From New York Times Bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, comes the first book in a new, sexy duet. How to kick off a great summer in the Hamptons:Snag a gorgeous rental on the beach. Check.Get a job at a trendy summer haunt. Check. How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in … scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony looking crowd. A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season.
Check. Check. Check.
I should add–especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed God of a boss.
Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town.
Especially when he’s mean to you.
Or so I thought.
Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark.
That was sort of how it all started with Rush.
And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down.
I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me.
As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter. My summer became a lot more interesting–and complicated.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.
Rebel Heir is the first book in the Rush Series Duet. Book Two, Rebel Heart, will release six weeks later on May, 22, 2018.

This was a really good start to this duet. It was a slow burn, characters become friends first type read with some drama thrown in. From the start-ish I was able to predict some twists but to be honest it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the story. I really love Rush and Gia together. They have this chemistry that I haven’t seen in a book in a while. This author duo never fail to draw me in and keep me hooked. 4 stars #2OCCJD
Another fantastic read by this writing duo! Rush is a definite bad boy, sexy, brooding and swoon worthy! Gia is strong and takes no crap. Their chemistry and banter is off the charts and witty at times. Devoured this read and the cliffhanger, WOW! I highly recommend this book and I am warning you to have book 2 Rebel Heart ready to go.
Absolutely love this book! When these two ladies write together, it is always amazing! And in that fashion, Rush and Gia are just perfect! They really make me smile. Rush is so sexy, in that bad boy knock your brain cells loose kind of way. He will make your heart pound and there will be swooning and of course you will fall in love with him! Gia is adorable and so sweet and I just love her too. They are both so real and likable. As we get to know the Rush not to many see but he lets Gia see, there is no stopping the fall. He is so easy to love! Their story is so amazing, but not a smooth one at all. Once they get past the reasons they shouldn’t be together, it is so obvious that they should be. But can they get through the forces threatening to tear them apart?
All I can say is I am so happy I have Book 2 to start right away.
So I finally got around to reading Rebel Heir and once again the dynamic duo has written another excellent five star book!!!! Everything and I mean everything about this book is amazing and perfect. The plot is original, concise, well written, entertaining and very engaging.
Rush and Gia’s connection was immediate, their romantic chemistry was sizzling and their comedic banter was spot on. I fell in love with them immediately. Rush owns my heart and Gia is such a sweet and relatable woman. Their story included a good amount of angst that had me biting my nails. I can’t wait to read Rebel Heart!
I liked that it had a little bit of everything. Fun read.
One thing is for certain is that I love when Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland team up to write a book. These two are my favorite duo author pair and I absolutely couldn’t wait to get my hands on Rebel Heir. If you’ve read their previous books, you know that there will ALWAYS be some sort of emotional twist and THIS was not what I expected at all. It completely threw me off. I think 2018 is the year of duets for authors and I’m quickly becoming to loathe them because of the fact that we have to wait for the conclusion. I’ve read 4 duets this year so far and I’m still waiting for the conclusion for 3 of them.
I love the fact that when I began this book, I quickly became caught up in their story. Vi and Penelope write seamlessly into every page, every word has you hooked. Their books they have written together are all binge-worthy. It’s hard to put them down. I read Rebel Heir in a matter of hours, but it’s always like that with their books.
Rush and Gia, an unlikely pair that couldn’t be more perfectly matched. After Gia pulls a solid for a friend and covers her shift at a local bar/restaurant, which turns out to be a horrible idea since she makes a horrible bartender, she was persistent and kept going. Until she helps someone who she thought was a customer, but it turns out to be the boss man.
After that embarrassing yet honest introduction, she manages to get a job out of it, which is a perfect time filler since she needs her days to write her romance book. Even though he caught Gia redhanded doing someone else’s job, horribly might I add, it made a lasting impression on Rush. No matter how many times he tells him, he can’t seem to stay away from her.
Gia is all sass with a bit of sweet on the side, makes it so easy to love her! Rush comes off as the ultimate bad boy, but there’s so much more to him. And only a select few truly know his character and it’s such a likable one.
Their banter is absolutely hilarious and Rush’s talk is so damn filthy, it’ll just melt your panties off!
I love as you read this, you’re just so caught up in their story and completely forget about the little twist they always throw in their books. It blindsided me so bad that my emotions couldn’t handle it. I literally started to cry, it was embarrassing!
