I died for Hostess cupcakes.I know. Tragic, right?Even worse, after I came back I still didn’t get any cupcakes. What I did get, however, is a six-foot-something reaper with eyes like blue fire to guide me into the world of the supernatural. Which, as it turned out, wasn’t quite like the fairytales little girls are told growing up.Not only is magic real, more importantly, so are monsters. And … real, more importantly, so are monsters.
And apparently, I’m one of them.
But I’m getting ahead of myself here.
You see, four years ago I left my hometown and swore to never come back.
Now my brother is dead and I have no choice but to go searching for answers. Except finding them isn’t easy when the secret society he belonged to is covering it up.
I gotta find out who killed him while watching my own back, because if I’m not careful I might be next—and this time, there’s no do over. Luckily for me, Mr. Single and Hot as Fck is determined to help me keep my ass alive.
I’m a lucky, lucky girl.
Some days.

I thought the blurb sounded interesting and was not disappointed. The story was fun to read and very entertaining. The characters were entertaining and loved Salem and Graves interactions. The story was simple in theory but fun too and the supernatural element and world introduced here should be wild and fun in the books to come as I was only barely introduced this time around. I was hooked by the end of chapter 1 and the bit of mystery and outright hilariousness will keep me reading this series. I cannot wait to see what happens next and what will be revealed next especially due to how the story ended.
Salem and Graves will have you rolling with laughter, pull your emotions all over the place, with all the twist and turn and the love of hostess cupcakes and food they take you on amazing, thrilling, adventurous read. In a small town full of different things will the truth be able to seen under all the lies? Can’t wait to see what else these two ladies come up with.
Flying down the mountain road at high speed, Salem Kaine reaches over for her purse on the car seat and searches its depths for a pack of Hostess Cupcakes she had stashed in there. Something big and furry ran from the side of the road and stopped right in front of her. The last thing she saw before top-still-down convertible flipped were red eyes staring straight at her as she didn’t even have time to scream!
She opened her eyes, wondering why there was no pain or crushed bones, only to find herself standing in a forest. A girl’s voice said she couldn’t stay there, and she spun around to face her. The girl was in an antique black lace dress, looking like Morticia on the Addams Family TV show. The girl shoved her – with freezing cold hands — toward her burning car and told her she had to go back “before someone else claims what you have abandoned.” What did THAT mean?? She figured it out when the girl pointed to Salem’s body lying beside the car! “They’re coming!”
Salem sat up, alive again it seemed, and tried to crawl back into the burning car with its sharp metal edges – because she still wanted those cupcakes! Lucky for her, a tall handsome guy with piercing blue eyes stopped her and spoke her name right before she was about to let loose some vile language for his interrupting her! Then he said she had already missed her brother, Shep’s, funeral so why come back now? And she was ready to do some violent harm to this guy. He offered her a ride, which she refused, until he said he may have some M&M’s (because Shep had told his best friend about her chocolate weakness) and since she was being a brat about this . . . It didn’t go well.
The bottom line, if the reader can stop laughing through the first part of the book, is that Salem came back to her hometown to find out who murdered her brother. She gets help from the stranger she was ready to kill named Alexander Graham Graves, III, her brother’s best friend and a Grimm Reaper, the perfect guy to help her ease into her new supernatural role. So what’s going on? Grab your copy and enjoy this powerfully funny story line that is fast-paced and absolutely addicting! You will not regret one moment of reading this start to what promises to be an excellent series! Can an angry woman actually “kill” a Grimm Reaper? Keep reading and find out!
Not your Mama’s fairytale
There is absolutely nothing dark or scary about this story. It is lighthearted with so many laugh out loud moments that your cheeks will hurt and your sides will ache. That being said, this story has such wonderful character development that you will completely fall in love with Salem and Graves. However, like all good fairytales, there are plenty of twists and turns along the way and many new friends to meet. I think my absolute favorite is Shep the Sheep!!!!! I am anxiously awaiting book 2!!!!
4.5 stars for fun and originality!
This is the first book in the series and I cannot wait for the rest! This is a fun, fast-paced romp through a new paranormal world with it’s own unique mythology – Succubi, Grimm Reapers, you name it – and all the rules around that kind of society interacting with normals.
Salem finds herself dealing with a bunch of complications she never could have imagined after getting into a car accident after her twin brother’s death. His best friend Graves and her best friend Tamsin are both keeping a BIG secret from her and things are about to get really, really messy!
This was so fun to read, and the tension between Salem and Graves is intense! Bring on the next book!
This was a great start to The Grimm Brotherhood series. I really enjoyed the storyline and characters and found both well written. I’m looking forward to reading the next book. I recommend reading.

