Ordinary, typical, conformed, are words never used to describe me. I’ve never been one to play by the rules. It’s my world, my life and I do things my way.I see the way they stare at my body covered in tattoos and my lavender hair, I just don’t give a damn. There is only one thing in this world that can get me fired up, that’s screwing with my daughter. As a single mom, it’s my job to protect … job to protect her, fight for her. She is and will always be my top priority.
So, when I get a call that she’s in trouble at school, with a boy- no less, my claws are out and ready to strike. And the boy’s father, some high society stockbroker, isn’t about to deter me. I don’t care how sexy, smart and rugged he is.
Opposites may attract, and I’ve been down that road before, it’s one I never plan to travel again. A man like that would never be interested in a woman like me. That I know for certain, after all I’m a realist.

I have never read this author before but WOW I was really impressed. This is a single parents romance and really remnded me of the parent trap except the kids are 6. It was fun and HOT and I loved every moment of this story.
Mona is a single mom with tattoos everywhere and purple hair. She is a bad ass mom and I loved how there she is for her daughter, Iris. Joaquin is a sngle divorced dad of his son Max, he has no tats and is on the rich and preppie side. So the two are very opposite attracts thing.
Mona and J are very hoot for each other but they agree they have nothing in common and so its just a sexual relationship. That is until Max and Iris want more and then the adults start to get close too. This was a fun story and I loved that we get the whole story and see them even after the book has ended.
I volunteered to read an advanced review copy prior to release for my blog Addicted 2 Romance.
Mona is a single mom to a fantastic little named Iris, who has beautiful lavender hair, lots of tattoos, and owns her own tattoo shop, Sugar and Spice, Inc with her sisters. Her tiny human Iris has a best friend named Max, who she got caught kissing at school, so Mona is called to come up there, and that’s when she meets Max’s dad, Joaquin. He’s a single dad, as Max’s mom wasn’t interested in being a mom, is a successful man with money, and isn’t interested in relationships. However, when these two meet, there’s sparks, yep, sparks, Mona doesn’t want to go there since the tiny humans are best friends. But, she agrees to friends with benefits with Joaquin, and HOLY HELL! Those sexy times light the sheets on fire! However, you already know that there’s drama on the horizon from what I already said, because fate doesn’t care about people’s demons when it’s meddling in people’s lives. Then there’s were the exes, who added in some big angst, which had me full of feelings, and I wish I could tell you more. Thankfully, those tiny humans really gave me some hilarious interactions to keep me laughing as there were definitely times that I needed all the laughter to keep my eyes from leaking. And finally, there were some big twists that had me really dropping some loud f-bombs, so once again, the brilliant Evan Grace ticked off all my boxes, but there was never any doubt in my mind that she would! I’m already in love with this new series, and CANNOT WAIT for more! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This is the first book of a new series by Evan Grace. This definitely is a great start to the series. I loved all the characters, but I the kids Max and Iris!!! But seriously they were the reason that Mona and Joaquin meet. Cant wait till the next book!
Absolutely loved Realism. The characters are amazing. This books makes you want a fantastic family and the perfect one for everyone.
Loved loved loved this book. It’s one you start and can’t put down. I can already tell its going to be an amazing series. Can’t wait for the next book!
Realism by Evan Grace
5 ++++ Stars
O.M.G. I loved this so hard! What a marvelous way to start a new series!! Love the cover, love the story, love the characters. Surely didn’t want it to end!
“Definition of Realism: A style of tattooing in which tattoos are depicted as they would be seen in real life. This style focuses more heavily on shading than it does line work. One of the most common styles of realism is portraiture.”
Absolutely can not wait for the next book!
This book was everything and more that I needed. The author takes us on a journey filled with amazing characters and an awesome story of opposites attracting. I could not put this book down. I kept telling myself one more chapter. Looking forward to more books in this series.
I adored this book.
I love an unexpected Romance and when opposites attract.
Mona and Joaquin look like such an odd match Joaquin with his suits and Mona with her lavender hair and tattoos. But appearances can be so deceiving because actually they are a perfect couple, brought together by their mischievous children Iris and Max.
