Book One in the Dead Man’s Ink Series. This book contains strong ties with the Blood & Roses series, but you do not have to have read those works in order to read this one. Rebel is a contemporary romance story with occasional dark themes that some people might find confronting.
Sophia
Sometimes, you don’t mean to become another person. Sometimes the choice is made for you, and pretending … you, and pretending is the only thing that keeps you going. When Alexis Romera is taken and her kidnappers find her fake ID in her purse, she must become Sophia in order to keep her family safe. Revealing her real identity to the man she’s sold to would be easy enough, but can she trust him? Hell bent on revenging the murder of his uncle, Rebel doesn’t seem all that interested in playing things safe.
In fact, nothing about the secretive, dark and brooding MC president seems safe at all.
Rebel
What do you do when the man who raised you is murdered, and the only witness is kidnapped girl who’s being sold as a sex slave? You buy her, of course. As president to the most powerful motorcycle club in America, Rebel isn’t lacking in power. There are strings the man can pull, and entire criminal organisations and corporate businesses alike would fall to their knees. However, along with such power comes intense interest. The DEA have their eye fixed solely on the MC…and they’re just waiting for Rebel to trip up.
Getting Sophia to testify is the only way to bring the Los Oscuros cartel down. The beautiful, dark haired, dark eyed woman is belligerent and uncooperative and unlikely to bend to his will, but Rebel has a few tricks up his sleeve to make her compliant–he’ll charm her until she’s bending over backwards to please him.
Of course, falling for her might cause a few hiccups along the way…

A girl named Alexis witness the murder of a stranger, which makes it hard for the group responsible to leave her be. So she becomes Sophia, the name on her fake ID, the girl who got kidnapped and sold as a sex slave. She was at the wrong place, at the wrong time. That day she lost everything she knew and got thrown into a world of violence.
A biker interrupts the scene of the murder, has a few words with the murderers, gives them a bullet after carving three letters into it: war. But before he hands Sophia the bullet, he grabs her and tells her to tell them she’s a virgin.
Rebel, the president of The Widow Maker MC, wants to have revenge on who murdered his uncle. He sees the footage of that day and notices the girl who tried to help his uncle before he got killed. He watches as she gets dragged into the alleyway, then disappears.
“She was going to help him.” I take a deep breath. “So now we need to help her.”
And that’s what he does.
She thinks that her life is over.
She didn’t realize that he helped her.
She tries to escape, but Rebel tells her that her life will be in danger. She can’t go back to her old life. The man she saw get murdered was his uncle, and he needs her help.
So she stays to help him.
She understands him. Develops feelings for him.
“The Widow Makers say I’m stone-cold, Soph. They say I’m made of ice. When the rest of the club meets you, I’m pretty sure they’re gonna say you’re made of fire.”
Then things get worse when they find the body of Rebel’s friend on the kitchen floor of his parent’s house. And standing right across from them is none other than Hector Ramirez. The guy who’s responsible for Rebel’s uncle’s death.
MC’s, alpha males and kickass females. I enjoyed this one.
Callie Hart doesn’t hold back in this breathtaking series.
Meet Rebel, hot, charming, brainiac President of the MC Widow Maker. He’s a no nonsense man, scarred by his past, loyal to a fault, will go any length to protect what’s his. After a criminal gang kills his uncle he’s dead set on getting even, avenge and delivering justice. His opportunity arises when the person witnessing the crime could get on the stand and testify.
Seen as Rebel is hot as sin it should be no problem to charm this young woman into helping him and do what he wants, it’s always worked in the past…
Rebel may flee relations but there is no denying he knows that he wants, hats off to Ms Hart for making him wish for a bad ass as his life companion, contrary to popular belief about most MC Prez
#I don’t need an old lady. I need an equal who will still shoot someone in the face for me if I need them to.#
Sophia is the unfortunate witness of a crime, as if that wasn’t enough she’s also caught the interest of the despicable man responsible for said act. She found herself in hell with no hope of escape, help comes from the most unlikely place and it doesn’t look like it’s free either.
Sophia isn’t ready for the full on blast that is Rebel, she doesn’t know what drives him and doesn’t trust him. However there is a spark that no matter how hard she tries to fight or hide, it’s there. As she gets to know Rebel her perception shifts, how long can she fight temptation? Bury the potential chemistry that’s bound to break free?
