The only destiny waiting for her will be to serve the mages for the rest of her days.Except Eva isn’t like other humans. Locked in a tower for a crime she doesn’t even remember, Eva is saved by none other than some of Neo New … some of Neo New York’s most prestigious mages, and they won’t let anyone take their new toy away from them.

Book one in the Curse of the Fairy Tales series a well written story that kept me turning pages.I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Who is Eva and how did she end up in a world so different from her own. Humans are know longer the top dog mages and magic rule and the 4 mages and one assassin guard her may not be the safe haven she will need. With someone out to control her and the mystery of were she came from and why she was locked away may be the worst secret of all.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review
Eva has been locked in a tower and her memory is gone. Four hunky mages rescue her from there and things start to happen. Visions, emotions and feelings come across to relate some of the backstories, but most questions are not answered here as there is another big chapter to this story. The characters are strong and the situations and twists will keep the pages turning until you are done. Very good start, so now waiting for the next bit.

This is are a reverse harem with magic and twists and turns that will keep you riveted throughout. It’s a great re-telling that I didn’t feel as though I had read it before. The characters are well developed and the story goes into a lot of information so I really got to see each character individually and invest in the developing relationship. Can’t wait for the next one.
This is a very interesting and unique RH retelling of Rapunzel. It has really good characters and story starting with her loss of memory and the men trying to protect her. The story leaves you hanging and wanting to read the next book to find out what happens next.

Eva is rescued from the tower she has been locked in since she can remember. The men that rescued her the tower, take her in. Eva learns that humans are not looked up in the greatest light. She learns that others want her for their purposes or can face a worse fate. Eva is also find herself being attracted to one than one of the men. Eva will have a lot to learn about the new world and about herself.
This was an enjoyable take on Rapunzel, the character has no idea who she is or why she was locked up. The author gives little details a long the way and the other characters are just as interesting.

Rapunzel Untamed is the first book in Erin Bedford’s Curse of the Fairy Tales series. In this book we are introduced to Eva who is a prisoner trapped in a tower that mysteriously appears. To investigate the mysteriously appearing tower some men are sent to figure out the mystery. Once Eva is rescued she finds herself without her memory and in a world where humans don’t have rights. She finds herself having to trust Luke, Blake, Adam, Zane, and Gage.
This book is a more than enjoyable read with some budding romance, humor, and mystery. However, sometimes there is drama that doesn’t make much sense. At one point one of the men takes Eva into the city without remembering that since she is a human he will have to treat her like scum. As she doesn’t realize he doesn’t hate her, this causes some drama. At one point in the book the men are forced to treat her like mages are supposed to treat humans so they won’t get into trouble, but they don’t reassure her in any form so there is drama.
But drama for drama’s sake happens so little that it doesn’t detract from the otherwise good quality of the book.
A character having amnesia is an overused cliche but Bedford uses it to good effect. Since Eva doesn’t remember much at all readers are given various puzzles to solve as she tries to figure out what everyday objects are. One of the more amusing discoveries of hers is of a toilet. She is entranced by it. It made me remember when I was a kid that my imagination told me an evil witch lived in every toilet.
Eva’s amnesia also means that readers don’t know for a long time who she is or why she was put into a tower. Every now and again Eva dreams of her former life which gives readers glimpses of who she was. By the end of the book readers don’t know exactly who Eva is or why she was trapped in the tower. But enough information is given that readers will have a general idea of what happened in Eva’s past to lead to her being locked in the tower.
This book introduces readers to a world where humans are treated as scum and mages like gods. A little glimpse into why this is the case is given and I’m hoping more is learned in the sequels. At least in this book readers are given a good reason why mages don’t like humans. There are also many scenes that help to reinforce the extreme differences between social classes.
Now onto the men…I like Luke the best due to his kind and joking nature. Zane is also desirable to me due to the fact if he loses control of his emotions bad things happen. And the fact Eva is able to do that to him is yum. Adam and Gage also have qualities that make me like them. Especially near the end of the book when Gage briefly lets Eva see a kinder side to him. As for Blake…he has a pet and really likes his pet. So because of his pet I like him. Yeah, I’m shallow at times.
I would recommend Rapunzel Untamed by Erin Bedford to those who like their romances with a mix of science fiction and fantasy.
I had this book on my e-reader for quite some time already and I’ve been thinking about starting it countless of times during the last few weeks, but today I just really wanted to read this story AND be in time to catch the second book if I’d happen to like it. Fairytales are totally my thing and after countless of Alice Reverse Harem retellings, I was curious to discover this one.
And I was quite surprised what an easy, entertaining and quick read this was. The pages just flew by and the writing style felt so natural and fitting. I certainly want to read more book by Bedford now, because those are the kind of reads I enjoy on workdays, when my hours are already long and tiring enough.
On top of that the plot was really good and well done! It’s a slow burn story (very much so, since nothing NSFW actually happens in this book), because Bedford really takes the time to explore the world (even though we haven’t seen that much of it, but I’m sure there’s more to come) and most of all she’s giving us the time to get to know the leading lady and her men. I love how different the men are, how unique they are and how easy it is to tell them apart and to recognize them.
But most of all I love everything we learn about Eva. It’s not that much. Of course we get a glimpse of the person she is now, although she’s still figuring that out herself. But it’s the glimpses of the past that are really cool and especially the last revelation made me love this story even more than I already did.
I’m really curious to see the rest of the story unfold!
Our heroine has been locked away for a long time with no memory of what came before, until she is rescued by five mages. The attention is nice, but as her memories return, maybe the tower wasn’t such a bad place to be after all.
This is an urban fantasy story with both reverse harem and distopian elements. And if it wasn’t obvious from the title, it is also a retelling of the classic fairy tale (I leave it to the reader to figure out which one). The story is very well written, with a well developed setting that is both familiar and not at the same time. The cast of characters is diverse and also well developed, with competing motives, individual personalities and rivalries which provide a depth to the story and help bring it to life. I have to say that it was a wild ride with lots of action, mystery and intrigue which kept me reading to see what came next. Overall, a highly enjoyable story and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Highly recommended.

Wow, just wow. Where do I start? Ive always loved fairytale retellings. And Erin does this so well. This one is a retelling of Rapunzel. I didnt know what to expect because I knew of the fairytale to a certain extent from when I was a kid. This one is so much better. Eva is rescued from the tower by mages. There is so much that goes on in the story of Eva and her 5 mages. Twists and turns I didnt even see coming. Well done Erin. I look forward to the next book…

I do love a great retelling of a classic fairytale and Rapunzel Untamed is one of my favorites. I have to admit I always loved reading Rapunzel growing up and now Erin Bedford has given me a modern day reverse harem story with magical twists and turns for adults. This is a well written story with intriguing characters and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Heart racing, emotional, action packed adventure filled with dark secrets, thrilling danger, and magical charters……. exciting read from beginning to end. Really enjoyed every dangerous twist and magical turn. Excellent reading experience!
I love a good rework on a classic fairy tale and this book nails it, in this version Rapunzel has a reverse harem, a dark tale with humans, mages and mystery. The story is well written and the pace keeps you hooked and I really enjoyed all the characters not just the main ones but the supporting characters as well as they help with great world building, I can not wait to read the next in the series!!!
