Running from high society to a better life
Rebecca is Book Two in The Widows of Birch Harbor series by Nancy George. The author is telling the story of Rebecca who is a woman in definite need of a new beginning in life and hopefully a happy one. She has suffered and been humiliated beyond the pale by her husband and society maven mother-in-law. When her husband dies she is surprised to find she is the beneficiary of a life insurance policy for a rather large sum of money. This allows her to move away from everything that has shackled her and start anew somewhere else, in Birch Harbor. There she finds Eli, a man who shows her what it is to be loved and cherished. But Eli comes with one more lovable attachment………………Tank his dog, who added a lot to the story of Rebecca.
My one complaint is that we did not become privy to the depth of Rebecca’s backstory. I would have liked to understand more of what went one with her life before she met her husband and why she got married to him. It may have been an instance of him hiding his true nature until after they were already married or it could have been that she did not think she deserved better. It is a question that is not answered.
I enjoyed the story of Rebecca and found it completely engaging and well written.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I enjoyed this book as much as the previous one in this series. This author continues to impress me with each book I read of hers. It is a well written story with great characters. They made the story feel real. I couldnt put it down once I started it. I highly recommend this book.
This is book two in the Widows of Birch Harbor series. I have not read these books in order but they are a standalone read. However, previous characters cross paths but you get enough back story so the character is coming out of left field. This book is Rebecca and Eli’s story. Rebecca is from the wrong side of the tracks and marries Luke. He is the apple of his Baltimore socialite mamas eye and can do no wrong. But see Luke is a ceappy husband and according to her mother in law, it is all Rebecca’s fault. Its not her fault he cheats and doesn’t take their marriage seriously. On one of his escapades, Luke has a stroke and does not pull through. Rebecca sells off everything she can and takes what he left her and leaves. She finds herself in Lipton. She stays at The Inn and falls in love with the town as well as the sheriff is not looking too bad. There are a few twists to this fast paced read but it was a really good story. I sure hope we get more on Abe and Rose! Enjoy!

I am truly loving this series! Each one is a short and quick read, I read 2 in less than 4 hours yet so much detail in the story. Strong characters you’ll fall in live with and a story line that won’t let you put the book down til you finish. I love how the women take back their lives, find new love and new lives in Birch Harbor.

Quick and steamy read. Rebecca leaves Baltimore to live the life she deserves. It great! I highly recommend!
Rebecca has never been good enough for her snooty mother-in-law, the queen of Baltimore society. Her husband had been unfaithful for years, and his death following a stroke while in an extremely compromising position is a welcome relief. So is the fact that her husband left her a large life insurance policy, and $2 million in a bank account. She leaves Baltimore for a new life, and ends up in Birch Harbor, where she finds a house and a new man. This was a nice story – the characters were likable (except for the MIL). Rebecca got her revenge in a very sweet way, and moved on. It was short and easy to read. This is the third book in the series that I’ve read, and I have enjoyed them all.

Rebecca is introduced to us near the end of the life of her husband. His choices have been very irresponsible. His mother, Jacqueline, has been overindulging and very blind to his faults.
The house, the cars, significant personal items all belonged to his family, and Jacqueline often threatens their removal or withdrawal.
As the beyond the scope of dignity choices her husband made reach a fatal conclusion, Rebecca is surprised to learn that a life insurance policy in a large sum is left to her. She has a chance for a life, somewhere beyond the scope of Baltimore society.
There are challenges and new opportunities ahead, and a full life might be possible- and she has the means to secure it.
Mixed with a bit of pain, but filled with hope and possibilities, Birch Harbor offers another widow a new start.
Intense and challenging storylines- great KU reads!

This author has become I will read more of! This is my first book by her, but I am amazed. She writes flawlessly and kept me begging for more. She has written a story of heartbreak, redemption, and second chances.
Rebecca’s story starts out pretty rough. Her life takes an unexpected turn. Her story continues to when she’s in Birch Harber and you see how her beautiful story unfolds.
This is the second novella in the Widows of Birch Harbor Series. Rebecca’s story is beautifully written. I loved it! She is a beautiful, understanding, and strong character. Eli is a handsome character, loving and caring. The secondary characters are also great. The storyline as some twists and turns, and a beautiful ending. Now, I can’t wait for the next book in this Series, Emmerson.