Sophia may be new to her feelings but she doesn’t shy away, she embraces her new self and rides the wave of her new life.
I like the world of MC depicted by Ms Hart, it’s not your typical cliché MC world and for that I’m so grateful she brings a new perspective, shed a new light on something that looks pretty much the same, she actually makes it attractive without taking out the dangerous dark edge, the Widow Makers is a club I’d like to be part of even if I’m not into MC.
#Ain’t a single man born on this planet without the good graces of a woman. Clubs that refuse women in their ranks are fucking retarded.
The Widow Makers are black, white, Asian, Hispanic, male, female—you name it, we got it. Our bikes aren’t the kind of things you’d see being built on Orange County Choppers.#
Rebel and Sophia are a perfect match, even if opposites they have a lot in common, unfortunately fate has other plans, their story hasn’t even begun and they have to face the first of many challenges.
#“The Widow Makers say I’m stone-cold, Soph. They say I’m made of ice. When the rest of the club meets you, I’m pretty sure they’re gonna say you’re made of fire.”#
He’s a Rebel with a Cause
We met Alexis’s sister Sloane in the Blood and Rose series, when she’s looking for her sister who has disappeared without a trace This is Alexis’s story.
This is the second time I’ve read this book but I never got to finish it for some reason and never left a review, so I’m starting againAlexis is kidnapped when she witnesses a murder and sold to keep her quiet. Unbeknownst to her, the person who has bought her, really just wants her help. She is wary, naturally because of her experiences, but as she gets to know Rebel she starts to trust him and wants to help him. The chemistry between this couple is potent and the tension thick
A not to be missed story Can’t wait to read what happens next
„I’ll keep you safe, no matter what.”
Even though I met Rebel and Sophia in the Blood and Roses series, they both turned out to be so much more in their own story! I FLOVED the first installment of the Dead Man’s Ink series. It’s action-packed, suspensful and filled with a delicious tension that keeps you at the edge of the seat and makes you constantly bite your lip!
Rebel… sigh! He’s definitely a mean mofo, but from the very beginning you can see that he is a protective and loyal guy. He’s a complex character who went through something that changed him and pulled him into darkness, making him ruthless and dangerous. But there are times when we also see his good side.
Now Sophia… I love her feistiness. Even when she’s terrified, she is still a spitfire full of sass. There were moments when she made me mad with her judgmental attitude, but overall I really liked her personality.
Although the physical attraction between these two is instant, the relantionship development is slow. Their story is so much more than a romance. Pulled into a vortex of danger and vengeance, Rebel and Sophia must learn to trust each other. And while they were working on it, the sexual tension between them was building up to the point of being explosive. I get goosebumps just from thinking about Sophia and Rebel together!
This book is a slow-burn, but there’s always something going on throughout the storyline. There’s constant action, and that combined with the sinful lust between Sophia and Rebel makes this book immersive and unputdownable. Diving right into the next installment, because that cliffy at the end was jaw-dropping!
Rebel (Dead Man’s Ink #1) is dark, disturbing, and sinfully sexy. The storyline is gripping and the characters are fantastic. This series is a spin off of the Blood & Roses series so we’ve already met Rebel and Sophia/Alexis so the excitement continues. I loved it!
Sophie aka Alexis was witness to a murder and was taken by a cartel. She is saved by Rebel so she can testify to put them in prison. She is scared because her family was threatened by them if she told anyone but she has to now make a choice. Does she stay with Rebel, and testify or does she go home back to her family who have no idea where she is or what’s happened to her?
What a way to start off this series! Callie Hart is so good at keeping you on the edge of your seat from the beginning!! This book was action packed from the beginning and ended in tragedy. I love Rebel so far! He’s a protector that doesn’t take kindly to men who lay their hands on women. And Sophie is a spit fire. Gotta love the sassy ones right? I’m so ready to dive into the next book in this series!
I really love the story of Rebel and Sophie! Enjoyed it so much! The way the author told it was very intriguing. If you love the Blood and Roses series, you’ll definitely want to continue with this series! This one was just WOW!
