Your dead are our business.Got a loved one who’s passed? Want to ask your dead aunt where she hid that elusive will? Head over to Necro city and look no further than Soul Savers Inc. One day the world was normal, and the next, it was filled with ghosts. And then the reapers came. Blood-sucking hot dudes with wings and wicked scythes. They took control, and now we have a system. Now we have Necro … They took control, and now we have a system.
Now we have Necro city, the hub of all things untethered.
As a soul relocation agent, it’s my job to rehouse the dead until the reapers come to collect, but with so few of those dudes about, the wait isn’t pretty. Thank goodness for decent coffee, frosted donuts, and a pending promotion.
Things are looking good until they’re not.
One bar fight and a dead reaper later, I’m left holding the scythe.
Not just any scythe, but a scythe belonging to one of Lilith’s four favored sons—the most powerful reapers in the world.
For some reason, it’s chosen me.
Now, three very large, very pissed off reapers are on my case.
It looks like that promotion is going to have to wait.
A kickass Urban fantasy with a why choose romance. Vampires, ghosts, angels, and demons. Perfect for readers who enjoy forbidden romance, enemies to lovers, or friends to lovers.

Absolutely Loved this new world and the start to this new adventure with Debbie Cassidy. Each time she starts a new series you are looking forward to it but thinking it cant better the last one and once again she has proved us wrong. This book is AMAZEBALLS!!!!!!!
Slower start than normal but that’s needed as she has done an amazing job with the world building, Really original idea, Great Female MC Fee with a wonderful best friend and 3 scrumptious Dominus Reapers and a shifter pack leader who could be another love interest.
Debbie has created Complex characters that bounce off each other so well with banter that works so well.
There are also little additions such as the house imps that make you smile
This storey instantly pulls you in and immerses you in this wonderful new world, the storey is so good that you need to give your self time otherwise you will definitely lose sleep as you wont be able to put it down and when you have finished you are instantly disappointed as book 2 isn’t here yet and you really do need it like NOW!!!!
I loved this book from the beginning.
Serafina (Fee) works for Soul Savers Inc, helping the dead move on. With a ghost as a best friend and a pet snake, Fee is just waiting for the promotion that means she can see her beloved Aunt again. That’s until she witnesses the death of a Reaper and she’s left holding his scythe. Now thrown into the Reaper world and feeling out of her depth, she has to content with the other 3 head reapers who don’t seem very pleased.
Conah is so sweet and helpful, but wow is there a revelation at the end that really made me want to smack him.
Mal is the typical obnoxious man whore, who loves nothing more than to insult and wind up Fee, but she just can’t help drooling over him anyway.
Azazel is mysterious, with a questionable link to Fee’s past.
Fee is such a likeable character, she is sympathetic to other, loyal to her friends but doesn’t let anyone walk over her. She threw herself into situations without much thought, which was quite often reckless, but she’s managed to survive so far.
I was really pulled into the world, there was a huge amount of information to learn, and although I’m not sure I took it all in, I loved the story anyway and can’t wait to see where the story goes.
I’d wanted to try out this author for years and am not disappointed. This gets off to a slow, but interesting start, if that makes sense. It’s intriguing and world-building, laying the ground work and introducing our heroine, who, I expect to see evolve into a complete bada—.
There’s action, drama, some violence, real feels, death, mystery, conspiracy … all the makings of an epic saga. Lots to like. Will likely seek more from this author.
4 stars.
Note:
I loved this narrator, her voice was very smooth and held up well to being sped up. Tones and pronunciations are great and no extraneous noise in this production. 5-star performance and production.
Another home run for an amazing author with an imagination like no other. The world building in this book was phenomenal and I am truly excited to learn more about it. Fee is an interesting and entertaining character and I can’t wait to continue her journey in the next book.
Reaper Unexpected (Deadside Reapers Book 1) Kindle Edition
by Debbie Cassidy
I borrowed this book via Kindle Unlimited. I am choosing to leave a fair and honest review.
