Jami Barrett and Beck Kavenaugh are rivals over the purchase of a piece of prime real estate in Barrett Ridge. They arrive at an all inclusive tropical paradise for her sister’s and his half-brother’s wedding, realizing their families will soon be “related”. As they try to avoid one another, they quickly realize the island is too small for that and find themselves thrust together time and again. Will they be able to control the passion that sizzles between them or let give in and let the fireworks begin? This was a passionate, tender love story with great promise for a successful new series! I received a copy of this book for my honest review.
A wedding between Rob and Anna was going to bring both families together. Each has their own level of dis-function. Beck Kavanagh is the step-brother to Rob and Jami Barrett is Anna’s sister. Both are after a piece of property and only one is going to get it. The tension between them seems to last the whole time they are on this island. Just when everything seems to be falling into place, the contract is awarded. Tensions crop up at the wedding but thankfully the happy couple had no idea what. For Beck he is happy but not at the cost of loosing Jami. Jami is still trying to win the love of her father back. Beck has decided enough is enough. He wants her back and is going to win this time.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a wonderful story. I loved the characters and the family dynamics that made up the book. At first, it was a little confusing with two such large families and keeping everyone straight. But I could really see the fun of the destination wedding with these characters. I loved the interaction between Beck and Jami. They were a joy to read. I look forward to reading more of this delightful family the Barretts of Barrett Ridge.
I recommend this wonderful story to anyone who is looking for a great laugh and a good time.
Jami & Beck are perfect for one another. While attending her sister’s getaway wedding Jami finds out that the man competing against her for the land her father wants is none other than the grooms brother. After spending a week on in an island paradise love blooms, but then the decision on the land causes hard feelings. In the end Jami & Beck decide they are in love and all ends well.
Holly writes of Jami and Beck, rivals in a real estate acquisition who discover that each is a sibling of the bride/ groom. The story is lightened by the fact that they have survived multiple marriages by their parents, resulting in a crowd of children and grandchildren. The cast of characters was a little confusing at first, but became easier as the book progressed. The family provided humor and touches of normal dysfunctional dynamics, while explaining the roots of Jami’s and Beck’s reactive personality traits.
I liked this book because, even though they frequently poked at each other’s wounds, they returned to seek the one thing they weren’t sure they needed or wanted: love. This is a study of the evolution of a relationship in spite of outside factors conspiring against them.(Note to Holly C: kick Teddy’s butt in the next book!)
I can’t wait to read on. I eagerly anticipate more of the Barrett Ridge series. Please be advised that there are sexually explicit scenes, in case that is not your style.
A Caribbean wedding, two enemies vying for the same property, and an attraction that neither can fight. Jami and Beck are both trying to buy the same tract of land for their competing companies and this deal brings up bad blood between them, so when they find each other at the same Caribbean wedding things do not go over well. During the course of the week long festivities, they go from bitter enemies, to grudging allies, to impassioned lovers. But trouble brews in paradise and their new romance may be over before it starts. Is their newfound love strong enough to make it beyond the island?
“Two Reckless Hearts” is a gem of a novella which reads more like a novel. It is expertly written with a captivating storyline. This story was such a good read that I would rate it ten stars if I could. Business rivals and adversaries over property they wish to acquire, Jami and Beck meet at a destination wedding and realize they are soon to be in-laws. From this point the author weaves a fascinating storyline that is filled with sexual tension as rivals and enemies become lovers. All the characters in the story were well developed and personable. Both Jami and Beck came from less than stellar family backgrounds. Both were A type personalities and wanted to be winners. The story held my interest from the first page to the last and I highly recommend it. I know you will enjoy it as I did.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Attending her sister’s week long Caribbean wedding, Jami finds herself swimming in a shark tank when all the players come together. As if her own family wasn’t bad enough, the in-laws have their own set of difficult people, including Jami’s arch-rival Beck. Despite her antagonism towards Beck, Jami can’t help feeling attracted and finds herself thawing towards him. The wedding goes well, but unfortunately when Jami receives bad news just before the ceremony begins, she is thrown in disarray, especially as it also earns her father’s wrath. However Jami is a survivor and ultimately turns the situation around, but the pain of losing Beck is difficult to overcome. The family dynamics of the two families was the stuff made of nightmares, and one could only feel for Jami as she tried to appease her father whilst flying under her step-mother’s radar. Beck is Jami’s equal in every way, but it takes her time to understand and realise that she needs to seize her own opportunities and happiness. This well written book is part of a series, but is nevertheless and standalone and has a very happy ending. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
