Check. How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in … scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony looking crowd. A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season.
Check. Check. Check.
I should add–especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed God of a boss.
Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town.
Especially when he’s mean to you.
Or so I thought.
Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark.
That was sort of how it all started with Rush.
And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down.
I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me.
As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter. My summer became a lot more interesting–and complicated.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.
Rebel Heir is the first book in the Rush Series Duet. Book Two, Rebel Heart, will release six weeks later on May, 22, 2018.

I’ve got a RUSH for Rush!
Man oh man did I fall for him as soon as he was introduced in this book.
He is a mystery for sure which while reading I was excited and giddy on finding out what makes him Rush.
Gia is a woman I was able to relate to of trying to produce a book that hasn’t be able to form because real life is not giving any inspiration, until she meets Rush.
I enjoyed the build up of these two characters getting to know one another, their sassy jabs back and forth with each other, their instant attraction that is held back because of the boss/employee relationship.
Also enjoyed that we get a good background of these characters family and friends.
Get ready to laugh, gush, fall in love, a good dose of angst & chemistry that will sizzle you into a hot mess.
I can’t wait to find out if Gia & Rush can make a relationship work between them or if finding out the truth about one another will break them apart.

5 Cherries Popped
I love anything written by these 2 ladies, and Rush is definitely one of their yummiest heroes yet! One part tattooed, cigarette smoking, straight talking bad boy and one part big hearted, loyal to the core romantic = one swoonworthy complete package! He does have a slight tendency toward being a crude ass when his temper flares but he is not malicious or abusive.
His staff walks on eggshells in fear of that side of him when they first meet, but Gia shows no fear and actually throws him a healthy dose of her own attitude. That’s like waving a red flag in front of a bull but in a good way and it doesn’t take long until they are enjoying each other’s company. Rush has a rule about dating employees but he is seriously tempted to throw it out the window for Gia – and that scares the heck out of him. He has lived his life commitment-free mostly out of fear of turning out like his sperm donor, so he is completely at a loss when it comes to a real relationship. When he decides to throw caution to the wind, there are some moments where you will need a fan or ice – or both!
I really loved Rush and Gia’s characters! Unfortunately I didn’t love the fact that I could guess exactly what the conflict would be that would pop up in the second half of the book as well as the source of that conflict. Add in that it is a plot twist that grates on my nerves regardless of the author and it took away from my enjoyment of the rest of the story. But that is just one of my quirks, so don’t let it unduly influence your decision on reading this story!
If you love a tattooed bad boy with a huge heart (yeah, we’ll go with just “heart” 😉 ) and a sassy independent heroine who have undeniable chemistry, then you need to grab Rebel Heir! The final piece of their story is only a few weeks away so we don’t have long to wait to see how it all plays out.
This book was addictive from the start. I literally couldn’t go to bed until I finished it. The characters were phenomenal, the story had me hooked by 4% into it. Rush and Gia’s story was funny, sweet, and sprinkled with sexual tension that they just covered up with flirtatious banter. They shared such an incredible connection from their first meeting.
Rush was so freaking sexy. Not just in the description we’re given in the book, but his character. He truly lived up to the title of the book. A man of wealth, he’s down to earth with a heart of gold and Gia coming into his life opened him up in ways he never wanted and definitely didn’t expect.
For Gia, Rush was HOT and sexy with his bad boy image and tattooed and even wit all the flirting between them she gets to see the side of Rush that no on else gets to see. Her quirky, funny personality breaks through his walls so easily and gives him no choice to be open himself up to the friendship she offers. With him in her life, she went from writing romance based on her imagination to finding inspiration from real life.
These two were totally adorbs and sexy together. I laughed and swooned and with the the kicker left at the end? I’m left on the edge of my seat.
This writing duo is truly AMAZING. I have yet to open one of their stories and not fallen in love with every aspect of it. I think THIS ONE has been moved into the slot as my favorite. I can’t wait for the conclusion to their story.
I love, love, love Rebel Heir! I hate/love, hate/love, hate/love the fricking cliffhanger! I want, want, want Rebel Heart! This book was very, very good. I love Gia Mirabelli and “Rush” he doesn’t tell people his full name. You need to read this book to find out what it is.
