A favorite book of mine! Well written, engaging, and the hero is a heartthrob.
Looking for a jealous, possessive hero? No look further than Remington Tate. Yum! This is one of the first fighter romances I was introduced to and I fell in love with the genre. Their love story always sticks out in my mind of favorites!
How can you not falling in love with Remington Tate? a ruffed rugged Man who has so many layer of mystery… I constantly feeling of high adrenaline… This series are deeper… alpha male with crazy way to love someone… You need to read Real… this story wont let you down 🙂
One of my new favorite authors and go-to, sexy romances. This tops my list as one of my very *favorite* series. Period. LOVE REMY!!!!! #BookBoyfriend
I read this one 4 years ago and to this day, I can still remember everything about it. Man, such a great book!
Wholy s***-balls LOVED this book, Remy you sexy big piece of hunka-hunka burning love I FREAKIN’ LOVE YOU!! ALrighty Brooke you girl are something else, “we telepathically communicated, and he says he wants to take me home to be the mother of his sexy babies.” Brooke she’s a great friend and gives it to ya straight, “Melanie, right now you think McDonald’s is hot, and you barfed when you saw supersize me and have banned it ever since. Your breath smells like vodka and quarter pounder.” The one thing you have to know about Mr. Remy is that the boy is possessive or protective or both when it comes to Brooke, “for the love of effing god, don’t ever, ever, do that again. EVER. If one of them sets a hand on you, I’ll effing kill them, and I won’t give a rat’s eff who watches me!” He does whatever it takes to make it right in Brooke’s eyes, “next time I’m on the ring, I’m going to effing win for her, and I want all of you who hurt her tonight to bring her a red rose and tell her it’s from me!” Remy I love you and that is all!
One of the Best Series I’ve ever Read
Love, love, love me some Remington Tate!
New Adult | Boxing (Sports) Romance
I picked up Real by Katy Evans because a fellow book reviewer on Instagram highly recommended this one to me. Normally I get nervous to read books based on friend’s recommendation because I feel like they don’t live up to my expectations. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case here. The chemistry between Remy and Brooke is off the charts! I was reeling from the intensity of this gorgeous love story and I’m still thinking about it now even though I finished it hours ago. This book is blazing hot! The love songs, the way these two easily fell into one another, and the raw pieces of Remy that he hides because he doesn’t want her to think different of him had me GASPING! I love when we get characters who are battling their own demons, and this is exactly what we get here. I totally understand why so many readers fell in love with this story and I (for the most part) feel the exact same way.
I think one of my only issues is the language in this book. I’m not talking about swearing either… Brooke’s character talked a little too “proper” for me and it didn’t fit well with who she was. I think this has to do with the fact that it’s the authors debut novel and the words didn’t flow as easily as a seasoned pro would. Things like “I do not like that you did this” is how much of the story sounded, and it didn’t feel like it flowed well because of it. Also, how many times can a character say “Please make love to me” at the tender age of 24? I expect this from an older couple, not a younger one. She said it so many times too that it made me feel all cringy.
Everything else about this book was beautiful though and I immediately picked up the next two because I want to see what happens next. Don’t worry, this one doesn’t end in a cliffhanger, it’s just that their story doesn’t end here. I look forward to reading it next!

I loved this book. I’ve had it on my bookshelf for years and never read it. Now that I have I’m angry at myself for waiting so long.
Remy is everything! Strong, protective, and fierce.
Brooke is amazing. Sweet and understanding.
Put them together and you get a great romance as long as Remy’s secret doesn’t ruin it. So much to fight for.
On to the next book in the series.
Who couldn’t love a man like Remington “Riptide” Tate? He has a hard time expressing himself, so he talks through music. After everything that he has went through since he was a child, he is still one of the most lovable bbf ever. He’ll make your heart race, your heart break into pieces and you’ll just want to hug him and help him through it. He’ll make you smile and he’ll make you cry. You’ll want to show him he’s loved. The things that he does to make it easier for Brooke is crazy. He’ll do anything for the woman that he loves.
Brooke and Remy’s chemistry is off the charts in this book. She’s just want he wanted but never believed he could have. The lengths that he goes to, to have her near and touching him makes you want to rub your heart cause it tears you up inside. She’s a strong woman in her own right but Remy makes her stronger.
This is the second time I’ve read this series and it still got to me. There were things I had forgotten about and I had the awww moments. There were parts that still made me mad for their circumstances. I’ve now read this book three times!
Totally love this series <3
I’ve been recommended this book what feels like 1,000 times so I decided to give it a go.
It started out great; I loved the boxing, the tension between Brooke and Remy, I enjoyed Remy and his possessiveness and even enjoyed Brook in her new role. I even geek out a bit when the author went overly technical explaining physical preformance. She also did a decent job at showing bipolar disorder. End the end, I enjoyed all the aspects of the story indvidually but together it fell sort of flat for me.

