Viktoria Jonsdottir is none too pleased with the personal bodyguard her father has insisted on hiring to keep her safe. Safe from what, she has no idea, but she’s convinced having this brooding man hovering over her is completely unnecessary. All she wants to do is get to New York where her father is conducting high level meetings for their corporation—meetings she arranged, to prove her value to … to the company. Sure, Lee MacCallister is sexy as hell and his eyes would make an ordinary woman swoon. But Viktoria is no ordinary woman. She’s not going to fall for Lee, even if he does make her feel things she’s never felt before. Like this strange new emotion that just might be…happiness.
It’s a simple enough assignment for the former Army Ranger—protect some rich, spoiled woman for a few days then pick up the check. Only thing is, Viktoria isn’t like any woman he’s ever met. She’s tough, smart, and has a body that’s more than a little distracting. He can keep it professional, even though she’s beyond tempting as sin. But when things get dicey and Victoria’s enemies prove to be far more dangerous than Lee anticipated, he realizes Viktoria has become more than an assignment—she’s become personal. And that could be the most dangerous thing of all.

Loved this storyline. Lee is supposed to protect Viktoria, but she doesn’t believe she needs protecting. Lee handles this assignment as just another job, but he lets his guard down and realizes he’s fallen for her once she is really in danger. Great ending!
The Ranger and his Valkyrie Warrioress
Ranger’s Protection by Leslie North is a well written book that was so fun to read! Lee and Viktoria are awesome characters. Full of passion and fire, these two throw sparks immediately. Lee is demanding and commanding and Viktoria matches his demands and commands with some of her own. Their back and forth in even in the heat of their sexiest moments were as amusing as they were hot. As their story progresses, pride, social status and vulnerabilities all come into play, but these two cannot be kept apart.
The plot was very interesting, giving this romance a suspenseful edge that will keep the reader fully engaged. Between the danger and the characters themselves, this one was hard to put down.
I really enjoyed how the MacCallister brothers come together in this book. These three were brought back together by loss and grief and through it all found the meaning of family again with their perfect women. This made the HEA all the sweeter and a wonderful ending for the SEAL and Veteran Series. I loved them all!
Unfortunately, this will be the last I read from this author. Viktoria was so unlikable it was a real struggle to finish. Also, I knew immediately who the “villain” was the second this person was introduced. Weak plot and no character development.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I adored Lee. He was the perfect hero in this book. After reading the prior two brothers’ stories, I knew that Lee would be just as lovable as they were. Viktoria on the other wasn’t just a strong female lead, she was overbearing. I felt that she could have been more understanding with Lee’s security views and still have a great story. She was just too much for me.
The plot of the story was a good one though and I did enjoy it. I especially enjoyed when the other brothers helped towards the end and finally the reappearance of their lady loves. If you love extra combative females (not just strong but over the top stubborn), you will enjoy this story. It can be a stand alone book but the other stories are ones that you will enjoy as well.
Army Vet turned Private Security
This is the third book in the SEAL & Veteran Series from Leslie North, of which I have read the three books centered around the McCallister brothers. While this book is the third in the series, they each read as standalone books and you don’t need to read all three to enjoy each book. As a slight bonus, there is a bit at the end where all stories merge, however it doesn’t take away from each being a standalone although reading all three does enhance the series, even though they can each be read alone. At the time of this ARC review, the title of the book is SEAL’s Protection, however I do want to say that Lee is not a Navy SEAL, but a retired Army Ranger. The only McCallister SEAL is Chance, whose story is outlined in the first book of this series “SEAL’s Homecoming” (which I do also recommend).
This this book follows Lee McCallister, a retired Army Ranger sniper who retired due to an injury that affected his vision. After his retirement inducing retirement and death of his father, Lee ends up taking a job in California working as private security for the rich and famous. Assigned to an Icelandic heiress and businesswoman, Viktoria, a series of events puts the two in situations that bring them close together, while at the same time far apart. This book has many hot and steamy moments, as both Viktoria and Lee are very headstrong with strong personalities that when together, are explosive. Lee is a great protector, especially when its someone that he cares about and is close to. As great as he protects and his military training comes into play when protecting alone, he really shines when certain events cause Lee to call on his brothers and all three work together.
The author does a great job in providing the reader with insight into both Viktoria and Lee’s lives, what makes them tick and learn and find themselves, and how great they are together. Another aspect I really enjoyed about this book was seeing the McCallister brothers in action, and getting a bonus Epilogue at the end where all three McCallister brothers and their woman appear, giving the reader a bonus of getting more story line as a follow-up to each of their stories.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
**After reviewing this book, the author did take into account ARC reader input and the name of the book was changed to be more fitting to the storyline and characters.**