I’ll be honest and say I’m a bit worried about the conclusion book because it’s not going to be all sunshine and rainbows. And let’s just say it took Rush a hell of a long time to finally admit to some things when it pertained to Gia. I don’t blame him, everyone has a past and relationships can be downright scary. I’m curious to see how they’ll get through this.
There it is, I love this book and am so damn impatient for the conclusion of Gia and Rush’s story especially with that LITTLE cliffhanger ending. Such a mix of emotions and I’m still reeling from it.
If you’re a Vi and Penelope fan, you won’t be disappointed!
An outstanding read full of chemistry, angst, a few twists and alot of lovin’!
Rush is a broody jerk with a heart of gold. I freakin’ fell hard for this alpha, protective, sexy, king of dirty talk! He likes no strings. His circle of people he loves and trusts is small.
Gia was amazing and I have a girl crush on her. Not intimidated by Rush’s broody nature, she gives it right back to him. She’s beautiful, smart, witty and independent.
These two have an attraction like no other. What starts out as an unlikely friendship quickly ventures into more than friends territory. Their mutual attraction is so charged I’m surprised they don’t spontaneously combust. The banter was HOT and the dirty talk was just WOW!!!
An unlikely match that just works. These two find more parallels between themselves than they do differences. Rush’s sweet, thoughtful side is endearing and we find that there is so much more to him. He’s got his own skeletons and he’s just not sure he’s enough for Gia. She’s not a one-night only kind of girl.
This is only the beginning of their story. Nothing worth having is ever easy…but these two will be faced with obstacles that may just be too much to overcome. I am moving on to Rebel Heart because I need to know how Rush and Gia’s story ends.
This was a fantastic read. These two authors are a match made in heaven. I have been a fan for years and always look forward to anything they write.
I loved Rush and Gia in Rebel Heir.
Gia is renting a house in the Hamptons, so that she can focus on and finish the book that she is trying to write. She has a serious case of writers block going on and still hasn’t written much, but she knows that she needs a job to help cover everything. She ends up with a job at The Heights and that is where we meet Rush – the tattooed, bad boy, closed off owner.
I liked how Gia wasn’t afraid to stand up to Rush and I loved the banter between them. I loved the part where Gia first meets Rush’s mom. That was hilarious.
I felt bad for what Rush and Gia were having to deal with and I had an suspension about Gia’s mystery man. Oh my, I can’t wait to start Rebel Heart to see how they deal with the mystery man.
There are so many layers to Rush. Rebel bad boy. Business man. Adoring son. Protective. Sexy (and sexual!). Romantic. Caring. Tender. Passionate. And he’s completely bowled over by Gia. To the point that his M.O. is no longer his safe place. He’s completely lost…in her.
She’s writing a book. She’s romantic and sweet and mouthy. She roles him up like it’s her favorite past time. She works for him. But she’s fascinated by him.
As they start t figure out that they are so much better as more than friends, an unexpected discovery could derail things. But he’s still Rush. And they are both in pain and confused and lost.
And then…could it get any worse?! Yes! I felt it coming and my heart was pounding and I wanted to punch someone! Now it’s time for Rebel Heart!
First of all, if you’re going to buy this book, buy “Rebel Heart”, also, or you’ll wish you had. These two women write seamlessly, to create fascinating stories. I’d thought “Rebel Heir” would be a fun romantic, sexy read, but it was so much more. I was surprised by the emotional impact, and connection with the characters. I almost felt I was living the story of this tangled web. I’ll be looking for more books by Vi and Penelope. WOW!
I swear, every time I read one of this duo’s works, I fall hard for them. I think this might be my favorite of theirs so far! Definitely a new favorite for the year as well.
They, Penelope and Vi, are a force to be reckoned with when they write together… The stories they create are so amazing. I couldn’t put this book down! I would have finished it in one sitting, if other priorities didn’t take over while reading! This is one of those kinds of books…
And, if you are waiting for book 2 to release, save yourself the stress and anxiety over waiting… I am dying here. This is gonna suck waiting; why did I do this to myself?
I’ve been getting good at catching onto things before they happen, and I caught onto the 2 things in this one… Yes, I am patting myself on the back for that. A lot of time I’m blindsided and don’t pay attention to the little details… But not this time!
This book was so good… If you are not familiar with one of their co-written books, or with their individual work, you need to change that ASAP! They are for sure one of my favorite duo authors! Plus, I love a lot of their individual work, so, win-win! Definitely recommend!!!!
