Jane Yellowrock is a shape-shifting skinwalker and vampire hunter for hire. But lately instead of just slaying vampires, she’s been working for them. The vampires of Asheville, North Carolina, want to establish their own clan, but since they owe loyalty to Leo Pellissier, the Master of the City of New Orleans–and Jane’s boss–they must work out the terms with him. To come up with an equitable … an equitable solution, Leo sends an envoy with the best bodyguard money can buy: Jane Yellowrock.
But when a group of local campers is attacked by something supernatural, Jane goes from escort to investigator. It’s up to her to keep peace in the region, and unless she wants to face up to very angry vampire Master, Jane will have to work overtime to find the killer. It’s a good thing she’s worth every penny

Jane/Beast is going back home to do security at a big vamp meet. What she doesn’t expect is trouble following her from New Orleans. Suddenly she has to solve a crime alongside her security/bodyguard duty. To say she is stressed thin is to put it mildly. Personal problems also keeps popping up.
All I can say is: witches, vamps and werewolves…Oh my!
I highly recommend the whole Jane Yellowrock series.
Urban fantasy. Violence. Fantastic creatures. Strong woman main character. Book is one in a series. I have read the whole series more than once.
Yellowrock is one of my favorite caricatures
Faith Hunter never disappoints.
I love the main character. Recommend the whole series.
All of the Jane Yellowrock books are great. The characters are well thought out and the story line keeps you on your toes with all the action and plot twists.
Totally continues to keep you on your toes and twist and turns keeps you guessing…very entertaining read!
faith hunter does not write about Jane Yellowrock quickly (often) enough for my family. we devour her books and want her to write as quickly as we read. of course, we know she can’t; writing is harder. but we can wish and hope. i don’t give book precis when i write reviews. I’m telling you why you should read, not what it’s about. you should read this book if you like action, adventure, vampires, vampire hunters, shape shifters, and fun.
More characters, more vampire politics, more Jane Yellowrock kicking butt! Ahhhhh… All is right with the world! Faith Hunter does it again! Just knocking me over with her incredible series. We see Jane visiting home but on vampire business and the excitement is just there. I heard from Faith Hunter directly through her Facebook group that she will be continuing this series and I nearly wept with joy. But I’ve got six more audiobooks to listen to and a slew of short stories that cover Jane Yellowrock’s world! I couldn’t be happier!
I am completely in love with this series! I am now in book 8, if that tells you anything!! I never thought I would love a book about skin walkers, vampires and witches. I actually learned things that made sense about vampires – yeah, I know they’re not real, but this author tells such a realistic story that you feel like you’re right there with them and their blood slaves and blood servants. Then she introduced different type of witches like air witches and earth witches, plus some more. I would highly recommend all her books – at least up to book 8 where I am!!
Their is just something about this series that irks me. I want to love this series and I do so enjoy Jane, but I struggle. Jane is the type of heroine I like to read about in Urban Fantasy’s. She’s independent, kicks butt, loves tea, has her favorite weapons, and is a skinwalker, something not common, at least to me, to read about. However, I feel I struggle in each book with something.
Some of my struggles have to do with the men in Jane’s life vying for her. I dislike them as boyfriend/lover material. They have all really disappointed me and not won me over on that front. I like them and I don’t; because they all have their own agendas and know one is looking out for Jane. I feel she can and does deserve better on the lover/boyfriend front. Next is all the guilt Jane cares around with her. Every book she has a guilt complex about something. Sometimes it’s about things she can’t control. Not that it changes her behavior, no, it turns into a crutch that motivates her actions and thinking. Last is her goddaughter who keeps trying to reach out to her. Jane doesn’t listen and/or puts her off until it’s convent; which by then things have progressed to the point of no return or dire straits. The child is gifted and Jane should know by now to listen.
With that said Raven Cursed is book four in the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter.
In Raven Cursed we go back to Asheville, North Carolina, Jane’s home town. Jane has to deal with a Vampire parley, a witch using blood magic, and Rick going furry. Her life is changing and ever more chaotic.
The book was a little slow going, picked up, then went slow again. It was a back and forth. I wasn’t fully feeling Raven Cursed, but it was still pleasant. I was glad we got clarification on whether Rick cheated in the last book. It wasn’t what I had thought, but he still kept secrets from Jane. If he cared, he would have confided. Yes, Jane kept a big secret, but that secret is so ingrained in her to keep. She doesn’t trust easily.
Their was a lot to enjoy with Jane and Beast hunting, Jane talking with her goddaughter, discovery of the traitor, and the grindylow. I enjoyed the novel.
