From bestselling author, Lisa Shelby comes the second book in the Between the Pines Series.
“I’m going to marry you one day.” A deep voice says from the barstool next to me.
It all happened so fast.
A week ago, romance writer, Mason O’Brien was at a party on the Upper Eastside. Tonight, she’s eating alone at the only bar in the tiny town of Eastlyn, Oregon.
A spur of the moment … Tonight, she’s eating alone at the only bar in the tiny town of Eastlyn, Oregon.
A spur of the moment decision to swap houses with a new friend landed Mason in Smalltown, USA in search of inspiration for her latest story.
As if she’d landed between the pages of one of her books, the town of Eastlyn came complete with a charming sandy-haired farm boy with a reputation. Mason has known men like Miles Montgomery before and she has no intention of becoming another notch on his or anyone else’s bedpost.
When Miles makes it his mission to be Mason’s unofficial tour guide she finds her walls beginning to crumble as she discovers what lies beneath his charming exterior. If she’s not careful she’ll be leaving Eastlyn with a broken heart three months from now.

Raised On It: (A Between the Pines Novel) by Lisa Shelby is a wonderful story to read. This is book number two in this wonderful series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I loved this book! It was a refreshing “country mouse/city mouse” update with a house swap and a dash of “Sweet Home Alabama” mixed in.
I truly enjoyed how the H knew the moment he laid eyes on the h that she was the woman he was going to marry…even though she had been warned about his love ’em and leave ’em ways by the woman with whom she swapped her New York apartment in order to spend several months in a small Oregon town.
I enjoyed the lengths that the H went to in order to make sure that she saw him for who he was as a person and not judge him based on his reputation. It didn’t hurt that he had an adorable dog that she fell for or that he enlisted the entire town to “hide” his biggest secret – one that you will have to read the book to find out what it was.
This book was sweet, steamy, cute and believable and I could totally picture it on the Hallmark Channel. (Yes, that IS a compliment!). I am looking forward to other Lisa Shelby books in this series.
“I’m in love! Raised On It by Lisa Shelby was my first book of her and it surely won’t be the last one. Her writing and characters hooked me from the beginning till the last page. It was a romantic small town story. Mason and Miles gave me all the feels. I laughed, cried, got angry and then sad. Miles stole my heart from the very beginning. He knew the moment he saw Mason, she was the one. His conviction made everything so romantic and intense. I can’t wait to read how the stories continue.”
Lisa Shelby’s Raised On It is an absolutely AMAZING love story! I love how an author can transport you into the story and make you feel like one of the characters watching the story unfold right in front of you. Can’t wait for more stories in the series!

Where has Lisa Shelby been all my life?!?!
Raised On It is hands down the BEST book I have read so far this year. I am seriously hooked and cannot wait to read her backlist and what she comes out with next. Is it possible to rate a book higher than five stars?? Is fifteen too much? Can I go higher?? Please??
Miles, Miles, Miles, the small town playboy has finally gotten a taste of his own medicine. Well, almost. Even though Miles is a playboy, he is much more than that. He is a sweetheart with a heart of gold and will do just about anything to get the girl of his dreams, Mason. However, he has met his match because she is not falling without a fight.
Mason comes from New York so when an opportunity comes along for her to go to a small town to get the feel for her latest book, she jumps on it. What she does not know though is that she is going to meet the man that will make her question everything.
Miles and Mason are the IT couple, like the IT couple of high school. They are so freaking sweet like cupcakes. Their chemistry is hot as duck and their banter is just amazeballs!! Lisa Shelby has written an excellent book with all the ticks. All the ticks! I cannot express how much you guys need to read this book. I Raised On It will blow you away with how much you will love it! These characters are the BEST ever.
