For years, we never looked at each other like that. But in a single night, everything changed….Some days, he’s my worst enemy. Other days he’s my best friend.Every day, of course, Adam Maxwell is my cocky prick of a boss, and for the past five years, we’ve been the official power duo at Engelman Sports, closing multi-million dollar contracts like LA’s most well-oiled machine. Honestly, we … machine.
Honestly, we thrive on the daily love-hate.
I call out his womanizing. He rags on my “needy” fiancé. And we carry right on.
Because through thick and thin, our work dynamic has always stayed rock-solid. Fine-tuned to the kind of perfection you couldn’t break if you tried.
Or so I thought.
Until one night.
That was all it took to turn our worlds upside down. One weekend business trip and one birthday surprise gone catastrophically wrong. Long story short, Adam caught me exposed.
I felt him aroused…
And just like that the switch flipped on our dynamic.
For five years, Adam Maxwell and I were just friends. But now?
We’re anything but.

I love everything about this book! The characters are breathtaking. The plot is so detailed and raw. The steam is delicious. I also love how some of the conversations don’t have to be listed out word for word. Absolutely amazing writing!
I really enjoyed this book. I didn’t agree with AJ’s decision towards the end. I think she could have handled it better. A good smack in the head was all she needed.
I have loved every one of Stella Rhys’s books, and this one hits the top of the list. I love the banter and bickering between Adam and AJ. They are a strong oiled machine that compliments each other. AJ can read Adam, and Adam can read AJ; this helps with mood swings and boardroom presentations. Before they are intimate, they still talk about everything and will do anything for the other. I loved that it was a give and take on both sides of this relationship. I love AJ’s quick-witted retorts to Adam’s snarky comments. This was a perfect book to cozy up with and devour quickly.
I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
I was in the mood for a workplace/boss romance and was recommended this read and I am so glad I took the chance. The story was gripping, sexy and I absolutely devoured it not wanting it to end.
Adam and AJ have been boss/assistant for the past five years, strictly professional. While on a business trip AJ turns to Adam for help when she finds her fiancé cheating on her, their relationship takes a turn when they both realise there is something deeper between them, but not wanting to cross lines they brush it of. However, back in the office, the sexual tension is in abundance, both just as desperate for each other until it explodes and some hot office sex follows.
I loved the way they fed of each other, the teasing, the inside jokes, you could tell early on they were made for each other just by how they were around each other. I loved the slow burn of them getting to know each other better on a more personal level, sometimes without them even realising what was happening.
Both the main characters I adored. Adam *sigh* I loved everything about him, alpha, handsome, honest with his feelings, dirty mouth, expert lover, caring and my new book boyfriend. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about him. AJ, she was a fun, strong, feisty lead, wanting to make it on her own merit and I loved how she made Adam drool and could turn him on with a flick of her wrist.
This is one of those books you just fall right into, not being able to tear yourself away. The story flowed, had characters you couldn’t help but love and cheer for, had a good amount of angst and was hot hot hot! This is a stand-alone book in a series, I believe the last book and a new author to me and I will definitely be checking out her other work. A great all the sexy feels read that I highly recommend.

Sports agent Adam and his assistant AJ are a very powerful duo. AJ knows everything there is to know about Adam which is how they work so well together. She is even able to put aside the fact that he sexy as hell…until she can’t. And Adam has been biding his time to show her just how good she is for him. One devastating night, one a-hole fiance, and one spiteful revenge comment and it is on.
I loved this book! A lot of creative sneaking around, sexual tension, and just the right amount of steam. It’s so much fun!
Reckless is a good office, romance. The story drew me in from the very beginning. After years of working together AJ and Adam, knew what to do to get a rise out of eachother. I liked AJ, and her take no crap from anyone, and cocky Adam met his match with her. Their back and forth banter made me laugh and smile, and boy did they have intense chemistry. I thought me kindle was going to start on fire. This is the first book I’ve read from this author, and I’m hooked. I will denifitely be reading more of her books.
Stella Rhys, ‘Reckless’.
As an HG ARC reader I received a free copy and promised an honest review. Here it is.
Rating: 4 (of 5 stars).
In general: From friends to lovers.
Main characters:
– Adrienne ‘AJ’ Tan (27).
She’s an assistant at Engelman Sports in Beverly Hills for five years. And since the start of her job she had a secret crush on her attractive boss Adam. And that creates a problem for since college she had a loving boyfriend, Caspar.
After some time she realized that her boss sometimes treated his clients charming but careless, and being his assistant, she had – to her annoyance – to clear his problems; a good way to overcome her crush.
– Adam Maxwell.
He had a mom who didn’t love him. In reaction he behaved badly and during his youth he often was a troublemaker. But liking sport and being talented saved him. He got scholarships and a good education. It paved the way for his job as an agent at Engelman Sports, where he met AJ.
AJ is one of the few women who isn’t constantly impressed by his charm and good looks. So at work they form a great team. Both are intelligent and always tell each other honestly what they think. They often travel together for business and gradually know a lot about their private lives. It results in entertaining, flashy dialogues and merciless, insightfull analyzes of their relationships with partners. But analyzing their own relationship – for me not quite understandable – seems far more dificult and it takes a long time before they both accept their falling in love. And trust in a permanent relationship.
Another ambiguity for me were the confidential confessions from Adam to AJ about his youth: his mom’s attitude to him after the birth of his sister and – later in the story – his first meeting with his mom. In the latest event he seems years older than during the first (??).
But all in all, for me the book was a pleasure to read: good plot, interesting background, wonderful characters. A page turner.

