A new series from the author of the Moonshine Task Force Series! Laurel Springs, AL is about to be hotter than a mid-August thunderstorm. When the Moonshine Task Force is absorbed into a new entity, Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team (LSERT) new faces come to town, new love is born, old love is found again, and there’s a plethora of drama and romance happening all over the tri-county area. … over the tri-county area. LSERT puts police, firefighters, nurses, doctors, K-9 handlers, and EMT’s all in harm’s way as they work to keep the area safe from any threat.
Emotions run high, passions ignite.
Come with me, back to Laurel Springs, in what’s sure to be a wild ride!
Ransom Thompson
For years I’ve wanted two things – to be a member of the Moonshine Task Force and to be the man Stella Kepler can’t live without.
One out of two isn’t bad, or so I tell myself. Being the only K-9 handler for The MTF presents its own share of obstacles, but me and Rambo? We make it work. Life is status quo, until I’m called in to help with what appears to be a hostage situation and Stella is right in the middle of it.
This is my one chance, and I’m not going to blow it.
Stella Kepler
When I’m stuck in an examination room holding a hurt woman and a man with a gun, I do the only thing I can. I sneak out, call 911 and hope help comes quickly. It does.
In the form of Ransom Thompson.
He and I have known each other since we were babies. Our mother’s are friends, our dad’s work together, and we’ve always been friends.
Only, the last few months I’ve started to notice things. How mature he is, how alpha he can be, the chiseled six-pack, and the abundance of ink spreading across his body.
When I offer to cook him dinner for saving me, neither one of us know how that one moment will change the course of the rest of our lives.
more
Ransom Thompson and Stella Kepler have been around each other their whole lives. Their families are always together and they grew up together. They were always friends until something happened at Stella’s work and Ransom answered the call.
Stella always knew she wanted a take charge alpha man like her dad and when Ransom answered the police call at work that day, she saw him in a new light. Because their families are so intertwined they decide to keep the status hidden until they know it’s going to work out just in case. They don’t want things to be awkward with their friends and family.
As always Laramie gives you all of the feels and of course some steamy sex scenes! She gives you different points of view from a few characters. She makes you feel as if you know these families! She will always be a one click author for me!!!
4.5 stars
Ransoms story is the first book in Laramie Briscoe’s LSERT series and it gets off to a great start. Having read the MTF series (which does NOT need to be read before this) this was like been back among old friends.
Ransom and Stella have known each other for forever. Their dads work together so they’ve spent plenty of time around each other growing up. Things change when an emergency happens at Stella’s work and Ransom is the responding officer. It’s not long before they decide that they’re going to give a relationship a go and see what happens between them, but with Ransom working with Stella’s dad and have mutual friends they decide to keep it quiet for the time being.
I really enjoyed this book. There’s no massive dramas, no angst, it’s just two mature people knowing what they want and willing to make compromises to make things work, albeit without anyone knowing. Stella and Ransom are both easy to like characters and I can’t wait for more from the LSERT gang.
It was a joy to read another Laramie Briscoe novel! As one of my favorite authors, it’s always fun to read her newest fiction. This book is the first in a new series, but the characters have been introduced to us in the Moonshine Task Force series. Ransom and Stella give us a wild ride on their love adventure, having known each other their whole lives.
Childhood friends that seem to be heading to a more romantic future, Ransom and Stella are both children of Moonshine Task Force law enforcement officers. While we knew both of them as children in MTF books, they are now adults. I enjoyed seeing the adult kids and how the kids of law enforcement officers grow up. Throughout the book we get to see characters we grew to love in the MTF series, and their amazing and loving relationships.
Ransom Thompson, son of the leader of the MTF ( Havoc). Now a member himself, this hunky man is making a name for himself as the only K-9 handler for the unit. Rambo his amazing canine partner, and a huge fan of Stella. Ransom has been eyeing Stella for a long time, just waiting for the time to be right and for her to see him the same way. Stella is the only daughter of another MTF task force member (Renegade). She’s strong, quick witted and quick thinking and is seeing Ransom in a whole new light. When their lives collide, the sparks fly. They have a fantastic story arc, as their paths cross and intersect and line up; they both grow and work together facing challenges.
Honestly, how could the heat and chemistry go wrong when Ransom is described so well in the blurb? And any child of Whitney Kepler is going to be a knockout! These two kids who grew up together have a lot of history to work with. When Stella finally decides to go for the manly and amazing Ransom, it all works out in a fantastically satisfying way!
