Larissa Ione kind of blows up the Demonica world in this one – but in the best of ways. I couldn’t put it down. It’s a wild ride from one of the best PNR authors working today.
Epic. Thrilling. Amazing. No one can suck me into a story like Larissa Ione.
Sure to become a fan favorite! Readers who’ve been anxiously awaiting Azagoth’s story are sure to be thrilled. Happy reading!
Larissa totally turns everything upside down in the Demonica world. Hold onto your seat because it’s a wild ride. There will be times you will want to scream, but I promise the ending will leave you satisfied. This story definitely leads into the opportunity for many more books to come.
strong>Don’t fear the reaper, fear the monster inside!
“I just want you to know that you’re my life,” he said. “Without you, I’m a monster.” “And what are you with me?” He gave her a rare, boyish grin, made even more playful by his mop of bedhead. “A happy monster.”
Holy shit!!!! Larissa went deep for this wrap up book from the demonica series!!! For the first time in along time I wanted to skip ahead to the end because I was so worried about how Azagoth’s story would end. I have loved this character from the beginning. Azagoth is a very complexed and has ran Sheoul-gra with a iron fist doing whatever it took from torture to spys to blackmail and he is the master of manipulation and both heaven and hell both fear him,but it has also brought him many enemies along the way.But it all changed when a smart talking beautiful Angel named Lilliana came and changed not only his world of darkness but thawed the cold dead heart of the grim reaper himself! With a baby coming and moloc vowing revenge Azagoth has his hands full! So when someone close to him poisons Lilliana and she’s kidnapped by moloc to bargain with Azagoth to set Satan free heads will f##king roll !!! And the monster that he was before lilli will be released and heaven and hell will pay for messing with the Reaper of souls!!! What a epic book and the storytelling was outstanding!!! This book ripped my heart out time and time again and had me ugly crying more then once!! But it also had me fist pumping and cheering for azagoth and the gang. I wanted a happy ending for my grim reaper and his mate. I just didn’t know that it would come with so much emotional angst and some loss. Azagoth is my favorite character from this series, hell he’s in the top five of my all time favorite characters. Can’t wait for Larissa ‘s next step into this world with next generation of warriors, children of demons and angels and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Until next time Luv’s
Azagoth rules over the underworld that houses demons before they move to Hell. His mate Lilliana and unborn child are put in danger by a traitor and kidnapped. Azagoth will do anything to save Lilliana even the unthinkable. There are so many twists, turns and surprises to this story. I loved getting to see some of the couples from the previous stories. An awesome wrap up for the series.
Larissa Ione heats things up with Reaper (Demonica Underworld #9). In this story, the Grim Reaper’s (Azagoth) pregnant mate, Lilliana, is kidnapped. When he tries to get her back all hell breaks loose. This paranormal romance is suitable for adult readers.
Reaper has become my favorite book in this series. I love that so many of the characters from the previous books played a role in this story. There were numerous twists. The story was creative and exciting throughout.
I loved reading Azagoth’s story. My heart went out to him. His history was interesting. The politics was thought provoking. Reaper is well written. Larissa Ione does an amazing job describing the details of this story. I would recommend reading the other books in this series before reading this book. Followers of the Demonica Underworld will not be disappointed. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
So the end is nigh or a least the closing curtain on this part of this fantastic saga, ready for future story-arcs to develop and my god this was amped right up to the maximum.
This was action-packed edge of your seat momentum all the way.
So this was multiples POV’s Focusing on many individuals we have come to know and love throughout this roller-coaster of a series.
It’s the ultimate pinnacle of all we have been working towards and been gradually building up to and things will definitely get worse before they can get better with all players involved being brought to play and placed on the board, each with individual specific jobs in the upcoming crap-storm heading there way.
So this story ripped my heart out and made me scream in pure denial.
I was gutted and had no clue how this was all going to be resolved with any actual satisfaction to the reader.
This also went places I never imagined it would it was fantastically epic from start to finish.