Think about the possibility of us…
Mason is a city girl through and through, but does a house swap with Katie, ending up in Eastlyn, OR. It’s the perfect place for inspiration for her new romance novel series, set in a small town. Miles is a player, a small town farm boy with a secret. A secret that everyone knows except for Mason. This is a new-to-me author, and this is a terrific introduction. The book is very easy to read, and the story flows well. I felt like I was actually there while reading. Miles – my latest book boyfriend. He is friends with nearly everyone in town, just an all-around good guy. He feels the crackle with Mason, and knows she’s the one. He works to hard to show her that her first impression is wrong, working first on being a friend to her, and then some good old-fashioned courting. Mason is strong and talented, but she misses the feeling of belonging with the situation with her parents and cheating ex. So glad that she finds that in Eastlyn. With friendships lasting far beyond childhood, the Crew is still intact, even if some of them no longer live in Eastlyn. They’re a close-knit group, and so accepting of Mason. I am really looking forward to more from this author.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It’s fun to read about the bad boys and the women that “tame” them. There’s more to Miles that meets the eye, and its evident on the first page. I love small town country boys and loved watching Mason fall in love with the charming town and its residents. Even though I was sure I wouldn’t be trapped under Miles’ spell, it was so difficult not to swoon so hard after all his layers were starting to reveal one by one. And don’t get me started on Lou. Heart stolen! Loved it!
This is a small town romance featuring Miles and Mason the author from New York who does a house swap with a friend and moves to Eastlyn to get some inspiration for her new book.
On the first night she is in town, Mason meets Miles who tells her that he is going to marry her, who would not swoon at first, and then be suspicious wondering what kind of game this guy is trying to play, she doesn’t trust any guy after getting her heart broken. When she hears that Miles is the town man-whore Mason is determined to stay away from him but Miles has other plans for her.
This is one of the most romantic stories that I have read in a while as Miles sets out to woo Mason with picnics, long walks, dinners and showing her around his farm. He is determined to show her who he really is not the man his reputation says he is. Unfortunately just as Mason is learning to trust him a truth that he is hiding from her is revealed.
Lisa writes a wonderful description of small town life that makes you want to visit Eastlyn. We meet The Crew who have been Miles’s friends since childhood. This is the first book I have read in this series and I loved it. I am so looking forward to reading more.
I loved this story! Mason and Miles will have you going from laughing, to swooning, to angry, to sad, and back and forth. I love the small country town love. Mason has been hurt bad by her ex and her parents and fights her feelings for Miles to protect her heart. Miles knows as soon as he first sees her that she’s the one. The characters all draw you in and I can’t wait to read the rest of this series to see how their lives play out.
I am a HUGE sucker for any Lisa Shelby Novel. That’s no different with this small town country love story that almost left me Speechless like the great Dan & Shay iconic love song. Lisa Shelby knows her audience and she pulls you in so effortlessly and beautiful that it will even shake you and your boots. Head over boots, Anyone?
Miles Montgomery is not your typical Small town Cowboy. Is he hot? Of course! Is he adorable with a capital A? Your darn right he is but he is also Eastlyns’ town Loverboy. Or Man Whore that is phrased when a sexy and charming man can make you drop your undies just as well as he can make you question your own sanity. However, Miles may be all those things and so much more, but he is also one of the most genuine and compassionate individuals that you will ever meet. If he can finally get things right, then the crackle in the air when Mason enters it will also be fire that he never plans to put out.
Mason O’Brien decides to take on the house flip or in our modern day, house swap. Her career is her primary basis of her life and inspiration is highly needed. Eastlyn Oregon, sounds like a wonderful small town to retreat to in order for her to find her muse. Already having a good idea of the main characters in this town, she isn’t to surprised to meet the one and Only, Miles Montgomery. She knows his type. She has seen his type and met him and barely got away with herself fully intact. So, while Miles is intriguing and charming with his words, she knows the only way to survive this town and Miles is to focus only on her book and leave her own feelings out if it. But when you have a great PBC beer in the town where it was made, a sexy and confidant cowboy, and a Inspirational small town, you might just lose more than your sanity. Some might say you lose your heart and soul. Hopefully, Mason can handle the loss because one man will stop at nothing in showing her his entire being.
Lisa Shelby did it again with the gift and power of creativeness and plain magic. She will remove your mind from it’s current setting and transform you in to a bystander in this sensational small town. I tried to warn you readers… Enter at your own risk and your own soul…
10 STARS if possible
Lisa Shelby
Now, this was a cute story, and I do love a good “pursuit” story. Miles Montgomery is the loved son of the town of Eastlyn, Oregon, and he’s a charmer. He’s honest in his ways, and he flat states his waiting for “her” to walk into his life. Mason has done a house swap with someone from the town, which brings Miles and Mason together.