This book was fast paced! It started out with a heart racing introduction to Ransom and Stella and Rambo. Ms. Briscoe did an incredible job of weaving a imaginative tale of love and high stakes risks and canine love. It had the perfect blend of can’t turn the page fast enough to get to the spicy bits, woven with the all important mundane and everyday bits of life that make life real. Much like many of Ms. Briscoe’s books, this is written in chapters back and forth by our main characters; but we get the added treat of some chapters by the parents, which give us insight to their lives as adults and parents of adult children. One of my favorite parts!
I thought this book was an amazing next step after the MTF series. It creates a bridge between the original series and leads the way for an fantastic new set of characters and books while keeping us in touch with some of my favorite books families. I’ve read all of Ms. Briscoe’s books, with the MTF series being among my favorite (I’m an Ace gal, and Trick); but this book ranks right up there! I think because I’m such a huge fan of becoming invested in book families so this continues the MTF. But also because Ransom and Stella are just such marvelous characters. Can’t wait to see more of the LSERT!

OMG, the next generation of the MTF is going to be hotter than the first generation!!!! Ransom and Stella are hot couple, maybe even hotter than Menace and Rina! This is a fantastic book if you are looking for a follow up or friends to lovers book.
I have read all the book in the MTF series and each book got better than the previous ones. Now that the MTF series turned into the new LSERT series, I have to say that Ransom continues that trend.
This book follows Ransom (Holden & Leighton’s son) and Stella (Ryan & Whitney’s) as their relationship go from friendship to romance.
I’ve said it once I’ll say it again – Laramie Briscoe knows how to write a great blue-collar series. I think this one just might be my favourite so far.
I loved the banter, chemistry, the fact to see all the couples from previous books. I loved Ransom. I mean how could I not: he’s tall, tattooed, dog-loving broad-shouldered man. I loved how easy he and Stella made their relationship work. I loved her determination to go after what she wants and boy did she want him. I even loved her insecurities. They make a great couple with support they have for one another.
As much as I loved this book I can’t wait to finally see what happens between Nick and Kelsey. Something tells me the best is yet to come.

How I loved book one in The Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team series. Ransom was bitter sweet for me as I had follow the MTF men since the beginning. They are older and wiser now! So it looks like we have their children all grown up and ready for love!
We start with Stella and Ransom. I was swooning over Ransom. He is so sweet and ready to take on the world one crime at a time. His K9 dog, Rambo, stole my heart. Stella is such a sweet heart and her romance with Ransom leaves you smiling like a goof. It still warmed my heart that the MFT characters are still a huge part of this book. You get the heat factor that Laramie is notorious for with her books and more! LSERT series won me over within the first chapter and I am excited for this new journey!
This is the new generation for this world of characters, and it was lovely to see Ransom and Stella figure out some things together!
This author pulls no punches when it comes to love scenes, and just… holy hotness. There’s nothing not to like about Ransom (or Rambo, let’s be real) and Stella is a force unto herself. They are well matched and being back in this world is such a pleasant adventure. Everyone here is thoughtful, beautiful and has a great heart. Excited to see where Nick and Kels end up in the next one!
Ransom has had his eye on Stella for years, hoping that she would someday see him the same way. Stella has grown up with Ransom, so close they are almost family. She didn’t see him any other way until she suddenly did. Now she is the one hoping that he could see her as more than just a family friend. When circumstances lead to Ransom being her hero, she takes the opportunity to invite him to dinner as a thank you. Now with his dream within his grasp, Ransom will do whatever it takes to keep her in his arms and his life, forever.
I didn’t think I could love one of the Laurel Springs boys more than Menace. Then she wrote Cruise and I fell even harder. Now Cruise has been knocked down the list in favor of Ransom! Oh my lord, Laramie Briscoe’s books should come with a warning label and possibly a kiddie pool so that when you melt into a puddle you can put yourself back together. Ransom is every cop fantasy come to life. Stella is the girl you root for; are over the moon for when she gets the guy of her dreams. When these two get together it is quite simply magic! Ten stars for Ransom!
What an awesome start to this new series from Laramie Briscoe. Having read the Moonshine Task Force Series this spinoff involving the younger generation and the all new Emergency Response Team (LSERT) is just as fantastic. We get a chance to catch up with the characters from the prior series as well as meet their kids who are now young adults that are making their way in the world and of course falling in love.
Ranson and Stella have been friends since they were kids, as their fathers work together on the original Moonshine Task Force. They were always like best buds but lately they have been seeing each other in a whole new light, noticing how grown up and sexy the other was, but not saying anything to one another. When Ranson, now a K9 Officer, is called to Stella’s place of work and saves her from a dangerous situation, she offers to fix him dinner as a way to say thank you. That night sparks fly and one kiss turns both their worlds upside down.
