Another great addition to this slow-burn, action-driven mystery. More answers are revealed but I loved how they led to even more questions. I’m enjoying the guessing game and trying to figure out the who’s and why’s before they’re revealed. I did feel the story stalled a little in the middle but the ending was filled with fast-paced events that kept me turning the pages. The artifact search leads to an interesting new realm and the mix of paranormal characters is amazing. I have so many theories that I can’t wait for the next book (and more Charlie)!
Book 2 in this series, so definitely check out book one before this one for the full story. Entertaining story with some fun, unique ideas! Love that there’s reapers, demons, angels, and more! Some cool magical elements too!
Christina is still on the outs with the reaper council, so when this story opens she is moving to a different town and is living on her own; still nearby to where she lived, so I’m not quite sure how the council doesn’t find her. It turns out the Reaper council is willing to not kill her if she’ll work for them on finding those four magical artifacts. Of course, they don’t give her much choice when they threatened her parents and herself. There’s also more enemies out to make things difficult for Christina too; lots of shadiness and danger going on. Some good action going on too. Plus, she has a little help from Charlie too; they are finding out some new information about his sister that they want to look into, and Christina’s parents are finally acting nicer towards her. It’s nice Christina has some help, but Christina mainly works on her own; trust is difficult when people keep treating her poorly. Glad Christina is starting to realize that she should think through decisions before just helping undeserving people get super magical artifacts they could use for evil; she’s maturing which is good. Excited to continue the series and hopefully Christina will continue to grow as a character!
Reaper Of Wings by Jen L. Grey is the 2nd story in the Artifact Reaper Saga.
The story picks up where Reaper of Earth left off. Christina’s problems just keep growing. Although I enjoyed the 1st story, I think there is alot of improvement in this 2nd one with both writing style and character development.
I found myself completely caught up in the story this time and cant wait for more!
Just when you thought it couldn’t get better it did. Christina and Charlie are an amazing team and I love how their relationship is growing. there’s a lot of twists and shocking secrets in this book. And it kept me reading until I was finished in Just couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read the next in this awesome series
If you enjoyed book, you’ll want to continue the series with book 2! I’ve read a ton of books with the reapers concept, but Jen L’s Grey’s unique take is my favorite so far! One thing many readers may appreciate is that Grey’s book are clean, so while they are entertaining even for adults to read, young adults who prefer clean reads can enjoy them too. But it’s still gritty and exciting, which is what I look for in a story personally!
This book started slower than the first one but it was a great story. Christina is really coming into her own and I love how the word is growing. Great cliffhanger too!!!!
Reaper of Wings is the second book in the series. It is a must to read them order. Otherwise the reader will not understand what is going on and have too many questions to enjoy this book.
That being said: Reaper of Wings takes off where book one left us and the path of discovery continues. Without giving away any spoilers, I will say that I found myself enjoying this book more than the first but see where book one was more about starting Christina and Charlie’s journey. So excited to see where they go from here.
Expect surprises, twisted gifts, and shocking personality changes (for the good I swear). Read to discover how Christina handles her unusual gifts.
Reaper of Wings by Jen L. Grey brings us the return of Christina. This book picks up where the first one left off and her problems are not only the same but start multiplying! The earth crystal is still missing. Problem #1. The council is aware of her unique abilities. Problem #2. Now, one of the council has her at their beck and call. Can a girl not get some peace?! Problem #3. Problem #4? She’s gotta find the angel’s breath and that won’t be an easy thing. She needs a realm jumper but her usual helper…Becca…seems to be not only AWOL but something serious is going on with her. Christina definitely has her work cut out for her and things just…keep…coming!
Reaper of Wings, for me, is a definite improvement over book one. I liked book one, but I enjoyed book two more. I have to say I applaud Christina for really restraining herself with the council. Haha! I’d have snapped at them for constantly calling and say “come quick.” Plus, having the audacity to say half the time “what took you so long?” Like seriously?! LOL! There are definitely hints of romance going on between Christina and her dead best friend’s brother. It’s fun to read the interactions and reactions when people say something to them about what they themselves see.
The character development in this book is well done and I love that it comes with more than one character and in an unexpected place as well. There really isn’t anything that I don’t like about this book. I like the shifts that happen with the characters and how it all blends together. There are bits and pieces that the author leaves the reader hanging on but I’m sure that they will be addressed in the next book. My only question is…when will the next one be coming exactly? I’m eager to learn more. LOl!
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed this story, the twists, turns, and surprises that the author gives us. It definitely kept me engaged and wanting to know what was going to happen next. If you enjoyed the first book in this series then I recommend that you grab this book and get to it!
May contain spoilers
Cristina moved into her new apartment but then had to hunt for the earth stone but kept drawing blanks seeing only the angels breath she kept trying though and later on the council tells her find the angels breath or they will kill her parents so she did but they never said she had to give it to them. After she refuses to give it to them she saves her parents and go to stop her old “friend” who is in some secret organization but then finds out the elemental objects fuse, for lack of a better word, to her. Then her and her real friend Charlie are on the run trying to track the other elemental objects before anyone else. Will they successful
I think Reaper of Wings has to be the best of what I have read by Jen L Grey so far! In Book 1, Reaper of Earth, I had had some concerns about certain scene developments and the characterization of Christina’s parents. But this book did not disappointment with answering/fixing those questions/concerns and more.
I especially enjoyed the suspense and mystery this book added to the series. You learn more about the importance of the artifacts and why they are being sought after. And yet, there is still more to discover that makes me wish book 3, Reaper of Flames, was already out.
I would definitely read Reaper of Earth first, but I think that any reader of paranormal/urban fantasy fiction like Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series or watchers of the TV show Supernatural would enjoy this book.
