Dark Crime Romance The Mirror ~ Crime in LandkasterYou ever get that feeling like you could kill someone? Yeah, I got that feeling once, too. The only difference is, I acted on it. I felt no remorse afterward. Instead, there was this gratification that the world is down in population by one douche bag. That was the being of no return for me. The fate of all scumbags is in my hands. I decided who … I decided who would meet the bullet that ended them. So far, my count is low, only 199 bullets used.

This book has so much potential to be a best seller. I absolutely love the concept of a hitman being a good guy. The characters were amazingly put together. My biggest issue with the story is the writing errors. I read a lot, but could not get past some areas without rereading, and fixing the sentences in my head. That’s makes for a hard read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Raker and Doniella are each broken in their own way. The angst and turmoil roll off the pages as she tries to make their connection work, while he tries to get away from it. Lots of danger and suspense make this book a page-turner.
Hit man for Hire (Dark Romance)
“Raker” Wentworth is a hit man for hire, working for Marco he’s done his share of killing. Marco has a job for him, Doniella! She’s his next target. Danielle is a beauty that has gotten herself mixed up with the wrong people. Will Raker fulfil this mark? Grab you copy and see! Loved this book, it’s a hot, sexy, thrilling book you will not want to put down!
This is my first book this author and I loved the way the romance was weaved in with the suspense. Sometimes one can over power the other but I think the author had a good balance. Raker was a different kinda of hero and honestly I loved it. His job, his attitude, just everything about him right from the start had me intrigued and as the story went on I still enjoyed who he was. I loved getting to see peices of him that proved he wasn’t just a stone cold killer.
Doniella wasn’t a bad lead, but she’s not the best ones I’ve read either. I liked being her her head and felt sorry for her and the stuff she had to deal with, and my heart aches for her at the end. I’m rooting for her though and hope by the end of how ever many books there are that she gets a happy ending.
Something that really annoyed me about this book, was the fact that the dialogue between characters was different, not bold or anything. But italicized or somethingIt really took me out of the book. All I could think was it was a flash back because that’s mainly what I see italicized text being.
The story was good though and I really enjoyed the suspense of it. It kept me on my toes. I’m a little upset about the cliffhanger ending, but it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. The others are out so I plan to read them at some point. There was some editing issues (I read the KU version) where I would have to read something twice to understand it, but it wasn’t terrible. I do plan to read more. 4 stars #2OCCJD
I just finished this book around 6am this morning and all I can say is OMG…what a book!! I freaking LOVED it! This book had me completely gripped from start to finish. Raker is a hitman working for Marco, a real douchebag. His next job is Doniella, but Raker has a problem with killing women. This book is a thrill a minute with with complex characters and a story that captivates you from beginning to end. This book is phenomenally well written, the plot contains violence, killing, passion, and strong sexual attraction. You will not be disappointed after reading this book and will definitely become a fan of this author. It’s a book that I will definitely read again.
This book was more than I expected. Doniella is a troubled woman and not sure what to do with her life. Then Raker who works for her boss as a hit an was hired to kill Doniella. This story is very complex and things get complicated. It is a cliffhanger, but well worth the read and now to book 2. Enjoy
THE MIRROR (Crime in Landkaster Book 1) by Michael James
This is the start of a fantastic, complex dark romance. I am so glad I have found this author. His work is addictive and pulls you in right from the start. I was engaged in the story from the time I picked up the book until I finished it. Raker and Doniella are very damaged people from their past. He is a hit man for Marco, the head of the mob. She is the bookkeeper. Raker has a code, he doesn’t kill women. Doniella is on the list that Marco wants taken out. Raker wants to protect her, but not get involved with her. Michael brought us a very well written story with drama, angst, suspense, intrigue, twists, turns and chemistry. He also brought us a cliffhanger, now I am ready for the next book! Definitely a 5 star read.
