I really enjoyed this story and it’s characters.
There’s certainly a lot of people on a reservation, I’d no idea they were a town in themselves. I enjoyed this insight into the Native culture as well as the mystery of the murders in this book. It gripped me from the beginning. A well written, entertaining plot with drama and romance.
Ranger Creed is a great romance wrapped around an interesting whodunit. Lani Running Bear needs back-up and the one she needs is Zach Jones. She becomes his first Protectors job but he would have done it for free. He’s had a thing for Lani ever since she put him on his butt in Afghanistan. They team up to solve three murders, battle tribal elders and to keep her from being the next victim. There are several unexpected twists that will keep you guessing right up to almost the end.
There are murders happening to the youth from the Blackfeet Rez. Lani is a copy but she’s getting stymied by the rez elders about working on this case. She asks and ex military ranger she knew from her time overseas to have her back while she investigates. Danger, heat and closure. HEA.
I love Elle James books! The ending came a little too fast and beat on this one but a very good read
Lani Running Bear has always wanted to return to Montana and serve her people. After a deployment in Afghanistan, serving as a MP, Lani returns to the Blackfeet reservation to serve her people as a policewoman. When bodies start turning up and she finds she’s next on the killer’s list, Lani turns to the only man she trusts to watch her back, Zach Jones.
Zach Jones never intended to return to Montana-EVER. When he was offered a job with Hank Patterson’s Brotherhood Protectors, he jumped at the chance. Right before he officially started with the Protectors, Zach receives a call from Lani in need of assistance. Even though Lani tackled him to the ground and put him in military prison, Zach felt a connection to Lani. Zach gets permission from Hank to take on Lani’s case, then pretends to be engaged to Lani so they can solve the murders. The Blackfeet tribal members don’t care for outsiders on the reservation, but Zach is a quarter Blackfeet and engaged to Lani Running Bear, so he’s good. He’s still considered an outsider though.
Elle James does not disappoint! As a Creek, I liked that the reservation was the crime scene. I’ve never read a novel based on a reservation. So the change was very good! The suspense and twists in the story had me reading into the night. Having a heroine and alpha male on equal footing was also a welcome change, no whiny women! This was a quick, easy, suspenseful read with a HEA. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
If you LOVE your romance with suspense in it, you will adore this one. You don’t have to read the prior books in this series to understand this story. The only word of warning, give yourself some time to read it all! I adore all of this author’s work. I get completely pulled into the story right from the beginning. Many times I had to pull myself back from an old habit to read the last few pages. I haven’t done that in decades but it is hard here. I never guessed the murderer but I should have. The author gave very slight clues but I didn’t pick up on them.
Lani is a Blackfeet Indian. She returned from her service in the Army as an MP to be a law enforcement officer of her reservation. She wants to make a different for the younger generation. Right as she is getting off her 12 hour shift, she responds to a call. A young man is found murdered in the trailer he shares with his grandmother. Lani is pulled off the case but she knows that her help in finding the killer is needed as they are short-staffed (even though the FBI will be called in). She is capable of taking a man down and has but she wants someone who will protect her back. She calls a man that she actually did take down, Zachariah Jones. He would be welcome on the reservation as he is one quarter Blackfeet Indian. Well I just wanted to swoon over Zach! He is a strong very capable man but who is comfortable with himself to allow a woman to take the lead while protecting her at the same time.
Hank and Sadie Patterson make a couple of appearances in the story and I loved seeing that. Also another thing that I loved, the story was written in my favorite dual POV format. Getting a glimpse into the characters’ mind while in a given situation really helps me to identify with and understand the characters so much better.
This story is a little on the sexy side but nothing in overly graphic. I would highly recommend this story to anyone over the age of 18.
I loved Ranger Creed, the 14th book in the Brotherhood Protectors series. Each one of these books just keeps thrilling me. Every time I think I have it figured out, Elle James throws me another curve and keeps me turning pages. It’s like I’ve know who it, oh, no, oh, wait, oh! And watching (so to speak) Lani and Zach fall for each other after she called him for help while danger was all around was awesome. Especially since they met previously in the military, which is why she called him! You truly need to read this book. (And all her others!)
This is book 14 in the Brotherhood Protectors series and it features Zack and Lani. These two met while deployed in Afghanistan on the same Army base. She needs someone to watch her back while investigating murders on her reservation and Zach is the man for the job. Zach, like Lani, is a registered part of the Blackfeet tribe. They were attracted to each other while deployed and it’s only gotten stronger since.
The action and suspense were fantastic! The characters were awesome! When it came down to finding out why certain events occurred, it would have been better to NOT know. Poorly thought out reasons but other than that, the story line was great.
ARC for honest review with no compensation 4.5 stars
Ranger Creed is book 14 in the continuing series of Brotherhood Protectors by Elle James and another good book!
Lane Running Bear, military MP and Zachariah Jones, a fellow soldier butted heads while serving in Afghanistan. Lani returned home to the Blackfeet reservation after her discharge as a law enforcement officer. When people started turning up dead for no apparent reason and she is pulled from the investigation she turns to the one man she knows who is part Blackfeet and she had a connection to in the military…Zach Jones. Zach finally left the service and now works for Hank Patterson of the Brotherhood Protectors Agency while waiting for his first assignment he receives a call from Lani for help…
What happens next is a fake engagement, working together, steamy, some suspense, have someone’s back, loyalty to her people, finding the truth are things that make this a great read!!
