From New York Times Bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, comes the first book in a new, sexy duet. How to kick off a great summer in the Hamptons:Snag a gorgeous rental on the beach. Check.Get a job at a trendy summer haunt. Check. How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in … scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony looking crowd. A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season.
Check. Check. Check.
I should add–especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed God of a boss.
Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town.
Especially when he’s mean to you.
Or so I thought.
Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark.
That was sort of how it all started with Rush.
And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down.
I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me.
As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter. My summer became a lot more interesting–and complicated.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.
Rebel Heir is the first book in the Rush Series Duet. Book Two, Rebel Heart, will release six weeks later on May, 22, 2018.

I LOVE books by Vi and Penolope and this is one of my faves!! Couldn’t get enough of super-hot Rush and Gia! Can’t wait to read the conclusion Rebel Heart in a couple of weeks! Highly recommend!
Can Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward please send Rush over ASAP? I will worry about the legalities of divorcing my husband after I have my hands on him!
Sigh…Dreamy swoony sigh…
Rush is…perfect. Beneath that brash, bad boy facade is a man most will swoon over. Others will hunt for. I will definitely dream about.
He’s perfect. Okay, well mostly perfect. His one flaw I can see is the damn cigarettes. Since I’m allergic we will need to work on that but otherwise…perfection!
Gia needs to start writing all this down if she wants to submit on time. Can I also mention, I love her choice in audiobooks.
I knew when I started this was a duet. But the reality of why didnt hit me until 3 minutes before it hit Gia. Enjoy gliding along in your happy obliviousness. I sure did. However, shit just got real! I cant wait to see how this all works out!
I listened to the audiobook and loved it. I couldn’t wait to listen to the next one, Rebel Heart, it was even better! A must read or listen! Rebel Heart
I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!
Darn it if I didn’t love this book. In classic Vi Keeland/Penelope Ward style, it draws you in and keeps you turning those pages, eager and anxious to know what happens next.
Rush is this uber sexy, James Dean style bad boy, and you know you’re relating this guy to that one guy in your early twenties who ripped your heart out and stomped it into a million pieces. Now you get to relive that story, only you’re the girl you wished you had been at the time – the one he wanted to change for.
Oh yes, Gia is very relatable, down to earth and telling it like it is.
And I cant’ help but wonder if Gia’s thoughts about writing might give us a tiny glimpse into the world that is Keeland and Ward???
At any rate, yes, there is a cliffhanger ending on this yummy book, but don’t worry – Book 2 (Rebel Heart) is ready and waiting to be devoured the moment you read the last word of this five-star story.
OMG!! Looking forward to reading book 2.
Another amazing story by this dynamic duo writing team!
Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward have outdone themselves with their new Rush Series !! Rebel Heir has literally obliterated my sanity and left me in a pile of wants and needs! I have no idea how I’m going to wait until Rebel Heart is released but I am so looking forward to it!!! Now if only my heart could calm down…..
I adored the character building in this story, each of the main protagonists had their own voices and nuances and I enjoyed the introspection as each of them airs the dilemmas they faced. The storyline flowed effortlessly and it kept me turning the pages. This book is the first in a series and ends on a cliffhanger which I suspect will be the starting point of the next in series Rebel Heart. An excellent writing partnership. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.
I’m sitting here, trying to figure out what to say about Rebel Heir, but it all boils down to “I love this book!!” I have read many books that Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward have co-written, as well as many that they have written individually, but this duet is- by far- my favorite!
I absolutely loved Rush! Holy hotness! He stole my heart from the first page. And Gia was so incredibly good for him!
I highly recommend Rebel Heir!
HOLY COW!!!! This book was sooooo good!!! If I could give it more stars I would.
This is my all time favorite book by these two authors. Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward outdid themselves with this book. I was sucked in right from the start. I loved the storyline and characters. Rush and Gia have to be my favorite couple from these two.
This book had my emotions all over the place. I was laughing, crying, smiling, blushing and swooning, but most of all I fell in LOVE with everything in this book.
I will warn you though, this is NOT a standalone novel. There is a cliffhanger and if you don’t like reading books with cliffhangers then you should wait until both books are released. I normally don’t like reading books with cliffhangers, but I wasn’t waiting to read anything from Vi and Penelope. I am so glad I didn’t wait and was able to read an advanced review copy.
This is simply amazing. I could sit here and gush and gush about this book, but I don’t want to slip and spoil anything for any readers. Just know I devoured this book!!! It is unputdownable!!! This book is everything I have come to expect from Vi and Penelope but it was so much more. I can’t really explain it, you’ll just have to trust me and read this book.
In this book we follow Gia and Rush’s story. Gia is in the Hamptons for the summer trying to write a book. When her friend and roommate asks her to cover her shift at a popular bar in town, Gia reluctantly says yes….little did she know that was going to change her life. Rush is a loner type who doesn’t do commitment. So when Gia starts getting under his skin and weakens his defenses….it takes him by surprise. I loved the connection these two characters have. It was witty, funny and sexy all at once. But things never go smoothly for either of them and things just continue to get complicated as time goes on.
