I was born to rebel.Against love. Against authority. Against myself.Perfect precision, that’s how Emmy Paquette planned her life. Dancing is her whole world, the one her grandmother wants for her, the world her mother had wanted, too.Until her heart pulls her in a different direction. Writing for the school paper excites Emmy in a way dance never has. Uncovering the truth trumps pirouettes and … Uncovering the truth trumps pirouettes and countless hours in the studio and being true to herself is more important than keeping dangerous secrets hidden.
When her ex-boyfriend threatens her, Emmy knows she’s on the right track to unmask the facts that could ruin his reputation… and ruin the careers of some administrators.
Then she meets the guy with the scars. Philip Quinn saves her from her ex. He may be the one person who can save her from herself.
On the brink of exposing them all, the powers above her shut down her story.
But Emmy is not one to back down.
Emmy has to stand on her own two feet, fight for her values and for what she needs–for what she’s earned–and learn that justice always comes with a cost.

This is the first book I’ve read by Lynn Stevens and it won’t be the last. It was well written and had a fabulous and realistic plot with relatable characters. Quinn and Emmy were wonderful characters and their characters were very well developed. The characters were written in a
way that allowed readers to be able to connect with them on an intimate level. Emmy like many of us started off thinking we knew what we were going to do in college but eventually grew and found our true calling. For her it was investigative journalism. She is a very determined journalist and sought to seek out the truth regardless of the dangers to herself. Quinn was a man who suffered a very painful past and was trying to decide what he wants to do with his his future. When he sees Emmy is in trouble he naturally jumped in because by nature he is a protector. He is drawn naturally to Emmy and her inner beaury. They faced many challenges along the way but they persevered and had a love strong enough to withstand challenges and obstacles. I would highly recommend this book.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Emerald and Quinn. She’s at Camelot U for dance, but she enjoys writing for the paper. When an article she wants to publish gets put in hold then when she’s physically harmed by Colin, Quinn comes to her rescue. Quinn is an ex soldier who was scarred on his face, most people dismiss him. But he and Emerald connect. She’s determined to break the story but trouble keeps coming.

Rebel Princess is the re-telling of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I really enjoyed this story. Quinn and Emerald are just the cutest! Em learns to follow her heart and not care what other people may think. Quinn learns that it’s okay to trust again. This collection is a must read! One-click today!
A great take on Beauty and the Beast and The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Emerald is a college student majoring in dance but thriving in her role as a journalist for the college paper, trying to uncover a cheating scandal at the school involving her ex, Colin, and the championship winning la cross team. One night Collin confronts her, hitting her and in comes Phillip Quinn to run Collin off. Quinn, a former service member disfigured from battle, is a gentle soul, volunteering at the local homeless shelter that helped him out and working for a church close to campus. They have an instant connection and it’s perfect!
Emerald faces challenges with both her dancing and reporting. With the admin censoring the truth and even threatening to expel her, she decides to quit the paper and take her story into the real world. Needless to say, chaos ensues and she’s in for a wild ride. But Quinn is there to help and even with a few minor setbacks (because that’s life) their relationship burns on to the fiery conclusion.
Lynn Stevens does a great job of putting you inside the character’s head. She touches on a few of the hot-spot issues of today (prejudice and privilege) but in an insightful way where good wins in the end. The romance was sweet then hot then scorching and the plot kept me wondering what would happen next. A great story and I highly recommend if you are looking for a quick fun read.
I love reimagined fairy tales! A scarred military hero as Quasimodo, and a feisty dancer/journalist as Esmeralda. But in this version, Quasimodo, aka. Quinn, gets the girl! Fun and sexy, filled with action and intrigue, this is a great story. Definitely worth reading more than once.

