When desperation is a way of life, a single chance to change your fate can be irresistible…People say Raven is not a very good fairy–she’s well known as the fairy who can’t do anything right. In a world where magic wanes as dragons terrorize the countryside, Raven tries everything to help her family make ends meet.
With creditors and collectors growing tired of excuses, Raven finds herself … tired of excuses, Raven finds herself presented with an extraordinary opportunity. Winning the high-stakes game with some of the most terrifying creatures in Oriste would allow her to prove herself as competent, solve her money troubles, and possibly even rid her world of the overbearing dragons.
Win, and no one will ever call her a failure again. Lose, and her enslavement will be soul-deep and eternal.

Fairies …. I always see as Tinkerbelle from Peter Pan.
But Raven is no Tinkerbelle, in fact the world she lives in is no fun at all….. Dragons are terrorising the world she lives in, (they have stolen most of the magic in the kingdom) Something needs to be done. Entering a game seems like the only choice Raven has, if she can win, then she can solve her money problems, prove to herself and everyone she isn’t useless and maybe find a way to stop the dragons from destroying her world. Simple ……
But the journey to where the game is being held is dangerous, and coming face to face with a dragon, is almost enough to put Raven back on the road to home. But she has Benton “Ben” with her and he’s one of the reasons she continues with her journey.
The village/town of Cliffhold is where the game is being held, and when both Ben and Raven arrive they are struck with how beautiful and different it is from their home.
The game consists of solving riddles, the winner wins enough gold to last a lifetime, and a magical dagger, this has magical abilities (and Raven’s destiny is tied to this dagger)
Entering the game, Raven knows her future depends on her winning, but her soul is in jeopardy if she doesn’t win (the losers forfeit their souls)
Oh and did I mention Ben is a centaur!!!! And they are a couple.
So does Raven win her game and the dagger? And what happens with the dagger? And what’s her destiny? And does it include Ben?
This is the first book by Kerry Adrienne that I have read, and I can say that I really enjoyed the way that she tells a story. She created two characters that I really connected with early on and that connection continued until the very end of the book. The world that she created is really interesting and totally dangerous, for obvious reasons as you read as well as the subtler dangers that creep up on the characters.
I totally empathized with Raven’s character. She is very refreshing and I loved how strong she became as the story continued. Benton is also another great character as he is the strength that Raven needs to help in building her confidence. I loved how he stuck by her side even when he wasn’t sure if they should continue. She was his focus, and that was awesome to me as the story continued and things became clearer.
However, one thing that I will say is that I don’t see this as a romance just yet. I found this book to totally in the fantasy realm with romance undertones, but the storyline was still VERY intriguing. I am really looking forward to what comes next for these characters because in the end, Raven is in a precarious place, but her resolve is very strong. Very excited to see what comes next! So, two thumbs up from me and happy reading. 🙂
Raven’s Game is a book in the Orb of Oriste Series. This was a fun interesting read for sure and one that had me wondering what was going to happen next. Raven is a fairy who feels as though she is a disappointment to her family. Struggling to find something that she is good at leads her to the desire to take a chance at the offer of participating in a game that could change her life forever.
I can’t wait to find out what happens next when the next book is released. By Alisa
This was a well-written, entertaining novella. Raven has a lot of trouble keeping a job and wants to find a way to earn some money. She asks her boyfriend to travel with her and enter a contest. Her boyfriend was loyal and loving. Adventure and danger follow their every step. I enjoyed this book and would read more books by this author.
Here is one that I don’t usually read unless the writer can tempt me with the story such as this one. Raven captures your attention with how unusual she is along with the story. She also has given us somewhere that is not to safe to be but the thrill is there to stay and see where these guys go. I am not a gamer much to one of my grandchild’s dismay but this game is got some high stakes. This also had dragons which gives it another perspective. This is the hook used to keep you in the game and continue on to see where it goes.
