I have read the first three novels in this set. Below are my separate reviews. The stars above are based on the series as a whole.
Kidnapped With A Knight
This was such a welcome change from the ever present Rake and Wallflower tropes I see so often. The story was different. Edmund came from aristocracy, Molly from the streets, but the two find themselves on common ground. The story takes place somewhere other than the frequents of the ton. It has a gritty background and a turbulent and passionate love story.
This was a novella, but the story was well developed. I was invested in the characters, they had depth and emotion. The plot was fast paced and caught my attention from the very start. The attraction between the two was arresting. It was passionate and romantic. One of the better novellas I have read.
I will definitely read the rest of this series. It was a romantic love story that captured my interest.
Lost With A Lord
This is a romantic novella about two lonely people who discover love at first sight in the most peculiar of places. Lord George is a lost, lonely soul. Florence is far from everything she knows. Their encounter is electric. George’s sadness and loneliness is so heartfelt. The feeling of being utterly alone is horrible, and it is depicted vividly. Florence is feisty and has a short temper!
This is a very well told novella. The plot was intricate and fast paced. It had romance and passion. It was focused on the two main characters the whole time and the development of that relationship was spot on.
I am really enjoying this novella series, if you want a quick, fun, romantic read this book is for you!
Drenched With A Duke
A lovely tale of unlikely love.
This is the love story of Alexander, Duke of Caershire and Teresa Metcalfe. Alexander’s past decisions has made him a pariah in the ton. Teresa’s desperate situation has turned her into a courtesan. They meet through extraordinary circumstances.
This is an unlikely match, but it works within the story. Like the other novellas in this series, the story is character centered. The story was passionate and entertaining. The pace was fast. The plot was a little fantastical but very romantic.
Although not my favorite in the series, I enjoyed this short, easy read novella. It got to the point quickly and was well developed. Another good installment. I will definitely continue reading this series.
Ravishing Regencies: The Complete Series: A Steamy Regency Romance Boxset a well written set that I enjoyed reading, One of the stories in this set is Lost with a Lord book one in the Ravishing Regencies series. Lord George Northmere and Italian Miss Florence Capri’s story was a fun read what a way to meet! I enjoyed reading this story. I have only read a couple of stories in this set at this time, but I will be reading the rest of this set.
ONE INCREDIBLY DELIGHTFUL TREAT!!!
Bad to the bone! Emily pulled out all the stops with this impressive collection that doesn’t disappoint. Busting loose, squeezing hard and breaking through while all the chaos, shenanigans and mayhem run amuck blazing this jewel together piece by jagged piece. Heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, mind blowing, chart topping, block busting masterpiece that hooks you from the start and reels you in for the duration. Drama, a intrigue, skepticism, speculations, intrigue and suspense engage all of your senses while a slew of plot twists and sharp turns run rampant propelling this treasure to life flawlessly. Hurdling trials and tribulations along with a few bumps and bruises send this little gem skyrocketing. The characters and their on point personalities are authentic, original and realistic with depth and qualities it feels as though you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are graphically detailed and descriptive making it easy to picture each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Fantastic job Emily, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
I’m a huge fan of Regency Period romances when they’re told well and are period appropriate (after all, why even set a story in a Period if it’s not going to be period appropriate?). Emily Murdoch’d Ravishing Regencies far exceeds that test. I’ve read (and separately reviewed) each of these stories and they are all wonderfully told and beautiful romances. As a collection this is a total steal. Definitely easy to recommend.
LOST WITH A LORD:
A very sweet and touching romance between Miss Florence Capria and Lord George Northmere. I loved the fact that even though they were ensconced in a dank room for shelter, running from a mob that was fighting on the docks, they managed to reach out to each other and bared their souls. It was touching how they confided in each other their honest feeling and their pasts. It was easy to identify with the characters as everyone I know has felt lost or lonely at least one time in their lives. A wonderful romance and I recommend it.
DRENCHED WITH A DUKE:
I received an Audible copy of this book from the author. So I got to listen as I read along. It made for a more interesting experience. I loved the overall romance of this story. A hero rescues a young woman from drowning and they both come to find respite in each other. A very sweet story. I feel the narration would have been more effective if there had been both a male and female. This does not take long. I is a short story and is moderately paced. The love scenes were sensual and passionate. Very dreamy. The conversation honest and from the heart. I liked it.