What really dissapointed me in this story was the ending. Without spoiling too much the story I will say the agnst/trouble/problem was Brooke and her actions, not Remy and to make him out to be the bad guy, to make him chase her, apologise to her… yeah, totally lost me there. I don’t know if I will read any more of these stories.

Overall – 4.5 stars! This story had the right mix of everything for me.
Performances – 5 stars!
Charlotte Penfield was great. I really loved her narrating style especially how she did the fight announcements.
Story – 4 stars!
This is a layered sports romance with great character and story development balanced perfectly. I liked how the author slowly revealed what Remy’s real condition was. I had no idea until she did so.
Not being a true boxing fan in real life, I was really surprised by how much I genuinely enjoyed learning more about this sport via Remy’s career. It was interesting to see how Remy’s intense and extensive training and his medical condition impacted his ability to have more meaningful relationships with the opposite sex. When he spotted Brooke in the crowd at one of his matches and decided to pursue her, it was truly a game changing moment unbeknownst to them both.
I also liked that Brooke went from being an Olympic hopeful to helping athletes via sports medicine. Both of their careers seemed complex but fascinating. Learning of Remy’s sad history with his parents was kind of a shock, but I was impressed that he created his own family with his team around him. Brooke became his family as well, and she became vital to his future success in the ring.
Final Thought:
This first novel of three was an excellent beginning and left me feeling that I had experienced an entire journey with Brooke and Remy. I actually had no idea it was a 3-book interconnected series when I got the Chirp sale alert for Real, but I’ll definitely continue this series via audiobook.

How can you not love REMY? He’s a lovely book boyfriends
Absolutely loved this book. Soo much passion, chemistry, love. It kept me going; wanting more. Great!
I cant tell you how long I’ve had this paperback. I had heard all the hubbub. I knew I’d eventually read it. I had heard everyone fawning all over Remington Tate but i had no idea.
i can honestly say #TeamRemy! Through thick and thin, despite the coffee table chick, I am Team Riptide all the way. The quick burn of their chemistry but the enlogated “courtship” makes this book filled with tension and feels.
But true feelings and utter heartbreak are also in these “pages”. (I know I keep referring to the paperback terminology but honestly if I had to wait for free time to read it- it would still only be on my TBR.
its wonderfully written and well narrated. I just bought book 2 audiobook despite having the book.
I challenge anyone who decides to read this sexy, contemporary romance not to fall in love with Remington Tate. Misunderstood, with a bad-boy reputation, his championship boxing skills, and his well-built body have made him a star in the world of underground boxing. Although kind and generous, Remy struggles with bipolar depression. His dark side often causing havoc, he desires a genuine relationship that is truly real. When he spots a beautiful, mahogany haired woman in the crowd, he is immediately drawn to her and senses she could be his “real.”
Brook Dumas hadn’t expected to have a sweat-soaked boxer jump from the ring to pursue her. Especially, a handsome sought after champion like Remington Tate. Their chemistry instantaneous, she accepts a position as his personal physical therapist. A job the recent college graduate hadn’t realized would change her life.
If you like raw, dark, intense and sensuous, then you should read Real. It’s the first book in The Real series written by Katy Evans.
Happy reading!
iF you want a real hot & sexy love story, then this is it! OMG Remington Tate blows all other BBF out of the water. There is something so sexy about this man that it’s hard to describe. Brooke had once had hopes to be in the Olympics but after tearing her ACL during the tryouts, her dreams are dashed. She now works in the sports rehab field. Remington is an underground boxer and after seeing Brooke in the crowd one night he proceeds to leave the ring, find her & kiss her. Seriously 3% into the book & already I was in love with Remington. When she’s invited to his hotel suite she is really considering a one night stand but is surprised when she is offered a job. This book is full of sexual tension BUT the payoff is well worth it. I never thought that two people not having sex could be so HOT! Many of Remy’s entourage keep trying to warn Brooke not to get involved with him but she doesn’t understand why. They start to build a relationship and communicate through playing each other music (loved this unique twist, since music has always been a huge part of my life) and she seems to see a side of him that no one else does. She begins to see what they are talking about and knows that he has some emotional issues. Even though Brooke wants to go further with him, he will not allow it until she knows all about him. When he tells her about his “secret” he wonders if she’ll be able to stand by his side. I cannot express how much I absolutely love this book! A MUST MUST MUST read!!
I’m now officially a huge fan of Katy Evans. Loved REAL and especially Remy. What a strong and flawed hero. I can’t get enough of him. And Brooke is such a strong heroine. She knows what she wants and go after it. Their connection and chemistry is what makes this book. The writing is once again sublime.
Proper review to come soon, I wasn’t reviewing when I read this book.
