A new series from the author of the Moonshine Task Force Series! Laurel Springs, AL is about to be hotter than a mid-August thunderstorm. When the Moonshine Task Force is absorbed into a new entity, Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team (LSERT) new faces come to town, new love is born, old love is found again, and there’s a plethora of drama and romance happening all over the tri-county area. … over the tri-county area. LSERT puts police, firefighters, nurses, doctors, K-9 handlers, and EMT’s all in harm’s way as they work to keep the area safe from any threat.
Emotions run high, passions ignite.
Come with me, back to Laurel Springs, in what’s sure to be a wild ride!
Ransom Thompson
For years I’ve wanted two things – to be a member of the Moonshine Task Force and to be the man Stella Kepler can’t live without.
One out of two isn’t bad, or so I tell myself. Being the only K-9 handler for The MTF presents its own share of obstacles, but me and Rambo? We make it work. Life is status quo, until I’m called in to help with what appears to be a hostage situation and Stella is right in the middle of it.
This is my one chance, and I’m not going to blow it.
Stella Kepler
When I’m stuck in an examination room holding a hurt woman and a man with a gun, I do the only thing I can. I sneak out, call 911 and hope help comes quickly. It does.
In the form of Ransom Thompson.
He and I have known each other since we were babies. Our mother’s are friends, our dad’s work together, and we’ve always been friends.
Only, the last few months I’ve started to notice things. How mature he is, how alpha he can be, the chiseled six-pack, and the abundance of ink spreading across his body.
When I offer to cook him dinner for saving me, neither one of us know how that one moment will change the course of the rest of our lives.

This is the 1st in a new series from this talented author and is hot K9 cop and Stella’s story. This is a beautifully written story which is emotional and heartfelt, and filled with angst, secrets, undeniable chemistry and love. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and highly recommend for all readers.
Let me just begin by saying that the moonshine task force was an amazing series and this spinoff with the kids was an incredible idea. Ransom was such a sweet guy who loves his dog and is completely gone when it comes to Stella. Sweet Stella has not stopped thinking about Ransom for a while and decides she’s ready to explore her feeling for him. This is such a sweet story but so much more it made me swoon over Ransom and it is an amazing start to a new series. This author knows exactly how to make her authors happy and does an amazing job when it comes to writing. I am anxiously waiting for book 2 in this new series.
I still need to read the original MTF series (I’ve only read Renegade’s story! Ooops!) but this one called to me this week, so here we are. : )
Normally I don’t like when the H/h are hiding their relationship because I think it’s silly to do so. I still thought it was silly to do so (as did their parents when they found out) but the author did a good job of describing why Ransom & Stella both felt it was the right thing to do, so it didn’t annoy me as much.
I highly enjoyed their story & how everything played out. Also, Ransom’s K9, Rambo, is a scene stealing pupper! Not only was there mad chemistry between Ransom & Stella, but she loved Rambo as much as he did, and she made a point to think of him in their relationship, too. It was very sweet!!
: )
Ransom by Laramie Briscoe is the first book in her Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team series. This is the next generation awesomeness of the Moonshine Task Force series. So while readers of the the MTF books will get a kick out of the characters involvement in the LSERT series, LSERT is all about the new kids. Ransom is the story of Ransom Thompson and Stella Kepler and is heartfelt, emotional, angsty and wonderful.
Ransom has been into Stella for as long as he can remember. She is his best friends older sister and she has never really taken the time to notice him over the years. Not in the way he wants her to. But all that is about to change. What blossoms between them in the heat of a dangerous moment is a result of years of knowing each other and it isn’t the first time she’s appreciated Ransom, his kindness, his body, and his heart in the past few months, but this will be the first time she decides to act on it.
Oh the angst of finally requited love, the danger of dating a police officer, and the issues involved with keeping things secret just to be safe should things go wrong…
I loved this book and can’t wait to get more of this series and of Laurel Springs! Enjoy!
Ransom has wanted one woman and he hopes he gets her but he is also waiting for the right time and that time is now. Stella has slowly been noticing Ransom and the changes of him growing into a man, but will he want her? After one rescue and a dinner, everything changes for them. Dangerous jobs bring to light what neither has wanted to face. I loved, loved, loved this book. The characters were so alive to me. It was like I was listening to a friend tell me about their day, rather than a book I was reading. I can’t wait for the next book. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
I was delighted when I heard that Laramie Briscoe was bringing out a new series that was a spinoff from The Moonshine Task Force and as expected, Ms Briscoe did not disappoint!
Ransom was a great read and a fab way to start the LSERT series.
I liked that Ransom and Stella had been around each other for years and that their dads were friends and colleagues. When they finally saw the light and noticed each other their romance was light on angst or drama and a really good read.
I loved Rambo and the connection Ransom had with his K9 partner.
Engaging, sweet with heat and some action, I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series and cannot wait for the next read.
