Rush and Gia’s story continues in the gripping conclusion to the New York Times bestseller, Rebel Heir…How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:Sleep with your boss. Check.Blow all your money on a rental you can’t afford. Check. How to walk away from a man you fall in love with at the end of a summer:…I’ll let you know when I figure it out.
This second half of the duet ended on a great happily ever after. At times I wasn’t sure how things were going to work out for Gia and Rush, but it worked out perfectly.
I sort of felt this book drug on a little longer than necessary. There was also some drama added in that seemed to be added just for the sake of drama. Which didn’t really seem paramount in the end for how things worked out.
But once Rush finally pulled his head out of the sand, I enjoyed the last bit of the story. Gia and Rush truly were made for each other.
So here we are with the conclusion to Rush and Gia’s love story. As other couples we have seen ups and downs with them too. Some of them were unimaginable, but at the same they overcame those hurdles very beautifully. I am sad that their story is over but I will always miss them.
Rebel Heart is the conclusion of the story that started in Rebel Heir. Gia and Rush had the start of something good, then something came to light about the baby Gia is carrying and it’s something that Rush isn’t sure he can deal with.
I loved the story. The language is rough and the s.. exploits are explicit, but the story really makes up for that if that’s not your usual read. Rush is totally droolworthy and Gia is sweet. The pair together are incredible!
I listened to the audio version. Maxine Mitchell and Sebastian York are amazing!
This was an up and down, back and forth, dizzied roller coaster ride to go on with Gia and Rush. I have to say I enjoyed every moment of it. Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland are fantastic story tellers.
I listened to the first one in this series, Rebel Heir, almost exactly one year ago. I’d gotten the download of it free from an author’s newsletter. Then I was so disappointed that this one wasn’t available from my library, or in Audible Escape at the time, because I wasn’t paying for the monthly credit from Audible at that time, only for the Escape package. So when I got another deal to sign up for a cheap few months on Audible, I joined that way again. I’d quit even the Escape package with not driving anywhere. And this was the first audiobook I bought, so I could find out what was next. I mean the cliffhanger was major in book 1! I was mad that she didn’t tell him right away like she should have. And while I get him being upset, I felt like he could have figured it out a little quicker with what his background had been like. But I was happy when he finally figured it out, and that the last part of the book had more to do with some other stuff and they knew they’d be good together. All in all a really good series, with lots of love and steam!
“You have to figure out whether your love for Gia is stronger than your hate for your brother.”
Fortunately I found this amazing duet.
Unfortunately I’ve finished reading both books.
What an epic finish to the Rush duet, it really bought rush and Gaia’s stories together. How is it that people can have children, only to abandon them like an unwanted pet. No wonder there are so many people with psychological issues as a result of what can only be described as poor parenting. The characters in this book are really well developed, even the ones you dislike immensely. I’d love to read the story from Elliott’s POV, I’m certain his life wasn’t one to be envied by Rush. A heartbreakingly, beautifully written contemporary romance that somehow shredded my heart but stitched it back together.
This book picks up exactly where Rebel Heir stops. Gia has just discovered that the father of her baby is none other than Rush’s nasty brother Elliott. Not realizing that Gia is pregnant, Elliott just loves reminding Rush that he is having his sloppy seconds but of course, Rush then knows who the father is and this could just be one step too far. This is emotional, funny, full of angst and very steamy and most importantly a HOA for almost all!!
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
Now the conclusion to this story was a bit all over the place. Rush got a lot of advice and each time I thought “Oh this is what will give him perspective” but it did not. I do understand what the authors were trying to do with the whole you do not know what you have till it is gone aspect, however, i do feel that the execution fell short. I also think that he gave up a little too much in the end when he could have had the same result preserving some of it. And of course is the big secret. Although very realistic and expected, there was something lacking.
That said, I am glad that I finished the book and received the HEA at the end. They are great characters and a compelling story with unbelievable circumstances. But it was like the could not catch a break no matter what, even at the end. I wonder if there will be another that will amp up the drama to bring closure with a little thing called Karma. I always did wonder how the Sale of the Nursing Home never came back to bite them in the ass.
This is Book 2 in The Rush Series.
