***4 ‘I Know I Cannot Live Without My Soul’ Stars***
I saw the title and that the was going to be a taboo romance and I made grabby hands instantly, because we all know how much I love me some taboo, and I really enjoyed this book. The inner turmoil that Tressa and Bastian were dealing with because of the attraction was my kind of crack and the connection they had outside of the physical kept me turning the pages until the very end.
I loved Tressa and Bastian. Both are very good people who have a healthy respect for ‘Faith’ just different ways of looking at it. Tressa has had it rough, but there remains this goodness in her that draws you in. Bastian has always had a calling and he’s gone after it with everything in him. He’s kind and compassionate and forward thinking in how he can help those around him.
Their journey is a rough one, which I knew it would be, but it was interesting to see how they dealt with this connection they had that went far beyond lust and the physical (but let me tell you, they were all kinds of smexy!). They knew each other. They understood each other on a level that I don’t even think they totally understood. The issues that sprang up were not surprising, but as I said at the start of this review, their inner turmoil absolute fascinated me and I really liked how everything worked out for them
This is my first read by the author and it was an absolute winner for me. I thought the writing was engaging, I liked how she told their story and the twists and turns were very well done. Yes, there is a lot of talk of faith, belief and honoring your vow that goes on, but I never felt as if I was being preached to, it felt like having a casual and open dialogue with someone over dinner. As for the supporting cast of characters, I loved Lucy and I hope to see her again, as well as Carmelita and her brood, because they definitely left a mark!

What do you do when who you believe you should be is challenged by meeting on person? Bastien became a priest due to family obligation and how he was raised. He knows this is his calling and who he should be. Tressa’s road in life hasn’t been easy. When she finds herself dumped on the doorsteps of St. Michael’s, she never dreams that this might be her salvation. Bastien gives Tressa a place to life and a job as the daycare worker for the church. As Bastian and Tressa work closely together to care for the parish’s children, a friendship and attraction blooms. Now, this journey isn’t what I expected. There are so many layers and nuances to this story as with everything that happens in life. As much as we want things to be black or white to simplify how we deal with the world, there are so many shades of gray. This story challenged me as it unfolded while showing me the true meaning of hope, love and trust. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
“Chaos and order, sin and virtue, every bit of us together made no sense at all— and perfect sense just the same.”~ Bastian
This is an epic love story. The rebel heart and the rebel saint, two souls destined for each other, but circumstances forced their separation. He a priest, she a member if his flock. The lines between right and wrong blurred. Will they ever get their chance? This is a read that will not only entertain you but will make you think.
Rebel Saint by Adriane Leigh is the story of Bastien Casteneda and Tressa Torrado.
Tressa has been hurt and let down by life, now at her lowest point in life. Tressa goes to St. Michael’s Catholic Church where she has gotten comfort but when she goes there to find a new Priest, Father Bastien. Bastien gives her sanctuary but it doesn’t take long before their growing feelings become more than they can ignore but can there be something between then in this taboo relationship?
Enjoyed their story.
What a poignant, intriguing, steamy forbidden love story! St. Michael‘s church has always been a place a refuge for Tressa Torrado, despite her mother’s wishes. Now Tressa is living and working there after a terrible event. She is trying to find her place in the world and her growing attraction to the kind and compassionate, Father Bastien Castaneda, isn’t making it easy to move on. Their lingering looks and gentle touches aren’t so innocent and their magnetic pull to each other becomes impossible to ignore. Father Bastien struggles with his passion for the church and for Tessa. Their love story is a journey filled with secrets, suspense, uncertainty, seduction, and love. They learn and gain strength from each other and those around them. This beautiful, thrilling and steamy story is thought provoking and seductive, and everything I didn’t know I wanted in a forbidden romance.
I quite enjoyed this forbidden love story, although there were times I was left confused because it wasn’t clear if what was happening were mere thoughts or was happening indeed.
That didn’t deter me from reading it and enjoy it.
I loved the characters and how they evolved.
Bastien, the priest, is undoubtedly a man of God. His vocation is ingrained in himself, making him the man he is. Tressa is a very smart and selfless woman, with a past haunting her daily but she’s determined to get her life ahead and be happy.
Together they taste the sin of lust…
Rebel Saint is a story of pure redemption and happiness mixed with some angsty twists, that ends beautifully.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading this story but I wasn’t disappointed. I really enjoyed the storyline with the twists and turns. It kept me interested. I thought it was well written and it was very enjoyable.
I can’t wait to read the next one.
This is a quick 4 star taboo read that kept me curious until the very end. A love story that is forbidden.
Bastien is a priest. Tressa finds herself on his church doorstep in despair. Let your imagination go wild from here on out.
This is a intriguing story that kept me reading until the end to see how they finish their journey. I admire author’s who can write forbidden, taboo stories. The author did a a great job with this storyline.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I recommend this story for those who love taboo stories.