All pathways here to seemed to lead to Azagoth and Lilliana with these two being our eye of the storm if you will and Azagoth will go to any lengths necessary even battle heaven and hell itself to protect his mate and unborn child.
Azagoth has become one of my most favourite Demomica characters ever with his willingness to punish all that threaten his family with such pure single-mindedness and blinkered devotion.
Here we also get to finally realise the identity of the traitor and got to say I was so way off base with who I thought it was to say I’m shocked is an absolute understatement.
Jim Bob’s identity is also revealed and that one yep it made sense.
Finally, I loved where we finally arrived at here, we got our closure wrapping up this point of the story-arc but going forward with future generations there is so much scope and potential with how this could potentially evolve.
This is an amazing series that I highly recommend.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Reaper (Demonica Underworld, Demonica, #19).

I have always been a avid fan of the Demonica series, and this one had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I laughed, I cried, I got mad at the characters, and I think at one point I even had to set it down and take a walk because it had me so enveloped in the story.
I do recommend reading the books in order, though you can read any of them as a standalone. Azagoth’s story is one that I will never forget and one that I think any fan will too. Now there has been a Novella about him before, but this is a full-length story that fills in a lot of gaps and other information many of us were biting at the bit for.
Azagoth is a former angel, now the keeper of souls. He and his mate, Lilliana are expecting their first child, this is bound to make any new couple a hot mess, but the Grim Reaper. Well everyone better get ready. His enemies are aware of this and will stop at nothing to see him hurt and dead. Azagoth will stop at nothing to keep his new family safe.
I can’t wait for what is to come next, no spoilers, so read it to find out!!
Where do I even start? Can I just tell you that this is a must read, trust that you will just listen and leave it at that? I wish in a way that that could be the entirety of my review, JUST READ THIS BOOK, because to try and tell you all the reasons that I loved this book could last way longer than you would be willing to listen, I am certain.
Alas, I can not leave you hanging with just a READ IT, so let me just tell you a few things that are my favorite points.
1. The world building. I think that I have shouted about this for ages but honestly you have to know that the world building in the Lords of Deliverance, Demonica, and Demonica Underworld (all related) series is some of the absolute best out there in the paranormal world. I know that isn’t specific to this book itself but world building in a paranormal series and it’s continuity through out a series is huge and Larissa brings it all together making the world almost as much of it’s own character as Azagoth himself.
2. Character development. Wow, one of my favorite things about this book is the prologue. Going all the way back to the beginning of the Azagoth we now know, it puts a spin on things that you may not have seen coming. Poor Azagoth goes through so many changes, as you might expect from a character who was once an angel, then a guardian of souls, then a ‘man’ in love, a ‘man’ in pain, ‘a man’ in despair…..it goes on and on for this poor character but watching his evolution over the thousands upon thousands of years of his existence is amazing. It’s even more pronounced because when you compare him up against the Angels that are basically holding him captive he is the only one that changes, they’re all still the same a-holes they were at the dawn of time, haha. I love that we get to see some of the same in past characters as they pop up through out the story.
3. Suspense. This is huge in this book because this story isn’t just a story about Azagoth and Lilliana, no, and don’t think that it is, it is so much more. This is the story arc cumulation of the entire Demonica series, going all the way back to the Lords of Deliverance. So much happens, so many truths are told, so many lies uncovered, so many futures begun. While this story closes the chapter on one arc it opens up an entire new one and I am so ready for it.