MAROONED WITH A MARQUESS:
This is a quick and sweet read. It is a very sexy romance between Miss Adena Garland and Lord Luke Northmere, the Marquis of Dewsbury, the heir to the Duke of Northmere. Adena finds herself in a predicament she tries to get out of by herself. Luke finds her and rescues her from her own foolishness. At this point, Luke decides to keep a secret from Adena so he can spend more time with her. As they get to know each other they become enamored with each other. They spend the night enraptured with each other. In the morning, Adena does not hear from Luke any more of his amorous declarations and is heartbroken. She makes assumptions, he makes assumptions and everything gets messed up. When Adena finds out about the secret Luke harbored, she is furious and runs away from him. She returns to her friend’s home. Luke does not know where she is staying and has no way to contact her. He speaks to his good friend and gets some clever advice. Luke acts on it. When Adena become aware of it, she is touched and hope rekindles in her heart. Do they have a chance at lifelong happiness? I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
VOYAGE WITH A VISCOUNT:
And here I thought “A Voyage With A Viscount” would be set on the wide blue sea. Imagine my surprise when I read that it was about two people thrown together by extenuating circumstances and find love while traveling together by coach. I really liked the characters. They had plenty of hutzpah, wit, passion and desire. Their personalities were unique and interesting. I enjoyed reading this book. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
EMIGRATING WITH AN EARL:
For a very quick read, it had everything that was needed in a regency romance. This definitely deserves a five-star rating. It is so well written even with the few characters in the story, it was beautiful, intense, fantastical, surprising and romantic. I loved the characters, so realistic, real feelings, real emotions. The author put into words how they felt and what that looked like on their face. Their actions and reactions were imaginative and down to earth. If you are looking for a feel-good read, I totally recommend this book. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
These are eight hot stories. I have read four of them and I am looking forward to reading the rest.
Lost With a Lord
I love this cover. It is very striking. The story was well written to a point, but the ending did not finish with acceptability of society. The only good point is the fourth son doesn’t have all the social rules applied to him for marriage that is required for the first born. Florence is a spitfire and knows what she wants, that she wants George to want her to stay. She expects George to act like an Italian and George expects her to understand his English ways. Why do people forget that love is a two way communication? This story is great for an afternoon read.
Drenched With A Duke
This is a delightful and steamy novel. Between saving a woman from drowning and secrets told between. Alexander must determine if restoring his lost reputation is more important than loving a woman of the night. I enjoyed this story and read it from start to finish in one sitting.
Shipwrecked With A Suitor
This is a delightful tale of two people who find themselves thrown together by a war across the channel. I loved Helena right off, but Pierre had to grow on me, because he is typical of the French nobility. He only thought about himself and how he felt, never about Helena and he used Helena’s feelings. He just up and left with his friend, because he preferred his luxury to what Helena had to offer. Emily Murdoch captured the attitude of the French nobility perfectly. It took a lot for me to actually to like Pierre because I hate charming men. It is their narcissism and arrogance that makes them unappealing. This story is perfect for an afternoon read.
Catastrophe with a Count
This little romp is exactly as named. The only good thing about the story is that it is in the West Indies. Everything that happens here is beyond the ideals of society. The characters are likeable, but these two deserve to lose each other at the end of this story, even though they do not.
I previously read and reviewed all of these books and have thoroughly enjoyed this Regency boxset. Each book is a novelette, romantic and a standalone.
Lost with a Lord: It’s all about mistaken identities and potentially lost opportunities. When Lord George’s brother arranges an alliance with a lady of the night for his brother, Lord George finds himself in a very awkward situation indeed. Firstly he is in one of the worst areas of the London docks and secondly, there is no young lady…… until there is. Only the young lady is not whom he thought she was and she gives him a strong scolding for thinking otherwise. There is humour and some danger in this story, but it is ultimately Miss Florence Capria who takes the reins in her hands and takes up the challenge.