Both are single parents whose kids go to the same school and were caught kissing, so when they are both called to come into the school to see the principal about the incident, there is an instant attraction… An unexplainable chemistry that will spark a reluctant romance reluctant because they vowed to remain single after both having had bad relationships in the past. But you cannot prevent what is meant to be.
I completely LOVED this story.
I fell in love with these characters who wormed their way into my heart, I loved the character dynamics and the sweet, sexy captivating story that they gave me. This is a spectacular book and I am so happy that it is going to be a series.
Brilliant and I highly recommend it.
I found Realism by Evan Grace a great opposites attracts love story with the added bonus of 2 really great kids. Mona and Joaquin actually first meet when they are called into the principal’s office because their kids, Iris and Max, were caught kissing and this was a big no-no at kiddie college. From first glance there is immediate attraction, but they have both been put through the ringer by their exes so they both walk away. Unfortunately staying away is just not possible, especially since Iris and Max are best friends. The constant contact made them both realize the attraction was not going to go away so decided on the friends with benefits route. This too did not last too long, the chemistry was just too strong.
As much as I loved this story, Joaquin’s conflict in the beginning regarding Mona was a bit hard to take. He knew the way people reacted to her, he saw it with the principal the first time they met, so some of the reactions he had or some of the things he said rubbed me the wrong way. The back and forth, I was not too keen on. But once they both let go of what was keeping them apart they were great together.
What I really enjoyed, besides their eventual happily ever after, was what they brought to the other’s child. Joaquin was just amazing with little Iris, and Mona was just as wonderful to little Max. They became such a beautiful family.
Overall, a really great love story.
Mona has a creative soul and it shows through both on her body and in her art. She has been judged by others her whole life, but she isn’t about to let their opinions change who she is or hurt her daughter. She is independent and the only people she needs are her siblings and she especially doesn’t need a man who can’t accept her for who she is.
Joaquin is a successful stockbroker and not only looks but acts the part. When he is called to his son Max’s school along with Mona, Max’s best friend Iris’s mom, he is drawn to her even though he knows that they are completely wrong for each other.
This is a story about family, love and new beginnings. Mona and Joaquin couldn’t be more different or more perfect together. The secondary characters are great, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
When you just can’t put the book down you know you have found a winner,
Mona is a single mom who is a tattoo artist, with the help of her family she is able to do what she loves and raise her little girl with them. Iris is a amazing girl who has found a best friend over the summer, Max he is just the cutest little man, the two become inseparable, they get into trouble when they are found kissing in the bathroom. Joaquin is a single father also trying his best to raise his boy to become the man he is. i love that this is an opposites attract book that shows even when two people are different they can make things work. The chemistry the two have is unreal and hot…. I really am looking forward to more in this series.
Wow!! This love story was beautiful! This is so much more than an opposites attract storyline. Mona & Joaquin have both been hurt in different ways. They haven’t went further than the occasional hookup, but when they meet the sparks begin to fly. The chemistry is so hot, that it could almost melt the pages of the book. I’m a sucker for a single parent story, but because they are each single parents they both think of their kids 1st. The push, pull & yes the guy opens his mouth & something stupid falls out. So much hope, laughter & steaminess wrapped up in such a beautiful story. These characters made me fall in love with them; the kids, the closeness of the sisters has me wanting the next book now. I highly recommend this book. Told in dual POV.
Opposites Ignite
A fantastic new series from Evan Grace! Realism has the hotness, the heat, the pain and the pleasure. It was a one sit read for me. Couldn’t put it down.
Purple hair & tats vs. suits & money. From the outside Mona and Joaquin don’t look like they have anything in common but dig a little deeper and the similarities run deep. Single parents lead a difficult life. Add in the stress of the other parent, jobs and a new non-relationship and you’ve entered they cyclone better known as their life. Feelings begin and attachments are formed. Fear of the past can ruin the future before it’s even started.
This was a fantastic story and a great ride. A definite one-click that you’ll be glad you picked up. I’m ready for the next installment in the great new series!