“I should’ve known that one day, Adam and I would be ruined forever.”
Whether or not they were ruined is something you’ll have to read Reckless to find out. However, I can say this book ruined ME forever.
*Dreamy sigh*
Reckless was everything I wanted. AJ and Adam are one of my all time favorite couples ever. They were perfect for each other.
Adam was the PERFECT hero, swoon-worthy, jealous, possessive, protective. You name it, Adam has that quality.
AJ wasn’t the type of heroine that rolled over and let whoever walk all over her. She stood up for herself. She didn’t take Adam’s crap and gave it just as good as she got it.
I HIGHLY recommend you read Reckless. Like… now. Seriously, you’ll regret waiting.
“I’m in the mood for you, AJ,” he said unapologetically, making me swallow hard. “I don’t even remember what it’s like to not be thinking about you every five minutes.”
I have been waiting for Adam and AJs story. I love all of the books in this series. And this one is no different. It was a different take on the troupe where as AJ was Adams assistant for 5 years. It wasn’t until she caught her fiance cheating and broke up with him that her and Adam started showing interest in each other. I loved the chemistry between them. And AJ’s inner dialogue was funny.
These two characters are the power duo for their company, Engelman Sports. Over the years they have become more than coworkers, they are best friends. One night, one weekend, one surprise changed everything. Can this dynamic duo find another level that they can exceed and concur together or will everything fall apart? This is Adam and AJ’s story which is an emotional journey to find happiness. I really loved reading this book and realized afterwards that it is part of a series. I felt that other than maybe a little more backstory would have been appreciated it was not necessary to enjoy this book. I look forward to going back to the beginning and moving forward with this series. Enjoy!
I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.
For five years, A.J. has worked as Adam’s assistant. At first A.J. did harbor a bit of a crush, but Adam being who he was, that crush crashed and burned and most days she could barely tolerate him. The two worked fabulous together, and never seeing the other in a different light. Until, that is, one moment pushes them over that line they never even toed. One moment changes everything. Now the two are trying to ignore the feelings that have suddenly appeared. Maybe they can just indulge one time, and then they will be over whatever this is, but is one time going to be enough? Can they keep their personal life separate from their professional one?
So I do suggest reading about the rest of the gang before reading this, just that way you get to see where everyone came in at and their stories and all that. I was super excited about this story and it did not disappoint! A.J. and Adam’s story sucked me in and I did not put my kindle down till it was done. Some really nicely done drama and some really hot naughty bits, I am really hoping this series isn’t done. I give this 5 stars.
Stella Rhys is becoming one of my favorite authors. I was excited when I heard Adam and AJ where getting a book, and it was everything I hoped for. Reckless is a steamy hot, yet sweetly romantic story with an alpha male, and a woman who isn’t afraid to stand up to him. It had humor, witty banter and a big dose of love-hate. One of my favorite reads of the year!
I love this series and I loved this book! Adam can be a real jerk but is a good guy underneath it all. AJ is smart and Adam’s best friend and right hand woman. Their story is funny, sexy and has so much angst!
Loved this book about hidden desires that burst to the surface!
You are immediately drawn to the dynamic duo of the sports contracting team of AJ and Adam who have worked together for 5 years and never crossed the line. Or that is until AJ’s surprise weekend for her fiancé and she literally runs in to Adam’s arms and the shift between the duo begins. When AJ discovers Adam’s Achilles heel, will their future implode? Lots of plot twists to keep you turning the pages with Adam’s family and AJ’s career. I read this book in one sitting, it was just that good!
Freakin’ fabulous story. One of my favourite reads of the year!
“One look at those lips and my blood went hot.”
AJ Tan has been Adam Maxwell’s right-hand woman for five years. He might look like God’s gift to women, but AJ got over her crush within weeks of working for him, and now they work perfectly in tandem together. However, one life-changing moment for AJ has them suddenly looking at each other in a completely non-professional way. One dramatic weekend has their dynamic changing and the sexual tension between them escalating, until the lines are so blurred that they soon find themselves redefining their relationship.
“I spend half my day trying to get you out of my head and the other half just letting you f*cking own every inch of my brain space.”
Gaaah! I just loved this story so much and I didn’t want it to end! It was funny, HOT AF and tugged at the heartstrings. I want to be AJ when I grow up! She’s smart, sassy and more than able to handle herself – and Adam. He has huge respect for her and recognises that he owes a lot of his success to her, even though she likes to give him a hard time. I loved the ever-shifting dynamic in their relationship, as they try to deny what’s between them but seem completely incapable of sticking to their previous script. The chemistry between them was off the charts. I found Adam’s dirty mouth thrilling and I absolutely loved that he wasn’t shy about the things he wanted to do to AJ!! *fans self* And, she gave as good as she got! LOL. I adored that beneath Adam’s cocky, hardass veneer beat the heart of a man who was vulnerable, loyal, protective and so caring. He carried some deep hurts and my heart melted as he shared so much of himself with AJ. I love this author’s writing style. I just knew this book was going to be fabulous and she thoroughly delivered!