What we get is an adorable story, with a cute dog no less, of Miles wooing of Mason. She resists for a while, but he is persistent, and he has two huge things in his favor: the dog mentioned above and beer. Mason is under the impression there is no substance to Miles, but he quickly proves her wrong in the most romantic of dates. He’s decided she’s the “one,” and now he’s got three months to seal the deal so to speak before she heads back to her life in New York.
We get to meet his group of friends, which the rest of the series builds around. These characters add some depth to the story and help Mason see just how much her feelings for Miles is growing. Mason is bound and determined that she is not going to fall into the trap of depending on someone else to take care of her. Her parents and ex-boyfriend have left her with a bad taste for anyone who tries to control her. This side of Mason’s personality, along with Miles’s pursuit, adds a subtle tension to the story.
Honestly, this is a sweet series, and I hope to read more about these characters. It’s going to be hard to top Miles in the romantic department–the guy was genuinely swoony.
Absolutely loved this book. Lisa has hit a home run with this one. It is definitely one of my top books I have read this year. This book will have you totally engrossed in Smalltown, USA with its sweet romance and endearing characters Miles and Mason. His book. Movement a nice pace and was over before I was ready for it to be over.
Lisa Shelby gives me yet another reason why she is one of my absolute favorite go to authors. I always know she will deliver an amazing story full of characters that you can’t help but love, and she doesn’t disappoint with her new release Raised On It.
I love a small town romance and this one gave me everything I love about them and so much more than I thought to hope for. I was hooked from the start and I am still in love with Miles Montgomery.
Miles is sweet, sexy and all kinds of swoony. I fell fast and hard for this small town farmboy with a heart of gold.
Mason is just the kind of girl I would want to be friends with. And after learning about her past I couldn’t help but hope for her to find some happy. I couldn’t get enough of these two.
I absolutely loved this story and I cannot wait to see what Shelby brings us next!
This is the first book I have read by Lisa Shelby and after reading this story I’m left wondering why she hasn’t crossed my radar before now, well that’s about to change because I need more from this very talented author.
Raised on It is book 1 in the new Between the Pines Series and what a fantastic start to the series, it’s small town romance at its best and it’s a story that captivated from the first page to the last line.
This book ticked all my boxes, I fell in love with the characters and I loved the story because truth be told I’m a sucker for romance that involves finding your soulmate.
Mason O’Brien is a player, he knows what he wants and he usually gets it’s but Miles Montgomery is not a girl that’s easily swayed, it’s going to take everything he has got to win her trust and love ……
I love finding new authors and this book has left me excited to read more from Ms Shelby and as well as looking forward to the next book in this series I need to check out her previous works. If you are looking for a great small town romance with wonderful characters I urge you to one click this gem.
5 star Review Raised On It by: A Between The Pines Novel by Lisa Shelby
Lisa Shelby is a new author to me and why that is I have absolutely no idea. From the first to the last page I was hooked with this small town story set in Eastlyn, Oregon.
I really liked romance writer, Mason O’Brien and the man who despite herself, she falls for Miles Montgomery and found myself quickly invested in the story that Ms. Shelby wove.
Raised On It was a romantic love story that ticked all the boxes for me, with characters you cannot help but fall for. It is about finding your soul mate where and when you least expect it.
Miles, the player, falls had and fast for Mason at first sight and I loved how all in he was in his pursuit to gain her trust and love, to become her family. I fell hard and fast for Miles and was cheering for him to get the girl.
The writing was descriptive and strong and I could easily envision myself in Eastlyn and I am excited to read more in this series.
I cannot wait to read more from this author and will certainly be looking at her other books as soon as time permits.
