Have you ever gotten a friend request on social media that you suspected was fake? Have you ever wondered where those scammers get the pictures? It’s from everyday people just like you. Victor lived in his mother’s basement and dreamed of finding fame by producing a viral video. His only outlets were computer gaming and watching online videos. Then CamaroChick19 appeared in Victor’s life, … Victor’s life, bringing support and encouragement to his online inbox.
She was beautiful and friendly.
She was also fake.
When an obsessed Victor uses image search software to learn more about his new friend CamaroChick19, he finds the pictures belong to a teenager named Amanda and he’s determined to meet her. He stalks her only to have his advances rebuffed because Amanda has no idea her pictures are attached to thousands of online accounts. Victor is devastated by the rejection and the frayed thread connecting him to reality snaps.
Victor’s life begins to unravel with increasing violence. He’s determined the people in his life will pay for their cruelty and emotional abuse. He’s also determined that Amanda will pay the highest price of all.

I loved this book, it was fast paced with some great plot twists & great characters, I hope this will be a start of a new series. Great narration as always by Kevin Pierce. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is the first time I’ve ever given a book a 1 star rating and I would have given it 0 stars if it were an option. I could have saved some time by watching the nightly news and going on social media than to read this book. From the first page, I detected a hint of the basis for this book and I was correct. A lot of subliminal messages about controversial (and touchy) current day topics. Got to 48% of the book and threw it down. I read books to escape the atrocities and evil that has now become our world and permeates our daily life. Sorry, not my genre and not my message.
Potential reality makes this scary. Great story – could absolutely happen…and maybe has! This book tells a realistic tale impacted by terrorism and social media. The story is in a format similar to Arthur Hailey in that 3 different story-lines converge to make a common tale of horror. Well thought out and written. The book could benefit from a good editor to catch a few of the story-line and writing errors, but they did not detract from the actual story. I will definitely consider reading other books by this author.
Given the subject matter I did not expect to be very impressed with this book but I was sucked in from character one on page one!
Great writing, It taps into plot line/ideas which feel like real life glimpses into people who make us say “What in the world would make someone do that?!?!”
What a great story. To think that what we put out there on the net can be use by twisted individuals to destroy lives is just scary as hell. Read this book if just to make yourself aware that there are monsters out there and you must be careful.
Social media is not always your friend.
If you’re a social media fan and this book does not strike a chord for you, you better read it again.
Awesome! If you like this genre you must read this book! Mr. Horton has skillfully blended three stories together with a strong connecting thread. I believe each story could also very well stand on its own. I was thoroughly involved in this masterfully written book. Each character completely developed. Strong story lines.
Sadly terrorism is a part of our everyday life. There was some graphically described gore towards the ending and also a bit of strong language at that time too, which I believed was due to the frustration of the characters.
Divorce and death of parents or a parent can hurt deeply. Emotions can run the gamut; loneliness, sadness, loss of one’s self for all concerned, an uprooting of a lifestyle, and on and on.
I seldom use social media and after this book I may never use it again!
It’s been a long while since I’ve read a book this well written.
I liked it
Well written, for the most part, believable, easy to read book about a terrorist plot to manipulate a gaming enthusiast to help kill people in North Carolina.
Keep you turning the pages .
I learned a lot about how social media can be abused. The clarity of the author’s style was outstanding. Best style I have read in a long time.
It took awhile to get going but then I couldn’t put it down!
It was a psychological thriller for sure! I couldn’t put it down until I finished it.