“You’d think being dead and having all the time in the world would make ghosts a little more patient. You’d be wrong “
Seraphina (call her Fee) lives in a time not so far from our own, where a virus’s side effects mean that humans can see the dead. Like many others, she works in the system to send the spirits on to the afterlife. That is until she comes into possession of one of the Dominus’s scythe’s, making her one of the Reapers.
This is a why choose or RH romance, but it is a slow burn, as in nothing really happens during this first book. The book seems to be dedicated to laying out the world, the magic and Fee’s life. It also lands on a cliffhanger.
Clearly inspired by a number of other urban fantasies – like Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan series and a touch of LKH’s Anita Blake, Reaper Unexpected has a sly feel to it. The reader is treated to a blended magical system that includes talking snakes, imps (who behave a bit like a brownie), angels and demons as well as the dead.
Fee carries the burden of narration, and she does that with joie da mort! She is able to show compassion as well as a desire to just do her job!
All in all, a fairly good #whychoose/reverse harem and it will be interesting to see how the story continues. Normally, this would get 3 stars, but because I like Cyril, I am going with 4 stars out of 5
Reaper Unexpected (Deadside Reapers Book 1) – Kindle edition by Cassidy, Debbie. Paranormal Romance Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.
I’ve only just discovered Debbie Cassidy, but now I’m a huge fan. I started book one of the Deadside Reapers series with the intention of just reading the first book as there were three other series I wanted to try out. A week later and I’ve read the first six books in the series and am now eagerly awaiting the seventh and final installment next month. The world-building is second to none and the sometimes flawed, but wonderful characters are all incredibly three dimensional. You really root for them to get their happily ever after. I don’t know what I’m going to do when this series is over – probably get to work on reading some of Debbie’s backlist. Highly recommend.
From the start of this book to the end I was fairly well engrossed. I almost finished it the same day. The main character Fee is a pretty strong character. She knows a bit about the supernatural and all but not really about herself. So obviously there is some self discovery in this book but that really just leads to more questions about her history. I absolutely loved the dynamic between her and the guys. The obvious easy chemistry with her and Conah, the hate but she finds him oh so sexy Mal, and the quiet oh so stoic Azazel. Last she meets a Grayson whom she is quite drawn to twice, I’m not sure what Debbie has in store for this hot sexy guy that Fee just had to touch, But I’m sure there is something. You can tell she has quite the story planned and I really look forward to reading the next book.
Oh man this is a magnificent story. It is packed with drama, suspense, a bit of mystery and humor. It drew me in and didn’t let go. I had to find out what happens in the story. It does end in a cliffhanger but the ride to get there is amazing. It is well written and the characters are stunningly developed. I lived Fee’s sassy self. She is spitfire and love all rolled up into one. Mal has me laughing with his antics and actions. This is one story that needs to be read and doesn’t disappoint.
Exceptional new paranormal series. The world building is outstanding and the characters are moving and authentic. There are plot twists all over the place that keep you turning the pages as fast as you can. The FMC is sharp and soulful. This was a highly addictive read and I can’t wait for the next book.
OMG Debbie Cassidy has done it again! This women is a fantastic writer and she really knows how to grab the reader by the throat, suck you into the story and fully captive you!
This book was fully captivating from page one and at the end I was yelling for more immediately! Fee is such an exciting FMC, she is broken and tough but at the same time vulnerable and sensitive. I loved the scenes when she would just loose it while trying to protect the weak, she is kick ass and her confidence shines through…this is where you really start to see who she is. Debbie Cassidy has created a FMC who is relatable but still being exciting.
