Dang I don’t have the next one.
So much fun.
I loved this just as much as the first part.
yes I will be listening to it again.
The narration made me see it.
This book was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author or narrator and I provided this unbiased voluntary review.
This is book two in Galactic Pirate Brides.
You can listen to this one even if you have listened
to the one before this one.
The plot of this one is full of betrayal action drama and a little
steam.
The chemistry between the characters is interesting.
Since the author of this book was also the narrator she absolutely
brought the characters alive.
I voluntarily listen and review this book.
I acquired this book first. But, before I read it I learned there was a 1st book so I bought it and read it before reading this one. I’m glad I did. The first book should be a priority read before you get started.
Kashatok is an alien pirate. He meets “Joey” who applies for a job as a mechanic on his spaceship. He also has a cute little pet that you will fall in love with. Joey is a reporter undercover for a story on space pirates. She uncovers a blockbuster story. She also has a past that endangers her with the pirates. There are sexual scenes so if this offends you, you may want to avoid the story. Otherwise, I recommend this book!
Loved the story line
Although in the typical format of paranormal/alien bodice rippers, this has an interesting world building twist. Sex scenes are well written.
This was fun to read book.
Swashbuckling pirates – some with a heart of gold, danger, plucky damsels in distress….reminiscent of a 50ies movie, and enjoyable.
Good read. Enjoyed the alien fiction.
Enjoyed it a lot, kept my interest till the end and wanted more.
A good read. A unique take on what humans would encounter in space. Wonderful characters.
I enjoyed this book
Incredible Pirate Adventure !!!
Joy stared into the bathroom mirror, scissors in hand, ready to cut off her hair for an undercover expose she was writing on pirate activity plaguing the shipping lanes. Being tall, she should be able to pull off her disguise as a man, especially with everything under her clothes strapped tight to her body. She went back into the cantina to find the pirate, Captain Kashatok, who was interviewing for a shuttle mechanic crew member. Having tossed the last one out of the air-lock into space, he wasn’t getting very many interested parties. Also, the policy of not bringing women on board made working there unattractive for some of the men.
While talking with his first mate, a young human approached, asking about the shuttle mechanic job. Oddly, Kashatok felt a desire to protect him – he reminded him of himself at that age. They needed to be sure the kid could do the job as well as survive being among the rowdy crew! Kashatok sent out an ionic pulse to monitor the kid’s vital signs while they questioned him about his experience. They agreed to a cut of one share and the kid – Joey — was hired.
Onboard the ship, “Joey” realized that she couldn’t stay in the communal bunk room with the crew! She realized she hadn’t thought this part through! The first mate said she could buy a private room for her one share. But when she realized they had no time to get another mechanic, she used her advantage to demand 3 shares! The captain, hiding a smile, said one share and she could sleep in the store room.
When “Joey” searched the galactic web for information on the Denaidans – since 10 of the crew were of that race – the engineer came up behind her and said she would not find any info. He told her Syndicorp controlled the news and they had destroyed the Denaidans planet and all the people. Only 100 escaped. They wouldn’t want that news to get around. She could not believe it! This just might be pointing to a Syndicorp cover-up! And with her mother being the Communications CEO of Syndicorp, there could be some nasty battles! But when the pirates’ salvage attempt goes wrong, “Joey’s” gender is revealed, her identity compromised, and it looks like her very life may now be in serious danger!
This is the second book in this series, and it blew me away! The writing just flows off the pages! The main characters are so likable, and the new secondary characters are amazing! Even better, we get reacquainted with those we met from Book 1! This book was so exciting and it never slowed down! Just like Book 1, this is definitely another you won’t want to miss reading!
Actually a 3.5 but I did like the story though it does need more fleshing out. The sex scenes started to get boring. Those covers need some work.
One word: Jhikik. So cute!
I’d loved the first book in this series (Rescued by Qaiyaan) and was very excited when the author released the second book!! ‘Ransomed by Kashatok’ held my attention from the get-go.. lots of sexy alien space pirates, deception, mutiny, forbidden attraction, action, etc. This book can be read on its own, but you will be more filled in on other characters if you read the first one, as well! I really enjoyed this book, found it an easy read and look forward to see what Ms Tamsin Ley writes next in the series!!
Imagine the look on his face and his emotions when he finds out his new mechanic is a woman. Especially when he says no women on his ship. She is undercover for a story. Then add in the draw they have to each other. It makes for a very enjoyable story. It has excitement, emotion, fun, drama, suspense and so much more. I really like this series. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
This is the second book in the Galactic Pirate Series and I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of the historical swashbuckling romances I read in my youth, where the heroine disguises herself as the cabin boy. 🙂 This leads to some interesting encounters between Joy/Joey and her new Captain, plus lots of confusion on his part as to why he (and his adorable furry pet companion!) are so drawn to this ‘kid’. I really enjoyed this well-written and edited story and can’t wait to read more! I read an ARC of this book and volunteered to review it.
A fantastic story, lots of action
This book held my imagination right from the start. The characters were not perfect specimens of their species so they were easy to get in to. I loved that Joy was willing to do whatever it took to succeed despite her Mom’s negativity. I can relate. Kashatok was like a cross between Jason Momoa and Captain Jack Sparrow, so his personality also fed the story. Once it gets going, I smiled at the shades of Twelfth Night when the captain had strange thoughts about the mechanic “Joey”. By the time the action picks up, and the revelations of what Syndacorp really did, I was fully invested and absolutely HAD to see how it would end. This is a great story, you should read it!
Great read that you won’t want to put down until you are finished.
He’s broken. She might just have the tools and the knowhow to fix him.
This is the second book in Mrs. Ley’s new alien pirate series. If you liked Qaiyaan, you’ll love this one too! Rather than a repeat or a direct take off of the last book, we get to go a whole new direction that then swings back and makes contact with the first book. Whereas Qaiyaan is pretty much a knight is rusted armor, Kashatok is definitely a true pirate, though far from ‘evil’. Kashatok is crotchety and all around boorish for the first bit of the book, but he has his reasons and you come to love him more and more as he moves out of his haze of villainy. I think my favorite thing about the book is the interaction with the characters from the first installment. When I first started reading, I wasn’t entirely sure it wasn’t going to be one of those ‘in the same universe but not connected’ type of series. I’m happy to say, it isn’t.
The affection between Joy and Kashatok is very endearing and sweet. I really liked how she never backed down. Talk about courageous! Also, she’s a mechanic. Who doesn’t love a woman who knows how to wield a wrench? Maybe that’s me projecting, but it was very nice to see a woman who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty.
I received an ARC copy for a review, and then purchased it anyways. It’s that good. You know you want to.
