I definitely want to learn more about. It was a fantastic debut book and I am definitely looking for to Van’s story.
This is an intense read, but if you love a good dark thriller, then this is your jam! S.M. West builds great details that help you see the scenes as they unfold. Her characters are well written and she gives the reader the perfect window into their actions and thoughts. There are twists and turns that you don’t see coming and it will keep you on the edge of your seat!
Reckless Night is a great romantic suspense story about Tate and Rylan. I loved the suspenseful storyline and the main characters. Tate and Ry have their HEA but the story continues…..
This review is based on the audiobook.
The narrators did a great job bringing the story to live and varied their voices for each character.
Wowzer! This story!! Keeps me on the edge of my seat really never knowing what was going to happen next. That beginning?! I was like Wha?! Then I was shocked as it started to unfold. This girl is strong! After years of physical/mental abuse she doesn’t cower. Nope not her! She is always working on a plan and that plan has a backup plan. Escape is her final goal. Enter the sexy as heck FBI handler. He is smart and did I mention sexy? He also has an ulterior motive. Not sure if he can help her survive or push her further into desperation.
S.M West is a great story teller. This just flowed right along while keeping me on pins and needles. I did listen to this on audio. Troy Duran and Lauren Sweet are perfect! Troy Duran does excellent on Mr FBI. As well as the other men in here.