Evan Grace delivers a story that holds you captivated from first page till last. Opposites attract when Joaquin and Mona meet at their kids school, both are single parents neither are looking for a relationship. What happens next is one of best reads you will pick up this year, a host of secondary characters that I for one I’m looking forward to reading more of.
This is a wonderful story! It’s the beginning of a new series and I am hooked already! Mona is not your typical heroine. She owns a tattoo shop with her sisters and looks the part. Joaquin is a stock broker. Both are single parents and that is how they meet. I really enjoyed the two of them together. I am looking forward to reading about the rest of the family.
Thank you for the privilege if reading this book! Excellent job
I always get excited when starting a new series by an author I love. I dove in without even reading the blurb. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was a double single parent story!!!!
Mona and Joaquin meet when their children get up to mischief at school….and the rest is history. These characters may look like they don’t fit, but somehow they do. Mona a is a great example of why you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. I found this story to play out beautifully. The pace was great as were all the characters. I loved the support system that Mona had around her. I could definitely picture some of the scenes being played out, especially the how-to-video…ovaries go boom!
Highly recommend this story to all romance read lovers, but especially to those of you that love single parent stories.
Format: Kindle Edition
Single parent tropes are a absolute favorite of mine and Evan Grace did not disappoint. Mona is a single mom to a spunky 6 year old little girl, a tattoo shop owner with her sisters and a lot of personality as her lavender hair speaks for itself lol. Joaquin is a born into money investment banker who’s got a 6 year old little boy who will melt your heart. These two are first introduced when they are called to the school to meet with the principal about their children , who are best friends , are caught kissing. “Juaq” fights his feelings for Mona and they fall into a friend w/ benefits partnership ( because we all know how those their out ). Throw in a parent who’s been non-existent since the beginning and a whole gaggle of siblings and we have ourselves the right amount of drama to keep us on the edge !!! Do yourself a favor and grab this book to see how this plays out you won’t be disappointed!!! Another job well done EG !!!
Exciting new series
I was super excited about the Sugar and Spice, Ink series and boy did it live up to the hype. To me a really good or great single parent romance must meet certain criterion: 1. the child must have some personality, 2: the single parent must be a good parent, 3. the person coming into the single parent’s life must genuinely care or love the child, 4. moments where the child says something with childlike innocence. This book has everyone of those things. I think what I loved the most about this book is that both Mona and Joaquin are both single parents that aren’t looking for a relationship, they just want to be the best parent that they can be. I love Iris and Max, the friendship between those two is refreshing, and I loved every moment that they had in the book. There are so many side characters that I’m hoping will get a book because I dying to read more about them .
I absolutely loved reading Mona and Joaquin’s love story.
Fantastic characters. A well thought and written book. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Their family in future books.
Joaquin and Mona seem to be polar opposites, but life, love, and their respective children being them together in one of the best single-parent stories I’ve read so far!
Mona knows that people judge her in an instant, but she doesn’t let it dim her creative genius, nor does she let it impact her daughter. So what if her daughter’s dad is a jerk who bailed the second the stick turned pink? She and her siblings have given her daughter all the love a little girl could possibly need to thrive in life. She doesn’t need a man, even if her daughter’s best friend’s dad DOES intrigue her like no other man before.
Joaquin is a single father and also knows that people judge him. He’s successful, completely in charge of his own life, and can’t seem to get the colorfully beautiful mother of his son’s best friend out of his thoughts or heart. He fights his attraction for a short time, then realizes that he’s only hurting everyone by denying himself the possibility of something great with Mona and her daughter, so he jumps in with both feet to try and make a life together work.
These two have a beautiful road from strangers to friends to family, and neither of them lets the opinions of outside parties diminish their love for each other. Joaquin is everything that Mona and her daughter need, while Mona is everything that Joaquin and his son need, as well. I loved knowing that neither of them would back down and that they would both do anything in their power to make the others in their lives happy and safe. Overall, this was a beautiful story about love and how it can grow at the most unexpected time. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series!