I am ruined! Ruined! Ruined! Ruined! Gah! I am a mess! *Deep breath* Let me pull myself together. I’m going to cry. Big, fat, UGLY tears! Seriously, THIS book! Ugh, okay, I can do this. But, before I even get into my review, I just want to bring attention to the cover. This cover could not be more PERFECT! The cover model is Rush in EVERY way! From that sexy scowl to that damn cigarette hanging from his mouth… he IS Rush!
Alright, now that I have gotten that out of the way, I don’t even know where to start aside from saying, I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS BOOK! Yes, it deserves all caps and an exclamation mark at the end, lol. I know… I sound crazy. Truthfully, I feel kind of unstable right now as I write this, so bare with me. My emotions are all over the place. I am on emotion overload! On one hand, I am so excited about this read, and I want to tell you all about it, but I can’t. On the other hand, I just want to curl up in my bed and cry. Oh man, Rush and Gia’s story is going to run you through the wringer!
When I first met Rush, it was love at first… sight? First read? I don’t know, but all I can say is that I just fell immediately in love with his arrogant, hard, bad boy personality. He is guarded and complicated, yet sweet and vulnerable. I loved how intense and witty he was. And Gia… sweet, free spirited Gia. Oh how I wished I was her! She is the girl we all aspire to be. Fun, confident, alluring… the kind of girl that just lights up a room with her smile.
The best part? The angst! Holy hell, the angst! I love a good angsty read and this story was full of it. These two drove each other crazy. They drove me crazy! The things that came out of Rush’s mouth even made me hot with anticipation! I would have done anything he asked of me! Get on your knees? Yes, sir! Haha! On a serious note, this story, these characters, had me laughing out loud with their banter, swooning and sighing, and in the end, sobbing. That first unexpected twist sucker punched me, but that second one, it took me out at the knees. It was such a Kindle throwing moment. I screamed, NOOOOOO!!!!!!! My heart is in my throat and my stomach is in knots. I’m mad. I’m frustrated. More than anything, I’m heart broken. My eyes are swollen and my head is going to hurt tomorrow. I have one serious book hangover on the horizon.
If you take anything from this emotionally driven, slightly off the hook review, it’s that you MUST, MUST, MUST read Rebel Heir. Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward have outdone themselves once again. This dynamic duo continues to dominate and rock this genre. They are freaking AMAZING!
P.S. Meet Rush today, I promise he will ruin you in the most delicious way!
Review by Lys
If you like new adult romance, I’d recommend this one. Beware it’s the first of a duet.
Review Once again the dynamic writing duo of Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward has given us another brilliant read and yet another book boyfriend to fall for, this one is a bit darker than we are used to but as always he is hot as hell. I love every character these authors give us but I have to say Rush and Gia are up there amongst my favourites, their chemistry is sizzling and the connection they share is perfect, the banter is everything I would expect from these guys and at times I was laughing or should I say snorting out loud, this book drew me in and at the end it spat me out, it left me needing book 2 so badly but the good news is we won’t be waiting long. A really great story that deserves every five star review it’s getting….. (less)

THIS WAS SUCH A GREAT READ. I loved the characters, the relationship non relationship between them. This book held my interest and , the humor was icing on the cake. I HAATTTTEEE cliff hangers, didn’t see this one coming! But, yes I am looking forward to the next book.
Can’t wait for the sequel.
Holy cliffhanger!!! Prepare yourself for an angsty and HOT read people. I loved this book. Ward and Keeland can basically write anything and it will be amazing.
Gia is an aspiring writer. She just secured an advance on the romance book she’s writing. So to finish her book Gia rents a beach house at the Hamptons so she can get to work. At the beginning of Rebel Heir Gia gets a call from her friend begging her to cover her bartending shift due to a family emergency. Gia knows nothing about being a bartender but her friend needs her so off she goes. How hard could it be? Well…..Gia basically sucks at it.
Enter Rush. He walks into his bar and sees a stunningly beautiful woman behind the bar. A stunningly beautiful woman that he does not know. From the first conversation with Gia, Rush knows he’s in trouble. Gia has a smart mouth and he is NOT used to people speaking to him like she does. Only problem……once Ruch decides to hire Gia she’s off limits. He has a strict rule. Don’t get involved with employees.
What is Rush going to do with this amazing beautiful woman he can’t touch? The physical attraction between Gia and Rush is undeniable. Let’s face it….rules are meant to be broken…..right?