4. Romance. Ah, the sweet sweet part of romance in paranormal romance. I loved how Larissa weaves the story of many of the ongoing relationships in this book. Again, this isn’t just the story of Azagoth and Lilliana, it is so much more and that includes seeing not only their ups and downs and the ups and downs of the other couples. Watching Azagoth’s, Eidolon’s, Shade’s, Serena’s, etc hearts break is so devastating in those moments. But what you really want to know about is the ‘steam’ right? It’s there and when it’s steamy it is so steamy your windows will fog up, but know that it is only a side part of the story and in general it weaves seamlessly into the story. I will say there was one moment of romance that through me completely off because it came out of no where, but I am not one to turn my nose up at a bit of a tumble across a ‘marshmallow floor’ (you’ll understand when you read it, ha) The most important romance in all of this (though see my point above about how it’s not what the whole story is about) though is the story of Lilliana and Azagoth. The things that are set in motion when Azagoth’s heart is broken is what fuels this story and watching this amazing character break over what happens with Lilliana will tear you up. The love that he (and she for him) has for her will set hell on fire, no pun intended. Their’s is a passionate and sweet relationship, and they play beautifully off each other, bringing out each other’s best.
5. Action. Holy baby hellions, there is so much action going on in this book. It will wrap you up right from the get go and stays strong through the entire book. It makes this a real page turner, one that you aren’t going to want to put down until you are finished because you won’t be able to stop thinking about what is about to happen when you step away.
6. Take Away. The lines are never truly black and white, there is a world of muddled color out there and while there are demons who are straight evil and angels who are glowingly good, there is a whole lot more of a mix out there so don’t always take everything at face value.
Obviously if you are a fan of the series this is a must read, so much happens and so much more is begun in this book that you can’t miss it, but trust me when I say more importantly, you don’t want to miss it. If you have not read this series, DO NOT start here. This is the end (a beginning) to an entire story arc that began all the way back with Eidolon and Tayla, in Pleasure Unbound. If you don’t want to go all the way back to book one, you could start at Azagoth, a novella that begins the story of Lilliana and Azagoth, but your enjoyment of the series will be so much higher if you take the plunge and start at the beginning. You know you are going to want to in the end anyway, lol.
Finally, I have so much more to say, there’s just so much that happens and so much to come so I am going to need you to all go and read this and then you need to get in touch with me so we can talk, I mean I need something to hold me over until the story of the kids…the kids y’all, they are coming! <3 Back to my original thought... JUST READ THIS BOOK!
OMG…OMG…OMG!!!!
Have you read a book that as you are reading it it’s so exciting that you keep putting it down and then picking it back up and continue reading it?
You know those books that get you all worked up and you feel like you are part of the story so much that you both can’t stop looking (reading) and must walk away at the same time. That’s how this book was for me. I don’t often give five stars for a book but Reaper gets five stars and then some. It’s a perfect ten!
From the second I started it I wanted no, needed to know what was going to happen. I often talk about not giving away about what happens in the story and think you should read it for yourself. Reaper is one of those cases.
I want to be carefully reviewing this one because there is so much to talk about but until you guys get to enjoy it with me I’m not ruining anything for you. So much happens. Good and bad. A ton of bad. So much of this book will rip your heart out. I do love that about Ione. She makes you feel invested in her characters. You feel like you know them personally.
Some surprises happen too.
This is a wonderful story that totally does a great job of finishing off a series that we’ve all come to love. I have to say that from the first time Azagoth showed up I knew he was the one to watch out for. Add the love of his life in danger and everyone should run. Why they thought they could mess with him through his wife and child are beyond me. They aren’t very bright. But idiots have to learn and their mistakes make for an enjoyable story for us.
As I mentioned, I have so much more to say, but will hold it in until you guys get reading. I will say that for me this series is better read in order. Characters from other books are in this one and it’s nice to already know who they are. It will make this story much richer. Do yourself a favor and start reading and don’t stop until you hit Reaper. The good news is that each of the stories is great so you’ll love them all.
Reaper is part of the Demonica Series and as such should not be read as a standalone. However, it’s book #20 in said series so for readers who haven’t read any of then you can safely start from Azagoth which is book one of the Demonica Underworld( also part of the 1001 Dark Nights) series and continue from there until Reaper.
Reaper is the culmination of all the mini plot points in most of the Demonica series. Azagoth’s origin story is tackled, how he got into Sheoul gra and how he became basically the Grim Reaper in general. This also opened up how he developed as a character thru centuries, how he was played by the Angel hierarchy and how his friends but behaves like enemies has been with him all along. Most importantly how Lilliana his partner has become his salvation and the world’s in the long run.
