A good fantasy book, but a little slow moving at times.
Spellbinding adventure!
It took me a few chapters to get all the characters sorted out but once I did I devoured the story. I read both books without stopping. There is good paranormal action, over-the-top intrigue, mysterious subplots and backstories, and some interesting battles. It is well-written and an engrossing plot.
This book was incredibly boring. The characters were not developed enough for you to stay connected with them and then one of the main characters was a whiny-know-it-all. I don’t like those in real life, why would I want him to be the hero of the story? Honestly put this book down and won’t be finishing it.
Made it to my very small dnf pile.
A fare read
This story follows a group thrown together by circumstance who over time become good friends out on an adventure for a common cause.
Kariayla, a young lady with wings who was exiled from her homeland for a murder she doesn’t remember, Jinx a human thief with apparent bad luck, Arcturus, another outcast from his homeland. They fall in with another called Hawkwing who has his own secrets and is taking them to meet a wizard named William in a land only he can find. They share a lot of adventures, distrust, and learning about themselves and each other on their journey to find artifacts of unknown power to stop those who wish to misuse them. Very well told story and a very good read.
I enjoyed this series of books and am looking forward to getting into the next one
Jinx is a twenty year old street thief who, if caught again, will lose his hand. Ruby is a mute elf adopted by Jinx. Kariayla is a slave in Belorn who had been cast out of her homeland for killing a man who raped her. Arcturus, a 437 year old Mankarian, was exiled from his homeland 187 years ago and longs to return. Hawkwing, who travels all over the world, has a legendary reputation as a mapmaker but also a shadow existence as an undercover agent. This disparate group unites to find the Priagent Raksish hoping to retrieve the Ravenstone and prevent the end of the world. Jinx is illiterate and Arcturus is a scholar; only Hawkwing is well traveled. Many, many challenges face the group, and their characters are well developed by both conversations and their actions in the face of crises. This two volume set is an awesome fantasy.
I quickly came to really care about these characters, each of whom had unique gifts and characteristics. A saga is a very long story, and I enjoyed the whole thing.
Great characters; some flaws but dreaming of being more than they are. Plot is rich in detail.
A grand quest in the vein of the “Wheel of Time” series. Unique species and talents. I’ve read extensively and appreciate originality.
A great book of sword and sorcery

These books have something for everyone. The characters were a span of emotionality. They learned and developed as the story progresses. Just epic storytelling

I love the characters, can’t wait to finish it.