Gia is the right amount of being smart, sassy, funny & sexy. Rush is the right amount of smart, sassy, funny & sexy too!
There is a HUGE twist at the end of this book. I love it. But, I hate it at the same time. I need to know what happens next!
It’s another great book by this duo of authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. You write seamlessly together.
I love these authors and Rebel Heir. Now bring on Rebel Heart coming in May. So, the wait won’t be too long! I give this book 5 ++++ stars!!! Loved it!!!
I have read every single thing that these writers have written, either separate or together. So I was kind of thinking what can they possibly write that will make me loose my mind. Let me tell tell you that Rebel Heir is the book to read in 2018. This 10 star story will blow your mind.
Why do I think this is a 10 star story you might say? For starters Rush is rude, a prick, an as&%^le with a filthy dirty mind, he smokes, he has no filter. Wow nice you might think. Oh!! I forgot to say he’s rich. But yet he’s the most loyal, loving selfless character to date. Gia doesn’t take crap from him. She gives it to him.
“Je veux un Rush dans ma vie”
Don’t tell my boss, but I downloaded it as soon as it popped on my kindle while at work because I just couldn’t wait. Read it it one sitting during a slow shift. My co-workers had to pick up my jaw off the the hospital floor when I was done reading it.
Seriously this is an amazing story that was funny most of the time but when it was serious, it was heartbreaking. What I look for in a story are the characters. Gia and Rush where just perfectly crafted for this story. They had off the chart chemistry. An unique storyline that was full of surprises. I knew this was a duet with the first part ending with a cliffhanger. But I didn’t expect to be left baffled and speechless. WTF was the first word that came out of my mouth.
Warning!!!! This is an highly addicting story that will make you forget everything around you. So sit tight and enjoy this captivating masterpiece.
This is part one of 2. It’s a duet so not a standalone. Told in a dual POV. I highly anticipate Rebel Heart. This is a MUST read.
Did I binge Rebel Heir in a day – yes
Did my holiday dinner almost burn while I was reading this book – yes
Rebel Heir is utterly intoxicating and addictive. I can’t get enough of Rush and Gia!
Oh, my heart! Rebel Heir is total Kindle Crack. I just took a much-expected punch to my heart. Knowing that this is book one of a two book series, I anticipated a cliffhanger ending. I’m not used to hitting the end of a book by Vi Keeland or Penelope Ward and seeing the words “to be continued.” I love a good cliffhanger. THIS IS A GOOD CLIFFHANGER! The way I look at it is I’m getting more of an unputdownable story from not one but two of my favorite writers. Boom! Bring it! I can’t wait to read Rebel Heart on May 22nd I loved everything about this Rush and Gia. I especially loved dirty talking Rush. He is everything you ever wished for in a seemingly bad boy, sexy as hell book with a heart of gold boyfriend. Rush isn’t your stereotypical typical heir with the keys to his families castle. RUSH to one click this one!
Rebel Heir by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward is the first book in their brand new, co-written Rush Series Duet . Told in dual POV between Rush and Gia – this book is yet another amazing, engaging, and fabulous story from two of my favorite authors.
Gia is an aspiring author with a contract waiting to be fulfilled. After winning a competition for the first three chapters of a book she rents a summer share in the Hamptons, spending her advance from the publishers, and hopes to be inspired to finish the story. Covering as bartender at a local bar called The Heights for her friend and roommate who has a family emergency she rapidly learns that she is not cut out for bartending and that her friends boss is a jerk.
Rush is beyond annoyed with this random woman working at his bar, messing up drink orders, back-talking the customers and charging wrong prices. Never mind he didn’t even hire her. Poised to fire her AND her friend he ends up giving her a job there as a hostess and giving her a ride home that night. The draw to be around Gia is something he doesn’t understand and apparently cannot fight.
The rapid friendship between Rush and Gia is natural and sincere and their attraction to each other is palpable. The progression towards more is heartwarming, despite the hiccup along the way. But the cliffhanger ending could potentially be a deal-breaker for Rush. We will find out in Rebel Heart which releases on May 22, 2018. Enjoy!
“Because when you finally accept that you found the one, it’s terrifying that you might lose them and then there’d never be another.”