I would 100% recommend this book!!! If you haven’t read a book by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, I only ask you this….What are you waiting for??? This is one for my Best of 2018 List. I know I will be reading this book again and again.
Note: not a stand-alone
Both books are great.
I was not prepared for the twists and turns of this book. Dang! I’m sitting here thinking, I thought I saw the book going this way and it went that way. A good ending, that leaves you on the hook for the next one in the duet!
The Rebel Heir himself is a rough and tumble guy that has made the most out of the hand he was dealt. He’s humble, but only shows that side to certain people. I loved seeing this bad boy open up to Gia.
Oh sweet Gia. I loved that she didn’t let Rush get his way every time. Just with who he is, she didn’t shy away or back down – when most would cower. But she had the ability to push his buttons but bring out the best of him. He’s such a sweetheart deep down and I think they’re perfect together.
Now digging into the second of the duet because lord knows I have to find out how this all goes down!
So now I understand everyone’s frustrations who has read this series. Vi and Penelope couldn’t have written any better than they have written. I loved how intense Rush and Gia were for each other. Vi and Penelope are slowly becoming my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read book 2, which I am sure will be just perfect like this one. Most definitely worth reading and listening it.
I listened to the audio version of this book. The narrations by Sebastian York and Maxine Mitchel. The dual point of view made it necessary for each to have a voice for the character of the opposite sex and both were outstanding.
Not sure what to say about this book. Rush is a fairly dark character and a fairly raunchy character. Gia is pretty much the opposite. Them coming together was a bit of a stretch for me and some of the abrupt changes in Rush’s actions didn’t seem likely.
Being Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, there was some pretty explicit talk and actions. That didn’t bother me. What did was the cliffhanger at the end. Very abrupt ending and the story is carried on in the next book, Rebel Heart.
Quick easy read. Light with great characters.
‘Life is ten percent of what happens to you and ninety percent what you make of it.’
Another amazingly angsty, heartwarming and romantic story by this duo. Very easy to read, you’ll find yourself turning page after page. The characters have flaws, but it seems they are better for it. I loved the familial relationships the leading characters had, with such wonderful parental figures. Unfortunately I did see the twist coming, it was just a matter of when the bomb would be dropped. I really need to read a Rebel Heart to see where the story takes us.
Gia is standing in for her friend, working the bar is hilarious and disastrous. The boss is not so impressed though. He may be loaded, but losing customers and money isn’t good for business. Gia is fierce and sassy, she stands up to him and he finds it a redeeming quality. Trading insults and banter is foreplay, but Rush has a steadfast rule, no sh*tting where you eat. Each time he sees Gia makes abiding by it impossible. However Gia is tentative where men are concerned, because she’s been burned.
Rush is a b@st@rd, he’s estranged from his father and half brother. Conformity doesn’t come naturally and he likes rebelling because it grates on them. Gia is a little spitfire, she has curves in all the right spaces, he wants her, but resists her. Rush goes above and beyond the realms of boss and employee, because he can’t stay away. His usual MO is to have casual hookups, with no emotional attachments. His head and heart seem to be on different pages though.
Love this series so much! Just the right amount of smut, mixed with a really deep/tragic/complicated story with well-developed (but horrible people!!) characters. LOVE IT!
Cliffhanger. I didn’t realize when I started reading, but it was free. The story was actually not bad. I liked the chemistry between the characters and they were both developed a little. No insta love, maybe insta attraction. Pretty good overall, but I didn’t buy the next book.
When Gia gets an advance to write a book, she decides to go to the Hamptons for the summer. One night she agrees to cover a bartending shift for her roommate, despite never having worked behind a bar in her life, and she is terrible at it. When she meets the owner of the bar he is grouchy and rude an immediately fires her, only to rehire her as a hostess, which she is amazing at. There is something about Gia that gets under Rush’s skin and despite vowing never to date an employee, there is nothing he can do to forget about her. Just as their relationship is about to move forward, Gia discovers that she is pregnant as result of a one night stand, that gave a fake name (Harlan) and phone number, before she met Rush. As Rush comes to terms with this development, he realizes that his love for Gia can overcome the fact that she is carrying another man’s child and he will love this baby as his own. Rush has a very complicated relationship with his own family. His father was a married man, who abandoned his mom when she found out she was pregnant and so was never in his life. When Rush was a teenager, his mom took him to meet his grandfather, who turned out to be an incredibly wealthy businessman. Realizing how badly Rush had been let down by his father, the grandfather left Rush a stake in the family business and some other investments. Obviously this let to tensions with his half brother and father, but Rush kept out of their way and only saw them for specific events. One of these was Rush’s brother’s birthday and when Rush and Gia walked into the party, there was Harlan, the one night stand and father of Gia’s baby.
