Publishers Weekly Bestselling author and Kindle Unlimited All Star, Christy Barritt, brings readers a fun new series that will have fans trying to solve a mystery and laughing out loud.I’m not really a private detective. I just play one on TV.Joey Darling, better known to the world as Raven Remington, detective extraordinaire, is trying to separate herself from her invincible alter ego. She … alter ego. She played the spunky character for five years on the hit TV show Relentless, which catapulted her to fame and into the role of Hollywood’s sweetheart.
When her marriage falls apart, her finances dwindle to nothing, and her father disappears, Joey finds herself on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, trying to piece her life back together away from the limelight. A woman finds Raven—er, Joey—and insists on hiring her fictional counterpart to find a missing boyfriend. When someone begins staging crime scenes to match an episode of Relentless, Joey has no choice but to get involved.
Joey’s bumbling sleuthing abilities have her butting heads with Detective Jackson Sullivan and kindling sparks with thrill-seeking neighbor Zane Oakley. Can Joey channel her inner Raven and unearth whodunit before she ends up totally done in? And where is her father anyway? Can she handle fame, or is disappearing into obscurity the wiser option?

Fact and fiction are starting to blur…
Another winner from one of my all-time favorite mystery/romantic suspense authors! You absolutely cannot go wrong in choosing any Christy Barritt book to read. Every time I read one it quickly becomes my new favorite and, of course, Ready To Fumble fell right into my usual pattern.
Joey is such a quirky and flawed character that you can’t help but like her. While most of us aren’t movie-star gorgeous like she is, we can still relate to the fact that her life isn’t pristine and perfect, in fact, it’s a mess.
Christy Barritt has a real knack for penning zany characters who find themselves in some pretty wacky and even dangerous situations. Murder has truly never been so much fun…at least for readers…
Ready To Fumble is a wonderful start to a new mystery series from one of Christian fiction’s most talented authors. It’s a book, and a series, that you won’t want to miss!
(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)
The mystery was interesting and kept me guessing. There is a bit of a cliff hanger to entice you to buy the next book, but the main story was complete, so it didn’t bother me as much as most of them.
This is more secular than most of Christy Barritt’s books, so if you’re looking for a deep Christian theme, you’re not likely to find it in this novel. If you enjoy a light cozy mystery read with a love triangle… this one is for you.
I love, Love, LOVE any book Christy Barrett writes!!!!! Had to read other books, that’s how much I love her books. Got my bestie into them too.
The first book in the series was the best. This disappointed me but was still interesting.
This new series by popular author Christy Barritt begins with excitement and suspense, and maintains this throughout the novel. Vulnerable Joey Darling, who portrayed a successful TV detective, is assumed to carry her on-air skills into real life. When presented with a mystery, she’s forced to get involved, plus she’s trying to find out what happened to her missing father. There are plenty of elements to draw readers in and sustain their interest. The quirky characters leap off the page and drag you along on their adventures. I’m amazed how the prolific author can create such a variety of tales and cast the stories with unique individuals. I eagerly await the next installment of The Worst Detective Ever (although I think that title could be inaccurate). Nice these new books are scheduled to come out three months in a row. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
This is part of a great series by Christy Barritt! I love Joey’s character and the supporting characters. She is spunky and fun and oh-so-relatable! Her bumbling makes the books fun while the over-arching storyline is a page turner. I love the light, cozy mystery. Well written characters and storyline!
This author is awesome! I read two sets of her books… These are so funny, witty, characters are warm and awesome!
On your mark, get set for this new series by Christy Barritt. Fall in laugh and like with former TV detective, Joey Darling. Unfortunately, “darling” does not describe her off-screen reality. Far from confident in her new town, Joey is shoved into actual investigations which put her at odds with police roadblock, Jackson Sullivan. Then there’s quirky surfer dude neighbor, Zane Oakley, as eager sidekick. You’ll cheer encouragement as Joey seeks to reinvent herself. Meanwhile, others demand she be character Raven Remington of her former show. What’s a girl to do? Enjoy the delightful beginning in Ready to Fumble.
This is a humorous book about a girl who is one of the world’s most bumbling detectives. Just an enormously fun book to read.
I like these books. Easy and fun to read, yet have enough depth to not just be just fluff.
I have enjoyed reading all of this authors books. Good, light, and entertaining. Definitely recommend for lovers of cozy mysteries.
This is easy to read, funny, a good mystery, and page turner.
Clean cozy mystery
Did not like the cliff hanger ending.
Christy Barrett has become one of my favorites
Enjoyed reading. Thank you
This whole series is lots of fun. The plot moves quickly, and the stories entertain.
Very enjoyable. A relaxing read.
The author delivers on the main part of the jacket blurb: the protagonist is inept. Unfortunately, she’s neither endearingly funny nor delightfully lucky. She’s a danger to those she cares about and should hang her head in shame — even the actress portraying a super-sleuth should be able to avoid some of the asinine mistakes she makes. Don’t waste your time, it doesn’t get better.
