“Rains of Remorse” is another great read by Christy Barritt! This story gets your attention from the first page when a stranger invades Rebecca Jarvis’ home. And this begins the many strange occurrences happening to Rebecca. Her neighbor, Levi Stoneman, steps in to help her. But Levi has some secrets of his own.
I highly recommend this book if you enjoy good, clean, romantic suspense novels.
I received this book from the author for my honest opinion.
Lantern Beach certainly has its fair share of crime and mystery. One of the previously minor characters from the Beach gets her own story as she awaits the birth of her first child. Rebecca, the town’s realtor, finds out her husband passed away with a big secret. Levi, sent to investigate, finds himself getting closer to Rebecca than he should. Overall, it was a good story and characters.
“She should have gotten out when she had the chance.”
When Levi Stoneman hears a scream from next door, he immediately fears the worst; finding a very pregnant woman on the floor, he prioritizes her needs before contemplating his next move. This was not how he expected to meet Rebecca Jarvis.
Someone is clearly out to do her and her unborn daughter harm; but why? Rebecca Jarvis can’t begin to figure it out. Not to mention her handsome new neighbor, who always seems to be at the right place at the right time, she can’t quite figure him out either. But who has time for romantic musings; she’s about to become a single mother with a fluctuating means of supporting herself as a real estate agent on a small island.
Enjoy revisiting Rebecca Jarvis on Lantern Beach; she’s clearly made some poor choices, but she’s also brave enough to fight for a second chance. Maybe her new neighbor’s appearance on the island is providential, rather than problematic.
It was nice to get to know a formerly minor character from the Lantern Beach Series, realtor Rebecca Jarvis, as well as catch up with well-loved characters. Rebecca is pregnant, deserted by her husband then widowed, and worried about the future. Her neighbor, Levie, renting the house next door is new to the island, but comes to her rescue when a masked man enters her homes and scares her to death. But can she trust him? Does he have ulterior motives for befriending her? Chief Cassidy becomes suspicious of Levi and looks for answers. Who is after Rebecca? What was her husband involved in that brought all this trouble to her door? Why is Levi in town and can she really trust him? Another great trip to Lantern Beach!
I was disappointed in the story and characters. Christy Barritt’s characters lack the quick whit and quirky personalities of her earlier series. It’s pretty predictable. I think she is writing too many books too fast these days. I’ve read over fifty of her books, and I’ve stopped buying them due to a lack of challenging story line.
I have loved the entire Lantern Beach series and Rains of Remorse is no exception. Fans of Lantern Beach have seen Rebecca on and off throughout the other books and now she gets her own story. Her estranged husband is dead and Rebecca is pregnant. The book opens with a stranger in Rebecca’s house and her mysterious new neighbor comes to her rescue. It’s a race against time for Rebecca to figure out who is after her and why. This book is action-packed and a real page turner. Fans of Lantern Beach will also enjoy updates on the characters we have grown to love.
I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great novel to read over and over. It’s touching, decent, action-packed, scary at times and inspirational.
I always enjoy visiting Lantern Beach and can’t wait to read more!
I love the Lantern Beach characters that are constant throughout the series. This story is about Rebecca, who is a young pregnant widowed woman. Her husband passed recently and crazy things begin to occur around Rebecca that start to involve Chief Chambers in the situations. An undercover agent, Levi, lives next door and gets involved with Rebecca as part of his undercover job. There’s a lot of suspense and intertwined occurrences throughout the book that kept me wanting to keep reading. Terrific ending! Well worth reading.
Couldn’t put it down!
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed Christy’s book. The suspense, plot, and characters were all great! I like the way Christy writes and have not read one of her books I didn’t like. This one was no exception!
Happily, fans of Christy Barritt’s Lantern Beach series are gifted with another character’s story. Of course, favorite sheriff Cassidy Chambers has a few cameos during the drama. I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
Life was good and then rotten for Rebecca Jarvis. Now she attempts to sell beach real estate during the quiet and slow off-season. She is thwarted at every turn by a stalker, house break-in and scary vehicle chase. Complicating matters are her last month pregnancy and new rental neighbor, Levi. All the trouble started when he arrived, yet he seems to lend a helping hand each time. Hopefully, she can keep herself and the baby safe while searching for answers.
A delightful blend of mystery and romance.
When Rebecca Jarvis finds an intruder in her home, her neighbor decides he must protect her. But is he all he appears to be or is he up to something more sinister?