Long time favorite characters make important appearances sometimes part of the main plot, most as plot devices. There is devastating loses, very small wins and basically as a reader I suddenly got doubted my happy ever after. It was that twisty and angsty and good!
This is still erotica so, yes hot sex and sometimes it made the pace of the story falter but not too much because hello, demons it explains everything :)!
Did I enjoy reading Reaper and did I get satisfaction from the story and the inevitable ending? Very much so! And for the most part it feels like a goodbye for the multitude of characters that have become synonymous with that world. But I also felt that the book is opening up to an even bigger adventure and even twistier plot and I welcome that. For now I gladly say goodbye for now to one of my favorite paranormal world that has made its own niche in the genre.
Always such fun catching up with these folks! Additional fun to be had when you discover new ones! I didn’t feel lost at all-this story was a stunner! I’d suggest reading instead of listening. The narrator wasn’t my fave…but Ione’s writing is as spot-on as ever!
A compelling story of twist and turn, love and loss, humor and sarcasm all the thing I have loved about this series from the beginning. Reaper is a fitting story to bring this series full circle and I look forward to reading about the children.
He is the reaper of souls bound to the contract of Sheoul-gra. But the one person who broke through and made his heart beat is missing and he will move heaven and hell to get her back.
I am SO LOVING this read! Larissa Ione can build a world like none other. GAH! All the amazing feels!
I could not put this book down!! So much heartbreak and redemption, pain and hope, so much love. It was a wonderful way to bring this series to a close and open the door for the next generation.
Love this book, it was a rollercoaster of emotions. I cried and I was angry all at the same time. I had to keep reading, I couldnt put it down the book was that great. The characters are so amazing. Larissa keeps you wanting more. All I can say is Wow and job well done. Thank you Larissa for the outstanding book.
This book is a must read. Larissa deliveres another 5 star book. I was captured right away and could not put this down!
I spent most of the time while reading Reaper shocked, in tears, completely absorbed and completely useless to anyone else until I finished. This truly is what happens when an author puts their heart and soul into writing a book.
Everyone is in this one. Everyone. At some point every member of her amazing cast from the Demonica world touches us with their presence, and usually in an emotion-packed way. We see Reaver and Revenant, Wraith, Eidolon, Spade, Sin, Con, Gem, Kynan, Lore and of course Serena. We see Cara and Ares quite a bit, living their once peaceful life on their beautiful tropical island.
But we also see a host of angels, including archangels like Gabriel, Uriel, and Raphael. And as we’ve always suspected, they are not the most pleasant beings in the world. I’ve always found it amusing that in the Demonica world, I’d rather hang with demons than angels.
There is so much action, so much fear of turning the page. There is so much emotion jam packed into this amazing addition to the Demonica world that if you’re into her series, don’t skip this one! Yes, I had to walk away from it at one point, but my emotions overwhelmed me and I needed to take a breath. That’s the kind of writing that wins awards.
To wrap up, this one is one for the records. I love this series. Always have. But this one is definitely my number one favorite in the Demonica world. And there’s a lot more to come as Larissa Ione is starting a new series branching off from Reaper. And wow it looks like it’s going to be amazing. I can’t wait for it to come out!
Excellently done, Larissa Ione! What an amazing addition to your already amazing collection of top shelf books. Definitely 10 stars, with a bullet! Excellently done, indeed!
Oh my. What an emotional roller coaster ride this book is. I have loved all of Larissa’s books but holy cow this one has become a favorite.
Reaper is the final installment of the original Demonic series and helps set up the next generation series.
Reaper is action packed, intense, heartbreaking, steamy, has some humor and so much else that’s it’s hard to put down because you keep wanting to know what’s going to happen next.
I highly recommend this book, as well as the entire series. I cannot wait to see what comes next.