This is part 2 of the story of Rush & Gia. Complications set in from the first page, a continuation from the cliffhanger from the first book. This is a very intense story. The funny banter continues between Rush& Gia. I have to say, the intenseness is truly most of the story, though. Things happen one right after the other. Is there ever an end to the bad situations that occur? These characters are wonderful. Rush is always doubting himself. It takes him some time to come to any realizations. There is an HEA. This is a great series. I look forward to more of Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland’s books. They are great writers.
So good. Great continuation!!
In Rebel Heart, Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward really explore the deep and emotionally charged dilemma Rush faces in light of learning Gia’s secret. He’s enraged, feels betrayed, is plagued with doubts, and at times is hopeless and helpless. Throughout it all his love for Gia is a constant but he’s not sure that’s enough. Gia copes as best she can while trying not to lean on Rush even as he seems to be there at every turn urging her to let him take care of her. It’s her firm resolve to move on with her life that finally causes Rush to fully understand just how mich he stands to lose.
I saved this Keeland/Ward duet for last thinking it was going to be just a light beach read, but boy was I wrong. True to form, this story was full of page-turning plot twists and turns. I cried and ached for Rush and Gia’s situation but loved the well-developed storyline and well-deserved HEA. Don’t make the same mistake I made. Read this story NOW!
RUSH…RUSH…RUSH…
REBEL HEART is the perfect conclusion to Rush and Gia’s story….and you have to read REBEL HEIR first….This is such a good series…And I loved it…
Rush is 100% all alpha male, but he has the biggest heart…. I love his inner dialogue….Gia is a sweet, feisty woman who has had some hard knocks in life…but, so has Rush…Gia is in love with Rush and Rush is in love with Gia…LUCKY GIRL…
*Audio Review – 5 Stars*
So, once I got started on this one, I really didn’t want to stop listening. I would listen on my walks, listen in the car to and from work, and then just play games on my phone so I could listen then too.
I loveeddddd getting the rest of Gia and Rush’s story, and I was quite happy with how everything panned out in the end. I really wasn’t sure at times what Rush was going to turn around and do, and then a bunch of things popped up with his family, and I was waiting for things to drop there too.
Gia and Rush seem to communicate fairly well, particularly given their situation, and Rush never treated her like she was in the wrong, or treated her poorly at all, which was great. He dealt with things in his own way, never taking it out too immensely on her, which I felt showed great maturity for his character.
Oak was one of my favourite secondary characters in these books, and there were some cool moments with him in this one too. Tony, Gia’s Dad, was another cool one.
I loved the ending, and how everything turned out, and now that I’m finished this audio, I won’t know what to listen to next. The bar has been set!
**3.5 stars**
I wanted this sequel to knock my socks off, but unfortunately, it didn’t. I wanted the resolution of the drama to be…more.
I still enjoyed it though – the writing, the banter, the dirty talking, the beautiful man that is Rush.
The narrators for the audiobook were great, as they were in book 1.
This was a great ending to this duet.
Rush and Gia will take you on another fun filled, sexy yet emotional rollercaoster. There were so many twists and turns in this book. I couldn’t get enough.
I loved the conclusion to Rush and Gia’s story. I had to know how it would all play out with their perilous situation. The happily ever after was perfect.
Rebel Heart leaves off where Rebel Heir ended. I thought Rebel Heir was amazing g. However, Heart is truly amazing. I didn’t want it to end. Rush had a really hard time accepting who the father of Gia’s baby is. I don’t want to give any spoilers so all I am going to say is this is a must read. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. I loved it. The writing collaboration between Vi and Penelope is truly wonderful.

OMG!! Book picks up right where Rebel Heir left off, at the party!
Gia who is now fighting her inner self isn’t sure if her 1 night stand is the same person in the room or not.
Rush who is totally into being the father to Gia’s baby is all about Gia and her needs.
This book you will ride a roller coaster of emotions! I was happy, then sad, then pissed. I wanted to punch Rush and tell him to get his head out is ASS! Good thing for Gia’s dad!
What I found fascinating though is Rush’s dad towards the end. He made a confession in front of Rush and Gia and that will never leave the hospital room. I was happy to see what he did though, made me tear up.
Rush and Gia deserve each other and so totally wished there was another book, however this one had enough drama to last them a lifetime.
