Reality Bites by SC Wynne is a suspenseful and exciting who done it read with a M/m ronance added in. The characters are interesting and the plot entertaining. I personally didnt know who did the crime until the end of the book. Very enjoyable read
This is the first in a series though the predicted second book still hasn’t come out.
Decker is a detective in Hollywood who gets called to a death on the set of a reality TV show. Jax is the producer of that show and believes there is more to the death than the obvious. When a couple attempts are made on Jax’s life Decker realizes he’s got a real problem to solve.
The story plays like the classic detective mysteries we used to watch on TV…think Colombo or McCloud or Jessica Fletcher. There’s a finite group of suspects, several people seem to have motives, and gradually the pieces drop into place. A random comment by a secondary party sets wheels in motion. And the crisis moment gives us the denouement.
It’s a fun read with a sweet HFN ending so I’m kind of hoping we get more to see where this series can go. Another author has a series in the same vein that is enjoyable so I’d love to see Wynne make a go of this one.
5 Stars!
I loved this book to bits! It was amazing to see gruff police detective Cabot Decker’s defenses fall under the charm of Jax’s smile. They were just so different from one another, but their chemistry was off-the-charts and the progression of their relationship seemed very natural. It didn’t hurt that even if we didn’t get Jax’s POV, he was so transparent in his growing attraction for Decker that I couldn’t help feel for him and want him to win his man.
While I had an inkling of who the baddie was pretty early on, I couldn’t have imagined half the lengths they were willing to go to hurt Jax. I really liked that we were kept guessing until Ms. Wynne was ready to show us what was really going on.
I can’t tell you how happy I was when I saw that there’s another Decker/Jax book in the works! After how much I loved this one, I can’t wait to see how their relationship goes in the future. Highly recommendable!

I really enjoyed this story of a homicide detective and reality TV producer. Jax, a reality TV producer, and Decker, a homicide detective, meet when a contestant is killed while filming the show. Their chemistry sparks right from the start and I really enjoyed watching these two dance around each other and start growing closer. It’s a great mix of mystery and romance. It ends with a HFN and I can’t wait to get the continuing story on these two characters. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Love how snarky Jax was and how Decker was stoic most of the time. Was wonderful reading this. I recommend it I feel it’s a great division from her normal books.
I received an Arc for a review
Delightful murder mystery with action, suspense, romance and a great plot. I really enjoyed the concept of the story and thought the plot was well executed. The writing flowed and really kept me pulled into the story. I found the characters believable and likable. The story was creative and unpredictable with all the twists and turns. Really good read!
Jax and Decker are steamy, sweet, vulnerable at moments and their journey is engaging. i enjoyed getting to know these guys and i always find it interesting when a person is so much more than they appear.
This is book one of the Hollywood Detective Mysteries series and i am so looking forward to the next book!
I was gifted this book from the author and i freely give my honest opinion and review.
