With its predecessor, this is one of the best stories of a marriage and a family, in a world with its issues, I have ever read.
Writing is excellent, and the story moves along.
Any book by this author is great
I love this series. Imaginative, well written, interesting characters that I care about. And a grand adventure.
Really good, but not one of Patricia Briggs’ best. I can usually juggle multiple characters in my head but this time there were so many I found myself having to backtrack to figure out who was who. The world building was good and I really enjoyed the story. I still recommend this one.
Wonderful
Extremely hard to get into – I quit after 150 pages
Patricia Briggs writes solid stories with strong characters and a nice flow
All of Patricia Briggs’ books are excellent reads. I just wish she could write faster! This particular book is part of a 2-book series. She has a few of those. Mostly we know her for the Mercy Thompson series and Alpha & Omega series, which are both on-going, but early on, she had a few gems, either 2-book’ers or singles. All Are well worth the time to read!
Read this in paper seeveral years ago – A real keeper, yes I still have my copy. Its hard to get any better than Patricia Briggs. And yes I read the current ad details most because I would love to have more than two books featuring these characters.
This is everything you could want in a book. You can’t put it down.
4 stars – It was really good
Seraph and her family are finally headed home after saving Tier and the Emperor. But things in Redern are not how they left them. Evil has been attacking and new issues arise from the damage done to Tier’s order.
This was just as enjoyable as the first book. This family is so fascinating and wholesome. I love how they just keep adopting other people and are always taking care of others. All of them have really started embracing their abilities and it really shows in this one, especially with Seraph. She is a force of nature and I loved watching her kick ass.
This book also gives us the true history of the Travelers, the Orders, and Hennea, which was all fascinating. This is just a fascinating world of magic and I really loved learning more about it. Also, I really enjoyed the love story between Hennea and Jes. It was cute, and just the right amount of love to go with all the danger and action.
I wasn’t expecting who the bad guy behind everything was, which is great. I love when I don’t figure it out until the big reveal. As for the rest of this book, I enjoyed every minute of it, especially with all the great characters. Phoran especially was a character that I wasn’t expecting to love as much as I did. Overall, this was a wonderful fantasy world and a wonderful bunch of characters. I highly recommend this duology if you are looking for a magical fantasy world.