Drenched with a Duke: In this very different Regency romance, Alexander Caershire discovers that making sacrifices for his family comes with a price. He is furious at society’s rejection of him, but in that catalytic moment, he finds so much more worth living for. When a young woman is pushed into the Thames River, Alexander is close enough to rescue her, and once again has to question the value of his reputation. Although this story takes place across the great divide, love cannot be denied and when Alexander realises that he doesn’t have anything to lose, he experiences the kind of relief that only a person living under a cloud can feel. Whether he can persuade Teresa that she can be part of his future is another question altogether. The story is generally well written and although it does not follow the pattern of other books by the author, it is nevertheless enjoyable.
Shipwrecked with a Suitor: From the opening sentence of this novella, the reader’s attention is grabbed as Pierre d’Épiluçon battles for his life on a storm-swept sea. The last thing he expected was to be half-conscious on a British beach with a beautiful woman struggling to move him. Although Helena is a fisherman’s daughter, she does come from a good background and finds herself caught in a difficult situation whilst tending to the shipwrecked French nobleman. The story is gentle, depicting the differences between the couple’s backgrounds, and ultimately leading to pain and disappointment. The situation is not helped when Pierre’s opinionated friend discovers Pierre in the rundown cottage and Helena is left with a sense of loss. The story is well-written and touches on the difficulties experienced both by Pierre fleeing his native country and Helena caught in poverty, not of her own making.
Marooned with a Marquis: There are times when the unexpected events in life bring about new and exciting possibilities, as Luke, the Marquis of Dewesbery discovered when Miss Garland stepped onto his island. Caught by the tide, Adena finds that she has no way back to the mainland and when she is seemingly rescued by a stranger, all her feistiness comes to the fore. Luke is fascinated by the fiery redhead and before long, he is rethinking his stance on love, relationships, and marriage. This is a well-written and lighthearted Regency romance.
Voyage with a Viscount: An elopement gone wrong and a Viscount suffering from a severe dose of ennui, combined with rainy English weather, conspire to bring an unlikely couple together. Rowena, wanting to escape her parents’ machinations, elopes with a young man who ultimately gets cold feet. Finding herself stranded, she accepts Viscount Paendly’s offer of transport back to her home. Feeling completely out of her depth with the stranger she is traveling with and knowing the censure she will receive on her return home, Rowena is less than friendly towards James. The Viscount, however, is having more entertainment than he has experienced for some time. Refusing to give up on drawing Rowena out, she eventually succumbs to his charm, with unexpected results. Rowena was not an entirely likable character to start with, but as she lets go of her prickly demeanor, she begins to show her sense of humour. James, on the other hand, was entertaining from beginning to end.
Beached with a Baronet: When Chloe Vaughn was created, she was definitely one of a kind. Her inquiring mind not only annoys the men of the tonne but leaves her mother and chaperone in despair. It also takes her in directions she doesn’t expect to go, resulting in her being beached in the middle of a storm, dead at night. Making her way to the nearest estate, she demands entrance, even though her host is far from accommodating and wishes her gone. Once again her inquisitiveness leads her to make statements and ask questions that surprise the reclusive Baron Wandorne and after a year of brokenness, he finds his interest piqued. Despite Moses’ misgivings, he finds a connection with Chloe that he never thought possible, that is until a surprise visitor arrives and throws a spanner in the works. This novel is intriguing, kept my interest all the way through and left me smiling as the bluestocking challenges Moses to set aside his preconceived ideas.
Catastrophe with a Count: This quick, lighthearted read is entertaining. Count Anthony of Stratham seems to struggle with being honourable, although one can sympathise with his loss. The story ended on a slightly odd, but humourous note and it would appear that Anthony and his adversary’s daughter managed to resolve their differences.
Emigrating with an Earl: With a race against time, Samuel, Earl of Kincardine, boards a vessel for France, hoping to avoid the impending disaster that is about to befall him. Despite her poor dress and timid manner, Samuel decides that the best way in which to cover his tracks is to marry the little mouse he observed on the docks. He is surprised, however, when she shows more gumption than he originally thought and discovers that under her disguise of companion, there is actually a beauty with the capacity for passion. When the truth emerges, Margaret feels angry and betrayed, but support comes from an unusual source. The story is romantic and despite the suspense hanging over them, they do make a beautiful couple. One cannot help but applaud Margaret’s stance and her ability to take control of her life, but at the same time, I could have given Samuel a shaking for even considering she was so desperate for love that she would ignore the pending problems.
All the books in this boxset are generally well written and come to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this boxset as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