4*
I will start off by saying that I didn’t realize I should read the Moon Shine Task force books before reading this. It was a little confusing when the author would switch between the characters nicknames and their real names. I honestly had no clue who she was talking about in some parts.
This was an okay read. It kept my attention for the most part. It was a little slow for me though.
The characters were just okay to me as well. I loved Rambo though. But who wouldn’t love a K9 cop?
I didn’t really connect with Stella or Ransom much. It’s not that I didn’t like them, I did.
Based off all the other reviews, this is a me thing and not the book, so I would say to give it a shot.
3.5 Stars
This story was a nice romantic story. From the start I liked the fact that Stella and Ransom didn’t have any OW drama. Everything was like your normal average romance story.
Two people who liked each other and they started a relationship. From there it was spending time together and getting to know each other better.
Why my 3 starts. Nothing stood out for me. I love drama in my romance books, I love that a guy will fight for you and that sometimes you argue, because that’s what makes a relationship work. In this story Ransom and Stella just got together and it seemed like they never argued they never disagree and life was just romance and flowers.
Except when he got hurt. And there wasn’t anything out of the ordinary or anything that had you guessing what would happen
Hence the 3 stars.
I loved the fact that we got to see what the Moonshine Task force couples were up to. Other than that I can’t wait for Nick’s story
I loved the newest book in the Moonshine Task Force family – or now the new Laramie Springs Emergency Task Force. Stella and Ransom have known each other forever, but now that they are all grown up, they start looking at each other a little differently. They had great chemistry and I just was hooked on the story from the start and wanted to see where the couple ended up. It was a great story without all the extra drama, which was nice. If you have read the MTF series, you will remember the parents, and it is great to see glimpses of them in this book as well. I would highly recommend this book and the MTF series, and I am really looking forward to the next installment of LSETF – I assume Nick and Kelsea’s story!
Reviewed For I’m A Sweet And Sassy Book Whore
With every book that Laramie Briscoe writes, this book whore becomes an even bigger fan. Ransom is the first book in the LSERT series which is a spin-off of the MTF (Moonshine Task Force) series and if you have read any of the MTF books then you will not only see characters from there in Ransom but these are the kids of the MTF guys.
I LOVED Ransom, I know who inspired his character and as a fan of the show he is from I have to say that Laramie did an excellent job bringing his character to life in this one. The chemistry between him and Stella was off the charts explosive, his connection with his K-9 partner Rambo was both sweet and strong, but Ransom coming into his own and going for what he wanted, well that is just one of the things that made him so sexy in my opinion. I mean he could pull me over and search me any day of the week, well him or the person he is inspired from that is. Watch LIVE PD, you will quickly figure out what I mean.
I am excited about this new series and what will happen to the characters we have come to know and love and some possible new ones along the way as well. You don’t have to have read the MTF series in order to start the LSERT one but I think you will love it even more if you do because you get the background on who is who and what has happened in their pasts. Ransom is a MUST read and one that I plan on reading again very, very soon.
Awe! I really enjoyed this story. Just like all the other MTF books it is lighter on the drama and full of all the feels. Ransom (awesome flipping name) and Stella have been friends their whole lives but seeing their friendship turn into more was awesome. Getting to see some of my favorite characters from the earlier books just added so much more to the reading experience. I have a feeling that seeing the kids get their HEAs is going to be just as great as seeing the parents fall in love. I can’t wait for Nicks story! Gah, so excited for it.
I would have given it 5 stars but I felt that the dialogue was a little stiff. At times it really worked but then other times it just didn’t seem like I could feel all the emotions that were conveyed with them. Either way it was a great read. 4 stars #2OCCJD
Laramie keeps the swoon-worthy momentum going in this spinoff of the MTF series!
It truly does take a special person to be in a relationship with someone in law enforcement. Ransom lays it out that he knows his work schedule is hectic and of course, he and Rambo are a package deal.
Considering who Stella’s dad is, it’s no surprise she gets it.
The story definitely isn’t one-sided and Ransom makes it a priority to support Stella and her dreams.
Fun continuation of the previous books — I loved the throwback to Stella’s birth!
Now, bring on Nick and all his baggage. I’m sure it’s going to be gut-wrenching but Laramie never leaves us without a happy ending!
Ransom was a great 5 star read and book one in the LSERT series. If you read the Moonshine Task Force series you will love this one just as much, this is the second generation. We get so many great new characters and we see some of the favorites as well.
Laramie has once again pulled me right in. I fell in love with Ransom and Rambo right along with Stella. Ransom is a K9 officer and Stella is working in a clinic. Both Stella and Ransom have grown up together, their parents are best friends. For years these two have been flirty but never went any further.
When Stella faces a really scary 911 situation that Ransom responds to she realizes that she has to seize the moment. She offers to make a thank you dinner for him. Needless to say things flare up from here but they decide to keep it on the down-low for awhile.