I absolutely loved this book! Emmy and Quinn are in one helping a rollercoaster ride.
I have absolutely fallen in love with this modern princess series! This book continues to make me fall harder. Lynn Stevens is a first time author for me, and I will definitely Riley be looking for more of her work.
The characters are so real and you connect on an intimate level. She combines several themes that will appease all romance readers. She takes normal, broken, ordinary people and makes you see them looks they are real life. Her words were powerful, read and raw.
Emmy and Quinn – apart they are strong. Together, they are a force to be reckoned with. These are people who are strong, are not willing to stand up for something even if it’s not poplar, and their chemistry is off the charts!!
I feel like most romance readers will really enjoy this book!
I never read/saw Hunch Back of Norte Dame so I cant really compare this, but it didn’t feel like a Princess to me. The story line was okay and I was able to read it through but it lacked the excitement to me, like the other books in the series. I’m glad she got the ending and stood for what she believed in.
Amazing retelling. Captivating. Suspense and sweet love. Stevens does an excellent job capturing the “rebel” spirit of her modern princess. No crowns necessary.
A fight for justice, no matter the cost! Rebel Princess will have you turning pages faster than you can read. This story shows us that you must stand up for what you believe in, even if you lose everything that matters along the way. This story reels you in from the first page and doesn’t let go! The author will keep you guessing between which characters you can trust, all while rooting for the truth to be exposed and justice served once and for all. A great addition to the series!
Rebel Princess is part of the Modern Princess Collection. This one is a Hunchback of Notre Dame retelling. I admit, I haven’t read the original story, so I have no context for this retelling. Having said that I did ultimately enjoy Emerald’s story. I liked her character and her willingness to fight for what she believed in. I loved her decision in the end with what she published on the Gossip blog. That should have been done a long time before. I still feel like she got a raw deal in the end and would have loved to see what happened after the story was published. I didn’t feel like this one was as much of a romance, because I didn’t see enough of Quinn and Emerald together. I would have liked to see Quinn’s point of view. It would have helped me be more invested in the romance part. I do recommend picking this one up.
I liked Emmy. She was a justice crusader. I love how she stood up and made sure those who were doing wrong were brought to light. Most times it came at a not so pretty cost. And that is where she met her savior, Quinn. He embodies the term hero, being a former military medic. Not everything turns out well for Emmy, but I love that she does what she has to for the truth, her’s and for those around her.
Emerald was trusting when she didn’t think that Colin would hurt her and she learned the hard way. Colin should have been arrested for assault for what he did to Emmy but I guess that is what happens when your father is the Dean of CamU. Security should have called the police along with an ambulance. It was a good thing that Quinn happened by to help her or Colin would have left her for dead. Emmy was on the school newspaper and was getting information on the lacrosse team’s cheating for money. Emmy and Quinn became very close and helped her when he could. Emmy got information and saved it to the cloud in case someone deleted it from her phone and she sent it to her personal email address. Emmy was also a dancer and taking dance at the college. Eventually Emmy sent her information about the lacrosse team and the cover ups to a local newspaper. They hired her and gave a job as a reporter. When the story came out people lost their jobs at the school and things started to change. Quinn and Emmy went to the Ball but people didn’t think that Emmy should have been there since she was expelled. Quinn took Emmy to the bell tower where they had their own ball. Great characters and I loved the story with the drama.
Rebel Princess is Book 4 of the Modern Princess Collection and my favorite so far. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this series but so far they are blowing me away at how good these stories are!
This time around we have a modern-day twist of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. I really enjoyed Emmy and Quinn. They had a great connection and Emmy had a very tenacious spirit in investigating and fighting injustice, even if it sends her life on a different path. Very enjoyable!
I’m so enjoying the Modern Princess Collection, so much that Rebel Princess was an awesome story! The story line was fantastic! Quinn was amazing but Em was more than amazing fighting for what she knows is right! But Quinn and Em are the end game!
I have been enjoying this series and the previous two I have read had been quite cutesy romance stories. Rebel Princess by Lynn Stevens ups the ante as this one I found was quite an edgier read and does contain quite a few potential triggers for readers. At first, I was unsure who our Rebel Princess but by the end of the first chapter, I had an idea. Meet Emmy who is our Esmeralda. She is a dance major and studying ballet under a critical and harsh teacher Madame Guthrie, but her passion is journalism and uncovering big stories. The latest one though has her caught in a crossfire as it involves her ex-boyfriend and some very powerful/ influential students and staff in the school. Her ex follows her and ends up assaulting her when she is rescued by Quinn – our Quasimodo. Later Emmy meets back up with Quinn when she visits a local community shelter and the pair hit it off as Emmy is the first female that Quinn has met since his injuries that doesn’t stare at his scars or treat him differently. The novel follows through the beginning of their relationship and Emmy’s journey to uncovering her big scoop. What will happen though when everything comes crashing down and it looks like Emmy might lose not only her life as a university student but also her new love Quinn? Can Emmy redeem herself and show that even though she rebelled, it was always for the right reasons and prove to Quinn – that he wasn’t wrong about her? Find out all this and more in Rebel Princess by Lynn Stevens. One of the edgier books in the Modern Princess Collection.
So far this is my fav in the Modern Princess Collection. This is the retelling of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” with a bit of a twist. You also get college, military romance with a budding journalist/dancer and a scarred vet returning to school. Eek. It is REALLY GOOD!
I love Emmy and Quinn. In this story you get to know them as individuals before they spice up the page together.
What surprised me most was the intrigue peppered throughout this book. Emmy is on a mission, filled with investigation to reveal a college scandal. She is motivated to right a wrong. LOVE IT! #GoGirl!
Quinn touched my heart. His role with the local soup kitchen is beautiful. Finding his purpose after his service is a nice part of this telling. His protectiveness towards Emmy is wonderful.
Happy Reading Everyone!
Emmy is a reporter on the universities newspaper, and when she got on a big story she is excited, the only problem is too many people want it kept quiet, so when Quinn comes onto the scene and supports her and helps make her believe in herself she thinks all is great, except when it isn’t! As always when a big story hits that people want hidden there are always consequences! Can Emmy find her HEA or is the damage already done.
I did enjoy this book, it kept you wanting to know what happened next!
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.