Then we start to meet the guys…Grayson is not in this book much but he is intriguing and I think that he will shine more in upcoming books. The reapers…Mal is a douch but he really starts to grow on you with his Tough exterior but then you see some of his sensitive side and you can see who is can be deep down. Conah is super nice to Fee but I just hate how he keeps her in the dark about things that are so important to her survival…to me is he annoying. Then there is Az…the favourite of them all…the strong silent type that has you wanting to read more and more from him because when he talks it means something. But he is hiding a secret that ends will mean a lot in the second book!
Debbie Cassidy has once again developed a world that is so different to everything else that is out at the moment…this world is captivating and like her other series will just become better and better with each book as it starts to reveal more and more.
Finally I can honestly say that I think my favourite character is Cora, Fee’s roommate, best friends and all round great side kick! This has got to be my new favourite series from Debbie Cassidy and one that I will be able to read over and over again without loosing interest! This is a highly recommended buy…cannot wait for book two!
The first book I have read by this author, and nowhere near the last. I can’t gush enough about the start of this series, and I fricken adore the characters so far.
Well, except for a certain someone, *cough* Conah *cough* who has trampled all over my heart.
An absolute must-have on your reading list.
OMG this is so awesome! It’s an awesome kick ass urban fantasy that I guarantee you will not be able to put down! With an intriguing take on the dead set in a fantabulous world built by this author and filled with demons, angels, vampires, shifters, ghosts and reapers this takes you on an amazing adventure! A great slow burn Rh romance with some awesome characters and I am very excited to see where the author takes this next!
What a great new series! I absolutely loved it. Fee is a strong main character. The story is original. I’m really looking forward to reading more in this world.
This is a completely kicking book! I loved the original take on the afterlife, purgatory, and all the rest! I loved the reaper aspect. But, boy, I did NOT see that ending coming! I loved it!
This is the first story I have read by Cassidy, but it won’t be the last. Fee is a fierce, intriguing character. She is getting a promotion, but after a fun night out she ends up a reaper, and not just any reaper, but a Dominus. Her fellow Dominous are interesting – Conah is the nice one, Mal is kind of a jerk, and Az is a little over bearing. I’m not sure how this will all work out, but I can’t wait to find out!
This is a spine-tingling goosebumpy joy ride through the paranormal. Twists and turns out of the blue. It’s a great read. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Really like the characters and they play of each well.
This is the first book in this author’s new series. It started off with a bang and continued throughout the story. Seraphina or Fee has a serious hero complex that gets her into trouble. This time it lands her in a situation where a Dominus reaper gets killed and now she is chosen to take his place. There’s lots of twists and conflict with the other Dominus reapers. Lots of hot men, even though some of them are not so nice. I’m sure there’s a reason for it all that we’ll find out in future books. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her and the others characters. I’m looking forward to the next book.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
Reaper Unexpected is the first book in the Deadside Reapers series. The story follows Seraphina/Fee as she navigates the life of a reapers while she tried not to be murdered. The story is steamy and interesting. Even better with Azazel in it, can’t wait for the twists and turns of the next book.
Amazing! hilariously funny and gory at the same time!
Loved it! i dont think debbie writes bad books at all! She always has this way with words and stories that grab you hardcore! This book had me snorting laughing and then other times left me feeling pump up from all that action! no romance.. yet but so much flirting! I know its coming and i cant wait! Its gona be explosive! The title lives up to its name, you think your human but you are far from it! Awesome dynamic, cool friendships, fun enemies and sexy a holes! Hilarious!! MUST READ!! you will love it! cant wait for the next book!
I’ve quite enjoyed this author over the years, but lately I’ve cut down on my reading quite a bit as I don’t have as much time to read. However, when this author comes out with a new book, I have to read it. And, I’m so glad I read this one. Fee is an interesting character as is all the characters, and the plot is great and a little different than normal. Let me admit now that I’m not a big fan of RH romances, but since this is a slow-burn, it doesn’t get in the way of my enjoyment of the book. I like all the men in this one, and they are worthy! LOL! This is a great addition to this author’s catalog, and I can’t wait to read more in this universe to see what is coming next. Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