This is a very romantic, exciting and suspenseful book with a bit of humor throw in as well. I highly recommend Ranson and suggest you grab this one up, ASAP, you won’t be sorry you did. I wish to say Kudos to the author for a job well done and I give Ranson 5 exciting stars and 2 Huge Thumbs Up.
First I have to say that I loved Ransom. With every book Laramie writes I fall in love with her writing like it’s the very first book I’ve read of her’s. If you’ve read the MTF book then you’ve heard of Ransom and Stella. My heart was so full of joy that they got a book. We’ve all had that one crush as a kid, that we told ourselves that is the person we are going to end up with. Reading the love blossom between them and also adding in the bond of Ransom’s dog Rambo, this book was perfect.
You guys! This book is amazing. This book is all about the second generation. If you love the MTF series you will definitely love this one. Ransom and Stella are honestly the most amazing people who have some serious chemistry. I need everyone to read this book STAT!
have tried writing this review about 4 times now and each time it just didn’t seem right
Ransom and Stella show just how their parents taught them in life love with all you have but do it smart.
They don’t want to hurt their friends or families so they hide their relationship just to make sure this is what they both think it will be .
Theirs isn’t insta love but is just what they want the kind of love that they grew up with seeing their parents have.
I think Ransom and Stella just became my new favorite couple!!! These two are sickenly sweet and o so hot. These two have a instant connection that grows insanely fast. And when there families find out I think there a little bummed they hid it. In the end it all works out and these two get there happy!!!
OMG!!!Theres not enough words to describe how great Ransom is. You have the hot guy with the sexy girl and than you bring in the dog that everyone loves ( well not the bag guy). It’s a must read.
I love how Laramie shows us the life of a K9 officer. The love between the officer and his dog is indescribable.
I enjoyed Ransom and Stelle. As always Laramie builds a world her readers long to be a part of and the characters become real. There was no shortage of the sexy good times… And they were good times, the best part is thst they’re not forced. They feel like they’re supposed to be there in thst part of the story. Stelle and Ransom had a lot of build up and hype and I think my expectations were crazy high. I enjoyed the book but didn’t love it. It could very well be me. I definitely reserve the right to come back after a bit and edit my review.
I’m excited to see where Laramie takes some of the characters she introduced us to.
I doesn’t need to be said but Ransom is a must read for Briscoe fans.
Was so sad when MTF ended.. but yay they are back in the LSERT!! I am so excited that we get to see the kids growing up in this series!! I loved Ransom and Stelle! they make a great couple and I cried durning one part of this book not gonna give spoilers away! But I love Ransom Dog! Ohh my he always made me smile! I recommend this book and MTF so that you know who people are! You wont be disappointed!
BRING ON MORE OF THE LSERT!!! I love it! Great Job Laramie on another well written book!
I almost feel like I have to apologize to the original MTF crew from Laramie’s books because she has decently served notice as the next group of hero’s and well alpha males is here with The new series LSERT. Though I don’t think I’ll need to apologize really.
But also you better have the warning added to it may experience moments of spontaneous combustion while reading ransom and Stella’s story
I really couldn’t get enough of these two and really can’t wait to see what comes from the rest of the series and well January just got a whole lot hotter 😉
I’ve been looking forward to reading this book since it was announced by LB and I’m happy to report that it lived up to ALL of my expectations.
I’m a huge MTF fan so it was great to see the guys (older and wiser – and still hot!) with their kids. I was happy that I got a whole lot of Renegade (he owns my MTF-Lovin’ heart no matter how old he is ;)).
Now onto the book, Ransom and Stella were great together. I loved their chemistry and the way they connected. Stella didn’t give mixed signals and was all about letting Ransom know where she stood and what she wanted. Ransom was sweet and totally alpha, in all the right ways. Ransom’s love for Rambo was super adorable and I loved their daddy/doggy connection. I won’t say much more than that, because you have to read it to get all the goodness, just know that you’ll love it!
I’m super excited to see where this series goes and how much more of our MTF men we will get to see… speaking of, I’m going to re-read Renegade now <3 🙂
Laramie never disappoints! The chemistry and heat between Ransom and Stella is unlike anything I have ever read before. This is a great start to the spinoff of the Moonshine Task Force. I couldn’t put the book down and loved it so much I reread it as soon as I finished! They are now my absolute favorite….at least until Nick and Kelsea’s book is released! Highly recommend!