I knew we would be explosive if we ever allowed ourselves to light the fuse, but I’m not prepared for this sexy man in front of me.
These two really bring it in this story. There is so much going on and the secondary characters were great, loved them all. There is a huge heart stopping twist that had me in tears. Overall this has to be one of my top favorites from Laramie, the ending was great and the epilogue was even better. I highly recommend 1-clicking and getting started today on this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I Voluntarily Reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book!
While I am a HUGE Laramie Briscoe fan as well as a fan of the Laurel Springs characters, I was not blown away by this book. It just didn’t knock it out of the park for me like I would have expected. This book was much tamer than her previous books. The excitement and suspense lacked and I craved it so much. While I enjoyed the characters and the repeat of those in the MTF books, this one should have had more drama, suspense and angst. I can’t say it wasn’t okay because it was but It wasn’t as action packed. I do look forward to reading Nick & Kelsea’s story. With all the previous history between the two and the childhood Nick endured, I hope it brings a lot more complications, redemption and rebirth.
3.5 STARS
Oh. My. God. I’m so glad that this was my first read of 2019 and I’m honoured to have experienced a new chapter of the Laurel Springs journey.
I’m always so cautious with next generation books, the amount of times there’s major plot holes. Especially when there’s pop culture references. But Laramie has flawlessly executed a Moonshine Task Force next gen love story.
Ever wonder what would happen if Renegade’s daughter fell in love with Havoc’s son? Be ready for an explosion of chemistry, drama, angst, plot twists and an epic love story. Not to mention, you get to see the MTF family again, see what became of your favourite couples, and Rambo is the sweetest fictional dog ever.
GAH! I am so in love with Laramie Briscoe! I was so excited that the next generation of Laurel Springs residents were getting their own series!! Ransom was everything I wanted it to be and more! FIVE STARS!!
Can I say that Laramie Briscoe has done it again! I read her Moonshine Task Force series and this is the spin off to that series and oh what a BANG it started out with. I mean I started writing this review a few times and had to delete most of it because it was full of spoilers. I just couldn’t think about what to write because this story blew my mind like the MTF did.
Ransom Thompson is the man that works hard and does what he can for his friends and his team. He loves his dog Rambo being the only K-9 handler in the team sometimes has its ups and down but Ransom wouldn’t change it for the world. Besides loving his job and family and friends he is in love with Stella Kepler. Only thing is Ransom works with Stella’s father and does not want to ruin his career or friendship with her dad so he keeps his distance.
One day on the job he gets the call that changes his life forever because Stella is being held captive by a crazy gun man and he must do whatever it takes to rescue her and get her back to safety. So he does what he does best and goes head in to the situation and saves Stella and the man.
Stella grateful that her father and his team comes to save her especially Ransom and Rambo she decides she will ask Ransom over for dinner to thank him. Only when they are talking and having dinner they find that they have a lot in common and that they both like each other. The only thing is will it change anything for them if they get together?
Ransom and Stella’s story is one of love, loyalty, and friendship. This is a must read series just like the MTF series! Go out and one click it you won’t be disappointed!
Since I delighted and devoured this author’s other series I was excited to dive into this one. Ransom will have no trouble catching your attention with your interest only getting deeper as you read his story. He will get captured himself when he goes to help with us there every step of the way. Stella is not new to Ransom so this makes for even more interesting watching where this will lead us. They also now realize they are grown up. If this i
Laurel Springs seems to have a plethora of great characters, and I hope Laramie stays with them because I just love them.
Stella Kepler and Ransom Thompson have known each other since childhood, as their parents work together and everyone is like family.
But now that they are adults, there is no denying the attraction they feel for each other. Ransom has had a crush on Stella since he was young, while Stella noticed Ransom as a man when she saw him coming out of the pool of her grandparents’ house.
After Ransom rescues Stella from a hostage situation, she volunteers to make a dinner for him and from there, the two become inseparable but prefer to keep their relationship a secret.
But when Ransom and Rambo get hurt during an occurrence, it’s inevitable that everyone will know about their relationship.
I loved the story and to be able to see the characters from the other books of the Moonshine Task Force Series again. I’m already looking forward to the story of Nick and Kels.
I highly recommend the reading.
I absolutely loved Ransom. It started off with a bang and immediately you are thrown into a world both familiar yet altered. Ransom grew up and became a protector, a cop, with a DOG. He his a K-9 officer and one of the greatest things i think this book did was acknowledge, cultivate and keep present the realties of being a K-9 officer.
Stella! We have been looking to her story forever! Briscoe did a wonderful job of showing Stella as an a adult who is understanding and respectful of the job Ransom has. She not only understands Ransom but she understands his relationship with his K-9 partner, Rambo, is critical and goes out of her way to win them both over.
I loved how realistic this book was and so appreciated the build up between these two. Ransom is both an alpha and a sweetheart, like the men from Moonshine Taskforce.
The kids are all grown up and I love it.