There will never be a duo like Keeland/Ward. They are fantastic separate, but together they create magic. I just devour their words like it is my last meal.
Rush was just enough bad boy for me. He wasn’t over the top, but definitely had a filthy mouth with a good dose of alpha. The jury was out on Gia for a bit, but she grew on me and the two together balanced out nicely as the story went on.
I knew there was a cliffhanger coming (hence the duet), but I love a good mic drop in a book.
So, pass me a cigarette because I feel like I need one to get me through Rebel Heart.
Holy Chunky Monkey—what a way to leave a girl hanging! I need that next book stat! I think I produced twice as much heartbeats just in that last chapter alone. I may have had a tiny bit of an inkling about that huge twist in the end, but man, that didn’t even take away an ounce of the shock and emotions and a little bit of fear that washed through me. I feel like my heart was just left high up in the air and won’t be able to come back down until I get the second half of this magnificently compelling story.
It’s not very often that I get equally smitten with both the hero and heroine of a book. But Gia astounded me. I loved her personality, perseverance and independence. I loved that she’s writing a romance novel set in the Hamptons and is experiencing writer’s block just like any other person who’s new in the business. She’s real. She’s relatable. And I truly enjoyed her sass, wit and sweetness. She’s just so easy to love. Especially when you see how she handled dealing with a guy like Rush and got through his walls.
Rush isn’t your typical rich bad boy. He may own multiple properties at the Hamptons and has the world at his fingertips, but there isn’t one arrogant bone in his body. A whole lot of broody and cocky, maybe. But not arrogant. He won’t boast and slap his money on your face. He’s just not that kind of guy. Rush is the absolute epitome of ruggedly handsome and rough around the edges, but he’s also a big softy and sweetheart deep inside.
He managed to outshine all the other book boyfriends I’ve read about in the past. He was an alpha male in every sense of the word and he OWNED it. But it’s not just that—he also took kindheartedness, loyalty and protectiveness to a whole other level. Now this… THIS is what you call a perfect MAN. I’m in love. I’m enamored. I’m complete and utterly riveted by this man.
This author collaboration is just absolutely UNSTOPPABLE! The books they’ve written individually are already brilliant and enthralling as it is. But when they write together and produce books like these? They’re unquestionably a force to be reckoned with. You’ll live for every single page, every single chapter and every single moment in this book. Hell, I just want to keep rereading it until Rebel Heart comes out next month.
Rebel Heir is most certainly unputdownable—it has that signature heart and heat and humor and tension we get from Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. It’ll engulf you with so much feels and hook you right from the first page. And I know that this may just be the first half of the story, but I can already say that this book, this story has already surpassed every other book these two authors have co-written. And that’s definitely saying something.
Hold on to your hearts and panties and ovaries. And be ready for this Rebel Heir. There’s going to be so much more to come in the next book—that’s for sure.
P. S. You guys can fight over everybody else, but this sexy, big-hearted butt burglar is mine. Mine. MINE. M-I-N-E. Keep away. I’m staking my claim. Just saying. 😉
5 ‘Damn you Vi & Penelope’ Stars
Consistently I am blown away by Vi and Penelopes collaborations. So much so that I am shocked that I continue to be surprised by this, mainly due to the fact that I love both authors work equally, but for some reason when they work together, the outcome seems to be even more incredible.
This is the first by this duo that is not a stand alone, I repeat not a stand alone and boy was I left wanting the next book more than anything.
This is the story of Gia and Rush. Gia who currently living in the Hamptons while she tries to complete her obligations of a publishing deal. In order to help financially, she takes a job, somewhat less conventionally than most, at the local bar/restaurant. This is where she meets Rush, the guy most people think is a bit of a jerk.
Gia is such a sweet sassy girl and it was easy to love her. I also understand what the attraction was for Rush because he had never met a girl quite like her.
Rush for me was the hands down winner of this book. He liked to come across as a jerk and keep people at arms length, especially his women, but his walls were no match for Gia.
