A boy learns of his dragon past; a girl has known of hers for years. They combine their faith, courage, and love to overcome evil, a slayer who seeks to bring an end to dragon heritage, forever. The kids at school call Billy “Dragon Breath” for good reason. His breath is bad! It isn’t the normal, morning-mouth bad; it’s the hot-as-fire, “don’t-you-dare-get-near-me” bad. Trouble erupts … erupts when his hot breath sets off the fire sprinklers in the boys’ restroom at school, and his parents learn that they’ve kept their secret for too long.
Billy finally discovers the secret. His father was once a dragon! Now that’s a piece of news a guy doesn’t deal with every day! Billy feels betrayed, alien, lost. When the dragon slayer traps him on a cold mountaintop in West Virginia, Billy learns to battle with weapons of steel and spirit while relying on a power he doesn’t understand, a power that helps him learn to trust again.
Bonnie, an orphan, tries to find a home, someone to love her, even though she feels like a freak because of a body feature that she calls a deformity. But this unusual feature becomes a life-saving attribute as she discovers that her love for others and her faith in a creator hold the answers she’s looking for.

This was one of the best books I have ever read. After I read it, I wanted more, so I read the rest of Dragons in our Midst. Then I read Oracles of Fire, and I am currently working on Children of the Bard. I would totally recommend this book.
This book is the first book in the series of Dragons in our Midst. I absolutely loved it! For a Christian book, it’s very informational about the Lord and life lessons to relate to. I first met Bryan Davis at Waco or Fort Worth,Texas at a homeschool conference. I read a couple chapters of this book, and I loved it so much that I had to get the other books. When I figured out that he had made more books tied to Dragons in our Midst, I knew I was going to love it. If you love dragons, knights, and love of our God, then you will definitely love this book series.
I really love this book! I am recommending this book because this is the first book that starts one amazing series that you will love! This book is truly inspirational and powerful with wonderful characters who go on epic adventures. It is the battle and the resolve of conflicts and inner struggles. It is the surge towards believing in what is true, and the beauty that comes for the Light! It is a master-fiction-work by one incredible, talented author who shows meaning and understanding of today’s world.
This book is good for a younger range of readers. It introduces strong characters that have to make hard decisions. Thats what life is all about and that’s what makes a book so good is when a character shows that. Pushes through. Makes the hard decision. It also ties in the Bible and King Arthur and the nights of the round table which I really enjoyed. Really recommend for younger ages and I really enjoyed it as an older reader as well. (It did have a few cliche lines, which bothered me, but they were small and easily overlooked.)
I loved it. I took to a world that I could find hope.
It has been a while since I’ve opened up this particular book, but it made such an impression that I remember a huge chunk of the plot and quality; and I have only a few things to say. (Completely spoiler-free.)
1. Bryan Davis is an inspiration. He combound the delight of fantasy and the glory and struggles of Christianity absolutely perfectly. I’m honored to call myself a fan.
2. The characters are WONDERFUL. I love them almost as well as if they were real people in my life. They have so much life in them, so much struggle, so much drive. You will be attached to Billy, Bonnie, Walter, and the rest of their friends faster than you can blink an eye.
3. I have always had an affection for dragons and the miraculous, and this book did not fail to satisfy. It more than satisfied. So much better than the other dragons I’ve come to love, by a LOT.
Highly reccomend this book and all the books that go with it!
