While others were reading this book, I left it languishing on my “to be read” pile. At last I finished it and am so sorry I waited so long. Rebecca is one of the most exquisitely written books I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. A young girl marries a thirty-something widow (or is he 40-something??) and goes to live on his estate called …
Perhaps my favorite book of all time – and those are words I simply don’t use. I’m torn about seeing it on BookBub’s list of the 26 greatest novels, because I like to think that my tastes are “off” from the pack or some such nonsense – but I do tend to always root for the underdog, and I do try to find new things to catch my interest, especially …
Rebecca is one of my favorite books of all time. A must read!!
Favorite book of all time!
Oh by far one of my favorite authors ever. I have read everything she has written. When I was little girl, my grandmother always spoke of this author. I started with this one and I was hooked. I love this author and you cant miss with Rebecca.
A classic. Should be read by everyone
Definitely a book to finish and read again a decade later. I learn more and understand the breadth of the novel better each time.
If you love Gothic Romance, check it out.
A classic.
My favorite book ever!
A classic
This is a classic and the arch type for psychological mysteries. Brilliant, beautifully written and always good to read.
“Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again.” I was hooked with that first line and all the way through. One of the best gothic fiction books out there.
This book is a classic example of a gothic novel. If you loved Wuthering Heights, then you will love this book as well.
Despite the praise of this book as brilliant, a first rate mystery and pioneer of the genre, I did not like it. It was very dark and depressing and tragic. But I didn’t like Wuthering Heights, either.
One of my to ten books! Everybody should read this one.
The path f true love does not come so easy when there are malevolent forces that make Rebecca’s new husband’s home, a mausoleum in memory to his late wife!
A classic must-read.
A great book turned into a great movie!
This was my favorite book growing up. I loved the characters and story, and read it quite a few times. I still have wonderful memories and hope to reread it again
