Thanksgiving has a way of thawing the frostiest hearts in Lake Eden. But that won’t be happening for newlywed Hannah Swensen Barton—not after her husband suddenly disappears . . . Hannah has felt as bitter as November in Minnesota since Ross vanished without a trace and left their marriage in limbo. Still, she throws herself into a baking frenzy for the sake of pumpkin pie and … Thanksgiving-themed treats while endless holiday orders pour into The Cookie Jar. Hannah even introduces a raspberry Danish pastry to the menu, and P.K., her husband’s assistant at KCOW-TV, will be one of the first to sample it. But instead of taking a bite, P.K., who is driving Ross’s car and using his desk at work, is murdered. Was someone plotting against P.K. all along or did Ross dodge a deadly dose of sweet revenge? Hannah will have to quickly sift through a cornucopia of clues and suspects to stop a killer from bringing another murder to the table.

Just ok. Nothing that makes you want to read the next one
I’m currently reading this. I like the characters in this series.
After reading many of her books I have grown tired of the repeated pattern of the plot. Easy to read and no harsh language or steamy sex scenes is why I picked up this author to begin with.
This book was so hard to read. Hannah is dealing with the disappearance of her husband (I say good riddance) when a co-worker of Ross’s is involved in a accident while driving Ross’s car. Doc uncovers evidence that P.K. was poisoned by candy delivered to Ross. Hannah tries so hard to push her feelings aside and investigate whether P.K. or Ross was the target. Secrets so shocking come to light and everyone is left wondering if Hannah is strong enough to handle them.
I love the characters and the relationships.
I especially love her recipes . Even tried a few. They came out really good.
I truly enjoyed reading this book. I was very happy with the story, I was drawn out of my reading slump! I just wish I had more time to read it, I would’ve been done much sooner.
I was just as lost as Hannah and Mike to find the killer in this story. but I did start piecing it together, about the time Hannah did.
I do enjoy the recipes printed at the end of each (almost) chapter. I bookmarked quite a few!
*I received my copy from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review
Interesting story and the included recipes are amazing!
I love the Hannah Swenson mysteries. I have made quite a few of the recipes and they turned out great. The blueberry muffins from the mystery of that name are my go-to muffins. I’m glad the Hallmark Channel has made several of the books into movies as it brings these stories to the attention of more people.
It’s November in Lake Eden, Minnesota. Cold weather has settled in and snow has begun to make its regular appearance. Unfortunately, Hannah Swenson is unable to enjoy the change in seasons; her husband Ross is still missing without a trace. Hannah has hope of his return as he took his keys to their home with him. She worries about her husband and their marriage the longer he is gone.
An opportunity arises for the Cookie Jar, Hannah’s beloved Cookie Shop, and they commit to selling their products at a local Holiday Bazaar held at the Lake Eden Inn. This is a wonderful opportunity for the business, and to do some investigating. Sadly, P.K., Ross’s faithful assistant has been murdered. There is mystery swirling around his death because it is unknown if he was the intended target, or if in fact the intended victim was Ross. Poisoned candy left at Ross’s desk, the desk P.K. was using while his boss was gone, is the murder weapon.
This is the twenty-second book in the Hannah Swenson Mystery series. While some complain this series has gone on too long, I find that it is still enjoyable. Sure I have been disappointed in some of the choices made by author Joanne Fluke, but the characters and setting are comfortable to me. I feel like I know the people of Lake Eden. I could have even lived there myself. It is hard to walk away from characters you love and are invested in, and I haven’t had a reason to do that with this series. This book could be read as a stand alone, but you will have missed many very good books along the way. I recommend this book, and this series.
The mystery is always exciting and the recipes are a fun bonus
Great series with wonderful recipes.
loved it
It was ok but this series needs to wrap up.
Love this whole series it is a great read
I am not sure I would recommend this book. I found it disappointing. Many unanswered questions for me. I usually really like her books. I may read it again to see if my opinion changes.
I follow Fluke.
I have read all of Joanne Fluke’s books in this series.I love the family feel of the books.I didn’t care as much for the ones with Ross in them. She has 2 good men to choose from:)
I like her books but this one had way too many recipes and the story was not too believable. I mean your new husband disappears and you are not very upset, just go on with your normal activities. The ending was very very sudden and not very good at all…
Great recipes!