Now what I have to say that shocked me most about this book was that I was completely blind-sided when it came to the ultimate conclusion in this book. I mean I was seriously expecting to want the next book like my life depended on it, but something in particular I should have seen a mile off. Instead it slapped me round the face like a hardback book. But don’t let my utter shock deter you from reading. I can honestly say I loved this book and all it’s emotion and team that with Rush’s filthy mouth and one hell of a storyline makes for a very good read indeed. But why do I have to endure such a long wait? Why did I now have to prolongue that wait by reading the book in one sitting. Because I simply couldn’t do anything but devour it, that’s why!
These two authors combined are, I think, the best duo writers I have ever read.
I can’t get enough of Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. Two of my favorite authors and together they are freaking fantastic. Their writing is phenomenal and as they come out with more and more books together, they just keep getting better and better.
Samantha and Rush are my favorite co-stars by far from this duo. I couldn’t get enough of them, I absolutely loved them. They definitely made my freaking day with this book. I was completely and utterly stupefied with it. I couldn’t put it down. I loved EVERYTHING about this book! The blurb, the story the characters!! There was nothing you could say I disliked about it.
I can definitely say that it gave me all the feels. I always, always have to prepare myself to get emotional with these two authors together. I always know something is coming that will make me teary eyed and saying over and over “no, no, no, but why, why”!
I can definitely say that Rebel Heir is going on my top read for 2018 and I’m sure Rebel Hearts will be right behind it!!
One sexy, funny and emotional read that will have you completely glued to your device!
This book deserves more than 5 stars!!
Rebel Heir is a great read! It’s told in the dual POVs of Rush and Gia and smoothly transitions between the two. Rush is a player and he doesn’t date. He has money but didn’t always have money so he’s not rich cocky guy. He’s actually a sweet guy after Gia gets to really know him. Gia is sassy and sometimes has no filters. The banter back and forth between her and Rush was fun to read. Gia and Rush have amazing chemistry. I was so rooting for them to get together. So this is book one of a duet so yes it’s end is a jaw dropping moment. I can’t wait to read the next one.
4.25 stars–REBEL HEIR is the first instalment in the contemporary adult THE RUSH SERIES erotic, romance duology co-authored by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. This is bar owner and businessman Heathcliff ‘Rush’ Rushmore, and romance author/bar hostess Gia Mirabelli’s story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Rush and Gia) REBEL HEIR follows the forbidden relationship between twenty-nine year old heir and business owner Heathcliff ‘Rush’ Rushmore, and wanna-be romance author / bar hostess Gia Mirabelli. Trying to help out a friend Gia finds herself hopelessly out of her element behind the bar at The Heights, a busy and popular hot spot. But all does not go according to plans when the hot, tattooed and sexy owner discovers Gia is working under false pretenses. Enter bar owner Rush, and the man with whom Gia will fall in love. What ensues is the slow building, relationship between Gia and Rush, and the potential fall-out as Rush refuses to get involved one of his employees, and Gia’s recent past makes an unexpected and shocking appearance.
Gia Mirabelli is a no-nonsense kinda girl who speaks her mind and goes for what she wants, and Gia wants her new employer Rush, but Rush has a no-dating policy where it concerns…everyone. A one-night stand kinda guy, Rush’s attraction to Gia is palpable but he refuses to give in to his heart’s demands. As Rush struggles with his desire for Gia, the ongoing battles with his extended family begin to encroach on his beliefs and ideals.
The relationship between Gia and Rush is one of immediate attraction but Rush refuses to act on his attraction believing he is incapable of love or any kind of permanent commitment. Gia has been burned by her most recent one-night stand, a memory that continues to haunt our heroine to this very day. The $ex scenes are limited but sexual play is abundant and intense. I will add that the use of a certain four-letter word, I find vulgar, is quite pervasive- the heroine also comments on her dislike of the word.
The secondary and supporting characters are colorful and energetic. We are introduced to Gia’s roommate and best friend Riley; her father NYPD police officer tony Mirabelli ; Rush’s half-brother Elliot, and his father Gerald Horvath; and his mother Melody Rushmore.
REBEL HEIR is a heart breaking and animated story line with strong characters. The premise is powerful and engrossing; the characters are spirited and realistic; the romance is sassy, sexy and captivating. There are moments of revelation and inspiration; family and pain; romance and love. REBEL HEIR ends on a cliffhanger-you have been warned!
