Challenges of being a Succubus!!
Pia is Succubus. Which means she “feeds” by having a climax. She must feed every three days. When she falls in love with a human who could not support that schedule, she is basically starving to death. An intervention from her family is needed before she can move onto a new system.
When your suitors include a vampire, a werewolf and a demon – you know life is not going to be boring. An interesting introduction here – and I’ve actually started reading the next story – it just gets better!!
It’s not having what you want; it’s wanting what you’ve got
Pia Blyton of Lake City is a good girl. She’s smitten with her boyfriend, wouldn’t dream of being with anyone else, and they’re talking marriage. So why is Pia chained to a bed, near death, and fighting her rescuers with her last ounce of strength? It’s complicated…. Pia is a succubus, a demon who feeds on sexual energy. An orgasm evey three days is the bare minimum required for her survival. And human men just can’t keep up. Her attempt to starve her demon to death results (In no particular order): Daddy the Head Incubus-in-Charge gives up half his kingdom to save her, the ancient vampire Daddy hires has no problem feeding her; the werewolf who assists likewise, also the mazzakim demon, and for the rest of the story Pia is a supernatural sexual force be reckoned with. She delightfully, defiantly, and/or diligently (depending on your point of view) succeeds in feeding from every supernatural on Daddy’s NO-NO list. All it takes is the magic balance – they have to WANT each other, but not love each other. Exactly what Pia DOESN”T want for herself. What’s a frustrated succubus to do? Don’t answer that. Just read the book and laugh/snort/wheeze/giggle while you do. Repeat as needed – or until the sequel shows up. This has been a voluntary ARC review.
I feel like I’ve been saying this a lot lately, but once again I’ve found a book that defied my expectations and gave me a story that is unlike anything I’ve read before. Pia’s life looks a little like a long list of: “what’s the worst that can happen?” Well, sometimes the worst outcome can actually be a surprisingly good result. This book is high in angst and steam, but it’s also filled with the author’s wicked humor. My heart bleeds for Pia, and it also has a soft spot for her. I’m looking forward to reading more about her search for “love”.
Pia is an anomaly in the world of Succubi – she can’t feed unless she feels something for her “meal”. She just can’t go out hunting like her sisters or her trio of mothers. So much so, she almost kills herself having a monogamous relationship with a human.
So when she is hunted down by a paranormal bounty hunter, she makes a deal with him; she’s staying with him and his coven until she gets back to “normal”.
So what happens when you mix reluctant succubus, ancient vampire, lonely were, and an unassuming demon? No that’s not the beginning of a joke – this is Pia’s new life!
Succubi have some weird rules for a race brought to their knees by their need for sexual energy! I loved Pia; she so does not want to be a slave to her nature. She wants more from life and she does have a pretty good example to look up to in her dad and her 3 x mums!
I should’ve know this wasn’t for me as soon as succubus was mentioned, but I’ve enjoyed other books by this author, so I wanted to check it out. I’m writing this review after already reading the next two books, which made me more favorable to this one. I didn’t really like this book, but with each book I liked the story more.
For this book, it’s about succubus, Pia. At the start of the story, she’s trying to stay with the human she loves, but he can’t feed her enough, so it’s a losing game. Things end badly; Pia must return home and she must find donors; people to give her orgasms to feed her succubus nature every 3 days. If she’s not fed well enough, she becomes sex crazed and will hop up on anyone to get off. Lots of sex going on with random guys she just met; vampires and wolves, etc. are all part of this series. There isn’t much deep emotion going on in Pia’s sexual experiences. I’m not a fan of succubi and incubi because it’s too much like rape to me, and I don’t like all the shallow sex with randoms. Plus, there’s ménage stuff, and that just not my thing. The story does have some interesting elements and the writing is good. Also, I liked the next two books better than this one, but I did end up skimming a lot of the sex scenes throughout this whole series. I just don’t find them at all pleasurable. Still an entertaining series though.
Sexy, heartbreaking and soulful story that will soon have you empathizing with Pia. Great start to the series. Love the coloured cover. Looking forward to next book. Recommended.
Humans, Vampires, Werewolves, Demons, and Succubus! Woooo. Quite the combination for this story. Find out what happens when a young Succubus falls in love with a human. This might be a great What Not To Do! 😉
Fun to read. Characters you can adore!