Even though this is only the first in the The Grimm Brotherhood Series I am hooked, I love the characters and Salem is the perfect leading lady and will you going through an array of emotions as we follow her on her journey to find out about her brothers death while also getting use to her not so alive self!

I am loving this start of a new series!! Why? because chemistry that is a slow burn romance with a kick arse, take no nonsense female with a love for chocolate cupcakes and a mystery to solve! Grim on the other hand is just trying to keep her alive. Poor guy!! Five stars!
This book and the characters portrayed in it were well written and entertaining. Salem was snarky in a mostly charming way, and I loved that she was honest with everyone including herself. Friendship, loyalty, acceptance, courage, determination, and the joy of eating are some of the themes in this binge-worthy story. It ends in a SFN cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I received a free copy of Reaper’s Blood, but that did not affect my review.
Good start to a series with well developed characters, plot and a great kickass heroine. I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
This book is almost a 5 stars for me. I think so much happens in this book and it has such an enthralling plot that when you there to the last page, you almost have a WTF moment. Not because it’s bad, but because there are NO MORE PAGES TO READ . I have to wait months for more of this quick-witted, snarky, bubble-gum haired, Hostess cupcake eating fool (I mean that it the best way) to come back into my life to fill me in on what happens next. Torture!!
So yeah, I enjoyed this book. My favorite is the how the author uses the stuffed sheep as a side-kick. His character totally had me grinning. I too, wish for a reanimated stuffed sheep to keep me company. Baaa girl.

Awesome story line and really hilarious!! Can’t wait for the next book!!
This was such an interesting read! I loved reading these two authors’ supernatural story and can’t wait to continue reading the series. I’m also really enjoying the slow burn romance with Salem and Graves. Salem is super snarky and makes this book so fun to read. Anyone who enjoys reading fantasy and mystery books will absolutely love this book! 5 stars!

Salem died reaching for hostess cupcakes (can’t say I blame her). When she is saved by a ghost and a reaper her whole life is turned upside down.
This was an interesting read. It started off learning about the supernatural past of the Grimm Reapers. When Salem vows to find her brother she learns things she never new about her family and friends. As the story continues so does the angst and the action. Loved Salem as she was sassy and funny. Her best friend was a hoot. Then came Graves, he was a mystery at first but you soon learned his personality. This book was just the Beginning of a story full of suspense, action and angst. I can’t wait to see what the future brings.
As the blurb said.. “I died for Hostess cupcakes.
I know. Tragic, right?” Her love for food is real!!
I absolutely love Salem she has no filter, if she thinks it it’s coming out her mouth! This book will have you laughing so hard make sure you’re not drinking anything while you read this book!
Salem returns home after a tragic event in her life, only to have her world turned upside down.. literally and figuratively. Her life as she knows it is gonna change, she meets Graves tall, dark and handsome with bright blue eyes her first night back and little does she know how important he’s going to become to her..
I don’t want to give too much away but.. this book definitely need to be on your TBR!! Meg Anne and Kel Carpenter do an fabulous job bring these characters to life!
Usually I don’t let character’s dictate my feelings about a book but this time Salem just takes the cake. Not sure how many ways I don’t like her but attitude and all is just too much. She claims she just goes with the flow but she’s a sarcastic rude unemotional mean girl (for lack of a better description). While this is a clean read the language is over the top and takes away from the story. It does have plenty of action and other characters which are much more likable. Most people wont mind the things that tear me up about Salem so expect an awesome ride as she figures out who and what she is and what happened to her brother. The writing is excellent, the story will keep you invested in the outcome and the reason I give it so many stars. I love these two authors and look forward to more of the series I just have to get past Salem and I hope I get the chance.