OMG…Raised On It by Lisa Shelby (who I absolutely love btw) was amazing and I fell in love with everything about the book and the people in it. We are going to start off by staying that I have claimed Miles so if you have or have not read the book yet just know that Miles is MINE and I am not sharing him with anyone. I have #claimedthefarmboy and no one can take him from me. Ok, now that we have gotten that straight and out of the way, Raised On It is a sweet, loving, hometown story about finding your “one” when you really aren’t even looking. Have you ever felt “crackle” when you meet someone? Well, Miles feels a “crackle” between him and a woman he sees in a bar one evening and before he even gets her name tells her straight out that “he is going to marry her one day”. This begins the pursuit of Mason and trying to gain her trust. Miles is straightforward, cocky, funny, caring, selfless, a true farm boy at heart, and will go above and beyond for anyone and puts people before himself. Do you see why he is MINE and why I am not sharing? I truly fell in love with Miles and Mason.
Lisa Shelby once again has created a wonderful world that I wish I could be apart of. I mean I would totally fit right in with “The Crew” and I guess I could learn to like beer – if having Miles in my life would mean drinking beer I could take one for the team (sorry Mason). Raised On It focuses on FAMILY and Miles goal was to break down the walls Mason carried with her to see that he could be her FAMILY.
I absolutely loved Raised On It and would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Lisa Shelby has once again outdone herself.
“Whatever little bit he can give me, I will greedily take because Miles Montgomery is everything, and you don’t walk away from everything.”
Who would have dreamed a house swap would lead a city mouse to the man of her dreams and cause the local player/farm boy to give up his love’m and leave’m ways? Lisa Shelby has written a heartwarming romance between two souls who recognize each other on sight…even if one of them is reluctant to let go of the past. Raised on It is one of those stories you just don’t want to end, and the endearing characters will make you feel like part of the story. One of the best romances I’ve read this year, and can’t recommend it enough! Wish I could give it more than 5 stars!
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received via the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own. **
Lisa Shelby, your amazing stories put into words never cease to amazing me. I am so honored to be a part of the #lovegeek world. “Raised on it” the story of Miles and Mason is incredibly heartwarming and hits ya right in the feelers. I fell in love with Miles in chapter 2 with 7 little words, I was all in from there. I eagerly await to read what happens with The Crew in “Bottle it up” until then I will sit back during these crazy times with my heart and feelers in your books, waiting for my time to hear those 7 little words.
Mason is an author from New York that heads to small town Oregon to find inspiration for her next romance novel. The woman she has house-swapped with gives her the local cast of characters, so Mason knows who it’s safe to hang out with, who to avoid, and who’s gonna try to get in her pants (specifically Miles, the town bicycle that every girl has had a ride on). Miles offers himself up as Mason’s tour guide and eventually she takes him up on it and he shows her the town through his eyes. He sets it up so she thinks he’s an average farm boy, when in fact he’s much more than that.
What I liked: Mason is a strong woman that is true to herself and gets by on her own; Miles owns the fact that he’s a manwhore but acknowledges to himself right away that he feels “the crackle” with Mason and is going to diligently woo her like she deserves; Miles’ group of friends that are a second family to him.
What I didn’t like: Because the wooing is slow, you are 50% into the book before a sex scene might take place and then it fades to black and the same happens around 60%, etc.; Raised On It wasn’t referenced as a clean romance novel and any clean romance novel I’ve accidentally purchased and started reading doesn’t use sh** and f**k as sentence enhancers like this one does. So don’t slow play me with a book about a “naughty” romance author and throw all the swears at me and then finally at 50% plus into the book decide to act like sex is shameful and shall not be written about for fear your readers’ Kindles might burst into flames – – trust me on this, Ms. Shelby, this is why people purchase adult contemporary romance novels versus clean & wholesome, etc. It’s like ordering a powdered, deep-fried Oreo and taking a huge bite and discovering that under the powdered sugar and batter that there’s no freakin’ Oreo!!
I absolutely loved this book! It was very sweet and steamy. It was laugh out loud funny and super cute adorable. The dog, Lou, made the book for me. Just a bit player but such an important part! The setting of Eastlyn, OR is wonderful too. I’ve always enjoyed books set in the Pacific Northwest and this one did not disappoint. Mason & Miles are perfect for each other and I am really looking forward to learning more about the Crew in the coming books. A really good feel-good book that leaves you with a smile on your face and hope in your heart.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