Lani returned to the Blackfeet reservation to serve as a tribal police officer after serving in the army as Military police. When several tribal members end up murdered and she doesn’t know whom to trust. Lani calls in Zach, a former army friend who recently joined Brotherhood Protectors Security. Murder, mystery, and romance. No cliffhanger and hea.
It can be read as a standalone but series is great.
I voluntarily received this ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
I absolutely love the Brotherhood protector series and will buy any book that is set in this world and this one was another great addition to this series.
Lani Running Bear is ex military police and now that she is retired she is police officer for the Blackfoot reservation and someone is killing her people She knows that she needs help but for them to be on the reservation they also need to be Blackfoot So she calls on the help of Zachariah Jones he has enough Blackfoot blood to enter the reservation (his grandmother was 100%) They have met previously she detained this ranger when he was involved in an fight in Afghanistan, he has also recently retired and joined the Brotherhood protectors. There was a connection between them at their first meeting but as they spend more time together on this job that connection flares to life. When someone threatens the woman he is growing to love Zach will do whatever he needs to in an effort to keep her safe but are they hunting more than one killer.
Lani Running Bear works for the Blackfoot Law Enforcement Service. At the end of her shift she is called to a friends house and finds her friends grandson has been murdered. Lani vows to find the killer. A trial elder doesn’t want Lani working on the case and Lani is told by her boss to back off. On her way home she finds a body in the road. She is told again to stay away of the investigation. She is angry and calls a friend from her military days to come watch her back while she does her own investigating. Zack talks to his boss Hank about the case and Zack goes to assist Lani. A fast paced who done it . I love the story. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
A great read between a reservation police officer Lani, who has murders to solve on her land but is taken off the case because of the elders, enlists Zach for help. The two met when Lani busts his but in an altercation while she was an MP. Zach was irritated at first when Lani detains him, but was impressed with her moves and conviction, so when she calls him for help to watch her back…he agrees. Since he is one quarter Blackfeet he is allowed on the land and welcomed as Lani’s fiancée, which is the cover they use to explain his presence….how far will they take the fake engagement.
A great read with steam, some suspense and a loyal, fierce, capable woman who doesn’t back down to find the truth. I liked both of these characters and they lit up the pages. I loved that there was no drama between them and neither ran from their feelings or emotions between them. I was a bit confused on why the murders happened and it didn’t really make sense to me but I still really enjoyed these two and the lead up to find out who did it.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Lani running bear is Black feet tribe and part of the police force. After ending her military career she comes back to the Res to do what she does best….take the bad guys down. Zach Jones is out of the service and ready to do his job for the brotherhood protectors. Into Lani, the person who hauled him into cells as an MP, calls him out of the blue. Together they try to find the cause of three deaths, 2 popular guys and one the brother of one of the dead men. With the Tribal elders getting in the way and one in particular making it harder for Lani to do the job, can they find out who murdered the young men before their own lives are wiped out?????? Loved the characters and the storyline. Love when Hank pops up with his wife and child. Can’t wait for the more books to come.
I received a copy of this book from Prolific Works and I voluntarily chose to review it. I am a long time fan of Elle James. This is a well written book with wonderful characters. There is some mystery in this one, but I don’t do spoilers so get the book and find out what I am talking about. This one is worth your time and effort. This was a quick read for me.
This story features a strong Native American protagonist. She serves as a tribal police officer trying to solve murders that occurred on the reservation. I liked that she met Zach when she arrested him for fighting. The murderer and the motive stay hidden to the end of the book. Great read from a great author.
Zach leaves the military to join The Brotherhood Protectors. When he gets a call from Lani, who he met in the military, he has no hesitation in going to help her.
Together they try to solve the two murders on the reservation as well as protecting themselves from the killer.
This is a well written and entertaining story which I enjoyed
Having read several books in this series I was curious how Ms James would pair these two. I was surprised by several aspects of this story. Obviously, who the murderer was. But the backstory for Lani and Zach. I enjoyed seeing Lani as a competent and capable female who didn’t take grief from anyone. Her boss had respect for her abilities and didn’t try to take credit for her work.
I would have liked to see more about Zach’s history with the Blackfeet. He does not have a tribal name, like Running Bear, so is that by choice? Since he is only 25% Blackfeet, does he still receive all of the benefits of being one?
And I guess my main question is WHY? I just don’t understand the senseless murder of those people. My mind hurts trying to understand why.
The latest Brotherhood Protectors book is an edge of your seat story! Lani and Zach are quite the pair and the story is action packed from the beginning. I loved their chemistry and the story kept you turning the pages for more.
Have you ever read a series of books that just keeps getting better. Well, this Brotherhood Protector series does that. Each book is a stand alone and I have loved everyone of them. “Ranger Creed” is full of action, suspense and romance. It takes place on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana. Zack is a former Army Ranger and Lani is a former Army MP. They met while serving in Afghanistan. Lani now works for the Blackfeet Law Enforcement and needs help. She calls Zack, who now works for the Brotherhood Protectors. I loved this book. I could feel the chemistry between Zack and Lani. I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. I loved it and recommend it to everyone.
