When Dr. Tobi Robinson returns to Whiskey River, Travis Sullivan is the only person to recognize that the smokin’ hot babe at the gala is actually his high school tomboy buddy. Time away has changed them both. Tobi, the prospective business major, became a doctor, while Travis, his pro baseball career ended by injury, converted his passion for flying into a charter flight business and flight … school.
The easy friendship they enjoyed in high school soon deepens into desire and then love. But Tobi didn’t turn to medicine by chance—a horrific accident has left her unable to tolerate even approaching an airplane. As strongly as Travis draws her, Tobi isn’t sure she can ever trust her heart to a pilot. Can Travis convince the woman he’s discovered he can’t live without that their love can conquer every trauma?

loved it
Very simple story line but enjoyable
Good story and would recommend it.
Terrific
Tobi moved back to Whiskey River for a slower pace. Working as a ER Dr in Dallas was getting to be touch much. Travis loves being partner’s with his friends in the airport and doing the expansion will be great for business. He has had a thing for her since high school. But she has to get over her phobia about planes.
The book was very sweet. I liked this book more that the previous of this series. Zack is really nice and understanding. Lauren is a bit annoying….really….I understand the problems of a single mom but she is too much, I think the plot should have been less drama on her part and more about both of them. Anyway the series is good and I left me wanting to read the third book.
These two people had a lot o f baggage. She has hangup from a plane crash, and he was supposed to have been a major league ball player. They couple early on but can not get past their pasts. There is a happy ending.
Love it
I really enjoyed this book so much. I haven’t read the series in order, but every time I read another book from the series, I am always so happy to see how the lives of the characters have progressed and what they are doing now. I really enjoyed this book and thought it was excellent, as are all of Eve Gaddy’s books. I highly recommend this book.
This was a very cute book and a fast read… I enjoyed it very much!!
good read
Amazing!!! I would definitely recommend!!!
,
I really enjoyed the story of the pilot and the physician, childhood friends-to-lovers. I love a good HEA!
This is a very interesting study in overcoming survivors guilt.
It was fine but I had to skip over the steamy parts.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I loved it enough to purchase a copy.
I am just going to say, WOW!! This is intense. I felt so bad for Tobi. Her fear of airplanes, after being the only survivor of a small plane crash. This crash killed her BFF. Travis, is a pilot of a small aircraft and a trainer as well. This is their story of coming together over this past tragedy.
The book is written with a dual POV. This really helped me, the reader, to identify with Tobi’s fear. Never having been through the experience, it was a MUST. It is hard to said if she was irrational as I don’t have a reference point to go with. Having a look into her thoughts and fears, this helped me as a reader to see where she was coming from. Why she did and/or didn’t do things or even say things that I felt were illogical. Ms. Gaddy did a wonderful job of writing this.
Travis, on the other hand, is a definite keeper!!! What a fabulous male protagonist. I just fell in love with him immediately. He was strong and alpha while being kind and caring.
I highly recommend this story to anyone. Yes, there are some sex scenes and strong language BUT it was more of an enhancing of the story not THE story!
This is the first I’ve read in this series and I really enjoyed it. Dr. Tobi Robinson lived through a horrible plane crash and is troubled by nightmares and a fear of flying. Then she returns home and runs into her high school buddy who is now a pilot and owner of a charter flying service. Seems that in spite of the chemistry sizzling between them there is no hope of ever finding a happy ever after. Who is going to have to make some serious changes in their life and can it make a difference?
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
The characters + storytelling were very captivating
Can friendship turn into something more ?
Tobi is back home for good.
She is the new doctor in town.
Travis is her childhood friend.
There were some attraction in the past, but their never acted on it.
Now, will they give a relationship a chance ?
Read the book and find out!
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
“Rebel Pilot, Texas Doctor” (Devil’s Rock at Whiskey River Book 1) by Eve Gaddy is a great read. I loved Travis and Tobi’s story. This story is a great start to this series, packed with romance, close friends, overcoming tragedy, new beginnings, and more. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series. This was the first time I’ve read this author’s work and it won’t be the last. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, entertaining characters, and series.
I loved reading the Rebel Pilot, Texas Doctor by Eve Gaddy, book one in her Devil’s Rock at Whiskey River series, a delightful friends to lovers story. Tobi and Travis returned to Whiskey River after having working elsewhere, Tobi at a hospital in Dallas and Travis flying planes in Austin after a career-ending baseball injury. These two needed to learn to let go of their pasts, hurts, fears, and mistrust, in order to open themselves up to being loved and able to love. Travis was such an understanding guy, knowing Tobi better than herself. Tobi struggled opening up herself to others and making new friends. Life was easy for her with Travis in it but she still had fears to conquer before understanding that life is short and one needs to spend their time alive wisely and with those you love.
This was a fun book to read and easy to visualize the story as it occurred. I totally loved these characters and didn’t want to put this book down. Ms. Gaddy did a fantastic job creating her characters, making them realistic, keeping the story interesting, making me forget the world around me and not letting me go until I turned the last page, wanting more. I highly recommend this book to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
