From New York Times Bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, comes the first book in a new, sexy duet. How to kick off a great summer in the Hamptons:Snag a gorgeous rental on the beach. Check.Get a job at a trendy summer haunt. Check. How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in … scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony looking crowd. A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season.
Check. Check. Check.
I should add–especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed God of a boss.
Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town.
Especially when he’s mean to you.
Or so I thought.
Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark.
That was sort of how it all started with Rush.
And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down.
I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me.
As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter. My summer became a lot more interesting–and complicated.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.
Rebel Heir is the first book in the Rush Series Duet. Book Two, Rebel Heart, will release six weeks later on May, 22, 2018.

This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
Good read
So I really liked this one. I thought the experiences and the characters came to life in real ways. I liked that everything was not perfect and showed that for one special person, someone can be different in behavior, thought and action.
I do not necessarily like that Rush considered Lauren a friend but let her live a lie. Regardless of the fact that she wanted a certain life and chose not to see some things, she could have been physically harmed. Maybe that is a part of Rush’s character, but I think I am a bit shocked that Gia did not blurt out something to her in one of her outbursts. Now, although I believe she should have been told, I can see how this needed to be kept quiet for book 2.
I enjoyed the book a lot. I just hate it when I don’t realize there is a second book.
I didn’t see either of these twists coming!!! I wish it was released as a set because I couldn’t wait for the sequel.
Wow! What a story and what an ending!
I can’t wait for part 2. I definitely recommend this book, this series, and these authors.
The narrators were fantastic.
Read both books and loved them. Great characters in a powerful story.
This is Book 1 in The Rush Series.
This is the part 1 of the story of Rush & Gia. Rush is very rich and owns quite a few businesses that he inherited from his grandfather. He appears to be a bad boy, but underneath he really isn’t. Gia is an author who comes to the bar Rush owns to cover for her friend who has a family emergency. She does not know how to bartend. This is where Rush & Gia meet. They go through denials, jealousy, immense attraction and doubt. There is a lot of funny banter between them. It’s a laugh out loud banter I thoroughly enjoyed. It was refreshing, to say the least. That doesn’t take the emotions out of this story between the two of them. It’s a great story line. The cliffhanger at the end is great. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Kudos Vi and Penelope for a most enjoyable read.
2 stars. I couldn’t finish this book. The characters were too immature for my tastes. I usually enjoy these authors and once I realized this was a 2 book series I decided enough was enough about 45% through.
I read both books. I loved them.
A little predictable but overall a solid read! Really love the characters!
If you re down for a steamy romance, then this is the perfect book for you. Also, it has a lot of twists to the traditional bad boy story, so it keeps you stuck until the very last page because of the characters and of the story line. It makes you reflect about how life is and how we can only survive if we adapt to new circunstances.
CLIFFHANGER. I HAD TO READ BOOK TWO.
So good. Read the series!!!
This is Part 1 of 2. I did not have the emotional stamina at the time to finish part 2. Loved #1 and could tell #2 would be very….angsty. Great story – give it a read. Just be prepared!
I have enjoyed some of their work but this one is not for me at all. A bit immature, not a real deep connection between the H & h. I will not be reading more of the story. I just barely made it to the cliffhanger.
He’s dirty talking, irrascible, tattooed, quick tempered and rough around the edges. Oh and did I mention seriously hot? That’s Rush. Gia gets the full treatment the first time they meet when he tries to fire her. Then he hires her almost in the same breath. She’s got his number almost from the get go and quickly learns to successfully push all his buttons. He adamently tries to keep her at arm’s length as she slowly works her way under his skin and into his heart. Not that he’s admit it. Gia sees beneath that tough bad boy exterior and they finally decide to really give in to feelings she makes a discovery that will most likely bring it all to a screeching halt.
I got this book free via Amazon and am leaving my review voluntarily.
This book is not a standalone. It was a bit slow at the start, however it picked up quickly. I usually don’t like having to go to a second (or worse 3rd) book to find out the conclusion to a story, but the authors did a good job making you actually want to care, want to know how things turn out.
Triggers: not really (there was talk of cheating)
*spoilers*
Gia, in town for the summer to write a novel.
Rush, local “bad boy” who has money.
Gia gets a job at a bar/restaurant in town that Rush owns. From the start these two have chemistry.
They start as not friends to friends to maybe feeling more. It took me awhile to warm up to Gia though. Eventually I was all in for these two to work out.
Stuff happens.
HEA sort of. Story continues in book 2.
I saved this Keeland/Ward duet for last thinking it was going to be just a light beach read, but boy was I wrong. True to form, this story was full of page-turning plot twists and turns. I cried and ached for Rush and Gia’s situation but loved the well-developed storyline and well-deserved HEA. Don’t make the same mistake I made. Read this story NOW!
RUSH….(sigh)
This is such a good book…We have come to expect books exactly like this from Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward…..It is book 1 of a duet….and it ends on a BIG cliffhanger…one, I never saw coming…hadn’t even considered it…still can’t believe it..REBEL HEIR is a good book…..REALLY good…
Rush and Gia have an immediate connection…He’s a jerk to everyone else..plus she’s his employee…..so he’s not going there….until he does…These two have so much chemistry, my kindle nearly combusted…..Rush is that all alpha male who just melts for Gia…..and Rush WILL be your next book boyfriend…
