I was born to rebel.Against love. Against authority. Against myself.Perfect precision, that’s how Emmy Paquette planned her life. Dancing is her whole world, the one her grandmother wants for her, the world her mother had wanted, too.Until her heart pulls her in a different direction. Writing for the school paper excites Emmy in a way dance never has. Uncovering the truth trumps pirouettes and … Uncovering the truth trumps pirouettes and countless hours in the studio and being true to herself is more important than keeping dangerous secrets hidden.
When her ex-boyfriend threatens her, Emmy knows she’s on the right track to unmask the facts that could ruin his reputation… and ruin the careers of some administrators.
Then she meets the guy with the scars. Philip Quinn saves her from her ex. He may be the one person who can save her from herself.
On the brink of exposing them all, the powers above her shut down her story.
But Emmy is not one to back down.
Emmy has to stand on her own two feet, fight for her values and for what she needs–for what she’s earned–and learn that justice always comes with a cost.
Loosely based off The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Rebel Hearts is a new adult coming of age romance with suspense, courage, and a strong woman who knows to follow her heart.

I totally enjoyed this book. This read provides a whole new twist on The Hunchback of Notre Dame story. I thought Emmy and Quinn were great characters and I loved them together. The story pulls you in and will have you fully invested and on edge as Emmy struggles shine a light on dark secrets and uncover wrongdoing. If triggers are an issue for you, please be aware that this book does contain some. Of my own accord I am posting a sincere review.
Quinn and Emmy’s story is sweet and touching. She use to be all about dance until she got the bug for justice. Determined to bring down the elite lacrosse headed by Colin and his buddies. As doors slam to her one opens by way of Quinn who is battling his own demons. As they bond Emmy’s determination to bring down Colin and his cronies my come at the expense of losing one who has become close to her heart. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
This was another solid offering from this series! Emmy is going to Camelot University for dance but her true passion lies in journalism. Quinn is a veteran with scars both physical and emotional. When Emmy stumbles upon a story that will bring the university down, she runs into danger. Quinn is bound and determined to protect her. Their story is sweet and definitely worth reading! I enjoyed it.
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done
This take on the Hunchback of Notre Dame will definitely have you turning the pages. Emerald is a feisty rebel who fights against injustice and does whatever it takes to bring things to light. She is stronger than she thinks, passionate about her causes, is not a quitter and she looks beyond the surface. Emerald has a fun and quirky roommate who tries to keep Em centered. She has an ex-boyfriend who tries his best to stop her investigation into the lacrosse program. She meets a scarred Army vet with whom she would like to have a relationship with, but it isn’t going to be easy due to his trust issues and her recklessness. In the course of her investigation, Em will also have to make a huge decision regarding the future she thought she should always want and the future that would better suit what she is really good at doing. I am sure that you will enjoy reading this story about a most unlikely princess and her search for the truth and a happy ending.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Great Story!
This is a really great love story with amazing characters and lots of twists and turns to keep you fully engaged and highly entertained from beginning to end. Emmy and Quinn’ story is raw, gritty and very emotional. It was the perfect sweet coming of age story.
This is the retelling of The Hunch Back of Notre Dame. I’m enjoying reading this series! This one is my favorite so far. Emmy and Quinn’s story was sweet, touching and a bit hot. Emmy meets Quinn after an altercation with her ex. There was an instant attraction and Quinn was fascinated and intrigued with the fact that she saw past his scars. Besides the ups and downs of Emmy and Quinn’s relationship there is also the determination we read as Emmy tries to find herself and try to get to the bottom of a huge scandal. Loved it, once I started reading I couldn’t out it down.
I received an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.
I love this twist on the Esmeralda and Quasimodo story. Emmy is after her next big story and meets Quinn who sees her for herself but she also sees him for him and not injuries. There are some twists and misunderstandings but loved getting to see what the writer was doing with this story. It’s a cute and sweet coming of age story.
Rebel princess by Lynn Stevens is the fourth book in the modern princess collection, like the rest of the collection, it is a standalone book and you don’t need to read the rest of the collection.
This story was based on a modern retelling of the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the main character, Emerald, or Emmy for short, comes from a background of working hard for things in life. She has earned herself a scholarship to the prestigious Camelot University where she is majoring in dance. She also works for the school paper and this is where a lot of trouble starts. She’s sniffed out a big story, but it runs deep within the university and there are many people who are determined to keep the story quiet.
Along comes Quinn, he is an army vet who is scarred physically and emotionally from his past but Emmy doesn’t see him like that, she only sees the amazing and caring man he is. With Quinn supporting her she knows she can do what needs to be done.
This was a great story and I really enjoyed it. It wasn’t like a typical romance story and Emmy was definitely not a woman who needed saving, she was strong and independent but Quinn was the perfect compliment to her character.
Excellent quick read! Lots of action that hooks you from the start and a great pair of characters. Wonderful story premise!!
I read an ARC copy of this book.
Really liked this process romance! It wasn’t a cute hea romance. It was messy, complex but ultimately gave the perfect ending for quinn and Emmy. I loved how Imperfect both characters were and how both changed throughout the story. Great job!
This was my first book by this author, and I’ll be reading more. Very well rounded characters with enough relatable issues to bring out the feels. You have a young woman facing a HUGE choice and a young man dealing with his own issues. I would like to have had more of the backstory on him and learned a little more about him overall, but that’s just my natural curiosity. There is enough to let you understand who he is and where he’s coming from. You won’t go wrong giving with this one.
I’m really enjoying the Modern Princess Collection, but this one may be my favorite. What I love most about this book is Emmy’s character; while she loves dance, she loves writing more, and I love that she doesn’t let doors shut in her face because she stumbles upon a deep, dark secret that needs to be exposed (even when others don’t agree with that notion). She’s fierce, she’s a rebel, and she doesn’t take no for an answer. I love that about her.
I also love the relationship that develops between her and Quinn. While Quinn has his own battles to fight, he builds this fairytale relationship with Emmy that is sweet, steamy, and stands up to just about everything thrown at it. Quinn comes so far in this book, and I know he and Emmy have eons to go in their happily ever after.
Thank you to the author for providing an advanced copy of this book. I loved it!
3.5
This book is part of the Modern Princess Collection and the first that I have read by this author and I didn’t know what to expect. This fantasy story with twist is a retelling of the The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and it was written good with a real twist. This book is a sweet, touching romance book that has strong characters and is a good addition to the series.
Esmeralda ‘Emmy’ is a dance major and she is studying ballet, she works really hard for everything in her life. But she absolutely loves to write. When she finds out something she shouldn’t about the lacrosse team that shouldn’t get out, or so they think she shouldn’t really get involved. Emmy wants to bring them down and she is determined and she didn’t realise how difficult this would be.
Quinn is an army vet and he served as a medic in the military in the past and has got a lot of injuries and scars. He has had a hard time dealing with things and when he meets Emmy, Quinn knows that she is different and he really likes her and she doesn’t stare at him and treat him any different and this is what he loves its like his scars are invisible to her.
This book is a slow starter and was written great. The characters had a real connection when they met the modern day twist on this fantasy story. This book is a real quick read with the characters have real Insta love but it did feel a tad predictable in parts to me. Thank you to the author and the publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book. ARC provided in exchange for a honest complimentary voluntary review. These fantasy princes stories are sweet cute romance that are a real Insta connection to the reader especially if you have read the original fantasy story.