The highs, the lows and everything in between….relationships aren’t usually that much of a rollercoaster, but when you have Gia and Rush…..strap yourself in for one crazy ride!!!!
I have always been intrigued with how two authors can come together as one and produce a story that in all honesty you wouldn’t know was written by two individual persons. Ms. Ward and Ms. Keeland continue to be amazing writers; put them together….you’ve got a powerhouse of a writing team.

Its 4am and I’m staring at my kindle after reading and trying to figure out how I can write a review to do this book justice. I started this book around 11pm and I had to keep reading until it was over. I HAD to know what was going to happen and who needs sleep??
Gia fills in for her friend one day at work and she meets Rush not realizing he’s the boss. Their first encounter was one for the ages. They had an immediate attraction and I loved their banter right off the bat! Rush has such an intimidating presence and such a mouth on him but there was also another side. A kinder and gentler side and I loved seeing the softer side of Rush. Gia comes off as nice and sweet but she was no nonsense and gave it straight to Rush from day one.
‘You’ve had my love since day one. You’ve had me since day one. I was just too chicken to admit it.”
*Sighs* I love when the closed off bad boy realizes he’s in love.
As the story progresses I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and when it did I was gutted. Then once my heart slowly started to heal, boom! Talk about plot twist. I don’t know how Ward and Keeland are going to outdo themselves for the next book but I am counting down the days until I can read Rebel Heart. Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland knocked it out of the park with this book! I normally don’t read a lot of author duet books but I have to say Ward and Keeland are the best hands down when it comes to co written books. The story flowed, it had me smiling, laughing out loud, clutching my heart and tearing up. May can’t get here quick enough!
This is yet another fantastic read by these two awesome authors. I will read any and everything that they collaborate on. I haven’t been disappointed.
I will say that I can’t wait to get part two of this duet. Especially after that ending. I did have a feeling that this is what would happen, but I was still shocked by it. Luckily we don’t have to wait long to find out how this is all going to work out. I NEED to know now though!
I absolutely love Rush and Gia! They are great. I love how Gia stood up to Rush right off the back. She wasn’t intimated by him and didn’t take his crap. She faced him and went toe to toe with him.
Rush is all hard and has rough edges, but once you peel back that later, you have an amazing and protective man. He loves hard, fiercely protective and so very loyal.
I loved reading this!
Let me start by saying that I would gladly take the time to get beneath this complicated and dark hearted man in order to show him that he’s capable of more than he believes because there’s clearly so much more to Heathcliff ‘Rush’ Rushmore than he allows anyone to see. Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward force the heroine as well as readers to work for every single insight Rush gives Gia and us about his past and the reasons he views relationships the way that he does, and it’s that effort that allows Rush’s shields to go down to such an extent that Gia and readers can’t help but fall for him despite his hot/cold demeanor and regardless of his ‘no dating employee policy.’
Gia Mirabelli is definitely my kind of heroine, and I think Rush was spot on when he called her ‘real.’ There’s nothing superficial about Gia, which is why Rush can’t seem to stop thinking about her, despite his fears and their employer/employee status. I love that Gia’s a writer and that Rush nicknamed her ‘Shakespeare.’ The fact that Gia struggles with her current work-in-progress and she vocalizes her frustrations with her book as well as what’s happening or not happening between her and Rush also illustrates why readers can so easily connect with her; Gia’s honesty and openness makes readers want her to get everything she desires in life and makes us hope that Rush will see just how good they could be together regardless of their pasts and fears.
The way that Keeland and Ward set-up the story line and allow readers to understand both Rush and Gia’s perspectives makes Rebel Heir a fantastic read, but while I can say I absolutely enjoyed myself from the start of the book until the end of the book, the predictability of the plot twist and the fact that I had guessed what it would be, early on, left me a bit disappointed, which definitely bummed me out and while it didn’t ruin the story for me, it bothered me because I’m not used to either author being that formulaic with a plot line.
But regardless of my issue with that particular aspect of the story, the book as a whole really worked for me. I love how complex Rush is and that Gia is her own person but knows that she can rely on Rush. Rush’s mom provides fantastic insight into the man Rush is and the fact that she can relate to Gia’s situation as well makes her essential to both of them.
Book one’s ending clearly indicates that Rush and Gia’s uphill battle to be together has only just begun, so I anxiously await book two’s angsty plot line.
